  1. Hi. Need some help regarding PC upgrade trying to boost some performace. Specs: Core i7 920 @2700 MHz (bought in 2010); 6Gb DDR3 1333 MHz; Radeon R9 270X 2Gb GDDR5; HDD 320GB. Plan is to upgrade RAM to 16 or 24 GB DDR3 and 2xHDD in RAID 0 configuration (or maybe an SSD). The question is: is it worth the investment or the processor is simply too old for DCS. Cheers.
  2. Thanks. Just that it can't be downloaded for some reason.
  3. Hi. Got a question that must had been asked before but, i need to clarify it since it's pretty hard to bear. Color banding. After in-game sunset, when colors get darker, overall image quality is severly damaged due to color banding, especially water and sky. I put some screenshots down: first screenshot shows water banding, as well as a visual delimitation after some distance, second one the sky in wich cockpit reflection is very pronounced and third where cockpit lights show some very ugly banding. The big question is: the monitor is the problem or the game? Specs are something like this: Core i7 920 @2700, 6xGB DDR3, ATI Radeon R9 270X 2GB DDR5, 320 GB HDD (PC bought in 2010); Monitor: Samsung U28E590.
  4. Oh, thanks !
  5. Hello. Found some weird behaviour of the drag chute deploy button. On a ramp start, after battery start, the deploy button works fine, but if i take off, complete a task and rtb, when i hit the deploy button nothing happens and i overshoot the rwy. Can't figure out why. Of course, this means i did not try to deploy the drag chute twice, just different mission starts...Any ideas?
  6. The screenshots were made on startup, controls untouched. This issue fustrates me since Mi-8 is my fav module.
  7. This screenshot is from 30 Oct 2015, where blade angle looks correct. I don't understand why this was changed to incorrect...Next one From Feb 2016 also, untill some recent update i think.
  8. Is this for CW spin from left view? Because if it is, you must recheck your aerodynamics knowledge...sorry. And for implementation, it was done correctly some time ago. I just noticed this flaw recently, i has not always been like this.
  9. For the air flow to be towards the tail boom, the trail edges of the blades should be towards the boom, and they are not. This pic shows the correct blade angle: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/VmA61GF1RHU/maxresdefault.jpg Same config on this Hind: http://www.militaryaircraft.de/pictures/military/helicopter/Mi-24/ILA2014/Mi-24_7353_ILA2014_0225_800.jpg Anyway, i'm sure this was not always like this, but only after some recent updates, my guess.
  10. The correct airflow is toward the tail boom like you say, but look at the blades: on a CW spin from the left view, they push opposite the tail boom. Either i'm crazy or nobody else sees this? Omg...
  11. Yes, pedals centered; exactly my point: tail has to push left, but look carefully and see it pushes right. Rotor tail blades are reversed.
  12. Hi, just noticed something about the tail rotor of the mi-8: the blade angle seems to me that it is reversed. Am i not seeing right or there is indeed a mistake? Check screenshots.
  13. Core i7 920 @2700; 6GB DDR3 (working at 1033 MHz); ATI R9-270X 2GB; HDD 320GB.
  14. Hi. I just made test. I played in singleplayer a 16x16 F-15 vs SU-27 mission to see if there is any hard fps drop, but there was not much. The game runs very nice. However, in multiplayer i could not even join 104th today with 17 players online. Does multiplayer require more resources or do i have a system problem like drivers?
  15. Yeah, i was affraid of this answer...
  16. Hi. The problem i got is that especially in multiplayer, the game freezes alot and most often it crashes for good, making it unplayable above 25 players. Right now the game is installed on drive D. The question is: will installing it on drive C help with game freezes?
  17. And now scrap all i said above. I just got confirmation from a retired MiG-29A pilot that even early versions of the mig have different tonalities for search, lock and launch. Mergh...
  18. Missile guidance uplinks can be brought into discussion only for vertical launched SAM's. This is done through separate guidance antennae, to help the missile enter the radar lock beam: http://www.radartutorial.eu/06.antennas/Special%20Antenna%20Beams.en.html Guidance antennae emmit a somehow directional beam towards the missile untill it receives the radar reflection. Jetfighters do not have directional guidance antennae, like the IFF antenna wich is linked to the radar. For data-linked missiles like AIM-120 they may use radio antenna, wich emitts on 360 deg, but in no way i believe this has anything to do with the target RWR. For example, if 2 or more jets start guiding missiles towards different targets, how does one target identify the correct emitter for the incomming missile? And this is for the last decade of technology or so. For the R-27 class of missiles, wich only pick a radar reflection, no way of such advanced guidance systems. Even for the AIM-120, this only applies in TWS i think, and has the purpose of delaying the target's suspicions. In case of STT, the target is already alert and goes deffensive. So, i still must claim that SARH missiles DO NOT provide a launch warning. ARH missiles provide missile approach warning, but other than that, your eyes and intuition are the best launch detection warning.
  19. Yes, good point on both.
  20. Well then, here come 2 questions now: 1 - if one ARH has locked to a chaff, how can it reaquire the original target? 2 - how does a SARH target a chaff if the radar is continuously locking an enemy aircraft?
  21. My point exactly. Missiles seem much more buggy after last updates, and far more ineffective. And one thing i do not understand is, why a SARH missile is more sensitive to chaff than an ARH missile, since the radar provides the target illumination, and chaff is not affecting the radar, it's just some noise.
  22. Hi, after playing recently in single player some low altitude missions, i noticed that the missiles cannot be use at low altitude because they imediatly plunge into ground/water after launch. Right after launch they go lead pursuit no matter the altitude. At some point in the past this was partially fixed i think but now it's back. Another interesting thing ifor the R-27ER is that they change course with about 90deg away from the target, for no apparent reason. Is this how it should be?
  23. i7 920 only uses the memory at 1066. It won't matter how fast the new memory will be.
  24. Hello, i have small budget available and i was wondering wich of the next two should i choose for an upgrade: 12 gb RAM or SSD. The major problem is that in multiplayer the game freezes alot, and above 30 players on a server it becomes impossible for me to play. HDD also sounds like crazy. I thought either more memory, or a faster hard drive would solve this problem. Actual specs: Intel core i7 920 @2.7GHz -2010 model 6GB DDR3 ATI R9-270X 2GB WD 320GB HDD.
