Rudder trim surface moves wrong way in GFX
FunktasticLucky replied to BitMaster's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
KC-135 Crew Chief here. We have only 1 hydraulically controlled control surface on our aircraft. It's the rudder. Everything else is manually controlled through pulleys and cables to the control surface. You can only image how hard it would be to move elevators or the rudder in manual mode while flying at 600mph. So to cut down the effort we have control tabs. Which is probably exactly what is going on here on the P-51. It's like a small control surface for the control surface. You aren't moving the entire surface (except on the ground when there isn't airflow) you are moving the tab and the tab moves the control surface for you. So the tabs are correct in this game. -
Need a larger SSD HD
FunktasticLucky replied to JG14_Smil's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Acronis True Image is by far THE BEST imaging software available. It will allow you to actually backup your current SSD and restore it to the new one and even increase the partition sizes. It will also ensure proper alignment of the SSD and all. Great software. I actually have 2x 256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD's that were used for all of maybe 3 weeks. I used them in a Raid 0 setup but ended up needing more space and bought 2x512GB 840 pro's. If you are interested PM me. They have been wiped using the samsung software a total of 2 times. Just an option. GL. -
Greasing up the Warthog
FunktasticLucky replied to tietze's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks again for this wonderful thread... the magnet fell off my warthog and I had to send it in for repair. I could have done it myself but for a 450 dollar joystick I shouldn't have to. Well I finally got it back after 2 months (I'm at an overseas location atm) and the joystick does not register full range of motion and it has a ton of play in the yaw department and you can lift the stick up and down slightly. So i start pulling everything apart and they didn't put the little plastic pins in. WTF mate. So I can hopefully get the plastic pins from them so I can just install them myself... but this definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to TM... yes this is the first TM product I've ever owned so others may know better than me... Just maxes me angry. -
I just wanted to add into this discussion that the smoke was caused by the type of Fuel used. Aim-120's and modern jet engines using JP-8 instead of JP-4 do not smoke. The only time I witness smoke out of the F-15's flying around all day here at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa Japan is during their takeoff with Full After Burner engaged. JP-8 is designed to be smokeless when burned.

new 27 pit mean also 33 pit?
FunktasticLucky replied to jason_peters's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I wish they would make another su-27 or su-33 flanker game. I loved the first one. Many hours were had in it. DCS Su-27 Flanker anyone? -
Win a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog during VFAT Weekend
FunktasticLucky replied to Ells228's topic in Community News
I was thinking about buying those brackets... but almost 200 dollars shipped is a bit steep IMO... they would be nice though. Congrats Archi and it looks great. I'm jealous as my Warthog is still broke and I'm waiting to hear back from TM to get it RMA'd -
SimHQ interview - DCS Q&A with Matt Wagner
FunktasticLucky replied to 159th_Viper's topic in Community News
I feel the same as you. Ever since P-51 and DCS world has come out, there has been no mention of the next module. The last word we got is P-51 has not slowed the progress of the fast mover module. No it probably hasn't. But DCS world, combined arms, and FC3 apparently has. And the Nevada terrain. I'm very thankful for DCS and ED for putting time and resources into these modules. I'm just very disappointed in the lack of information that is released about these projects. My belief here is that the fast mover has been put on hold or canxed and nobody is saying anything. -

Warthog issues, no Response from TM
FunktasticLucky replied to FunktasticLucky's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Sorry it's been so long. I have been restoring my PC from a crash. (My fault haha). I will continue to shoot them emails every day starting monday. I am pretty sure that the retailer won't cover it as it's been 4 or 5 months. I would much rather have this one replaced by Thrustmaster as it's a 400 dollar setup and it shouldn't have happened. Hopefully they respond soon. I hate not having my joystick :( -
So anyone else having a hard time getting a hold of Thrustmaster? I have sent them 3 emails over the last 3 weeks and just keep getting the automated email response saying I'll be answered soon. My joystick was having issues where it didn't have full control on the X axis and was extremely sensitive in the Y axis. Tried the calibration software and then it didn't work anymore. Turns out the magnet has fallen off... The joystick is still under warranty and so i would prefer it to be replaced. But as stated above. I can not get a hold of these guys to save my life. I'm almost ready to fix it myself.

I thought the D model without the longbow was a C model?? Or did they just do away with it? Last I remembered, the D model was a longbow and the C model was everything but the radar. But the radar from 1 could do all the work for the others since they were connected via data modem.

Here's a quick video of a couple F-18's getting refueld by us this weekend. We drug these guys back from Guam to Japan. This is obviously a clip from a much longer video. Enjoy this from the Boomer's perspective in 1080P :)

Disable hydraulic system for testing?
FunktasticLucky replied to Megagoth1702's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Because to go nose up trim the whole control surface has to move up. But to move the control surface up the control tab has to move down. I haven't used it in this sim and the A-10 is not a KC-135. The only hydraulically powered control surface in a KC-135 is the Rudder. Everything else is done by control tabs and balance bays :) So if you're using trim with no hydraulics. nose up is control surface up correct. so if you trim to move the control surface up (remember you're no longer moving the entire control surface just the tab now.) the control tab moves up instead which pushes the control surface down. Which is nose down. So that's why it's backwards. -
Video of my '51 Demo - inspired by Bob Hoover
FunktasticLucky replied to VTB_Ray's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Dunno if it was posted here before or not. But Bob Hoover is amazing. Here is a video of him doing some stopped engine aerobatics and pouring tea during a perfect 1G roll. Amazing pilot. http://www.youtube.com/embed/9ZBcapxGHjE
