  1. Please keep your people under a little more control. I'm a customer, and I have an ABSOLUTE RIGHT to say what I think about what's being produced in a fair manner. I don't tolerate raging kids and geriatrics throwing out neg rep for nothing well at all.
  2. Ha ha! Love the neg rep. The little assholes that try to dominate and rule this forum are so funny. What little minds. Don't you guy's have anything better to do? Guess not.
  3. Lol, if I wanted to fly a P-51D, I could just pick up MSFS or X-Plane. WWII has been done to DEATH. Come on DCS, you know what everyone is waiting for.
  4. What an absolute waste of development time. Another <YAWN> WWII fighter. I won't be buying it.
  5. Hmm, I was just reading through some of this post. 1) This guy is a REAL hacker. Good luck getting rid of him. My first suspect would be other server owners. I've played a lot of FPS and have seen people like this before. They are usually competing server owners who want people to come play on THEIR servers. Happened a lot in Crysis Wars. 2) One thing you might want to do is look through the logs on this forum server. These people are like Pyro's. They love to watch things burn and listen to people fight and talk about it. Anyone here who has watched this page intensely and not participated in the discussion? Big Red Flag. Good luck. Edit: I was just thinking, and also you should keep an eye out on the net for someone trying to sell this as a private hack. We had a really bad guy ( who was a genius at programming ) in Crysis Wars who did just that. His name was LongPoke. He about single handedly destroyed Crysis Wars online. Just my two cents.
  6. Interesting. We can't do that as far as I know in FTN. If you stop head tracking, your view just locks. Maybe we can get that in FTN one day.
  7. Signed up! Only way I'd ever be able to afford a Warthog. Joystick prices these days are INSANE!
  8. Yeah, I don't think that works. 1) I'm using FaceTrackNoIR which doesnt have that key, and 2) I think all that does in TrackIR is stop head tracking. You still can't use the mouse. What we need is something in the game that stops the TrackIR and switches the game over to the mouse panning. I think DCS itself would have to program that into the sim. It sure would make things better.
  9. Hey guys. Is there anyway to switch from trackir to mouse view control ingame? I'm using facetracknoir which is decent for looking out the windows and near guages, but I need to switch to mouse view to look at controls to the side, below, and behind me. A button to transfer view control would be very much appreciated!
  10. Same problem I have with Apaches. Six hits to kill one at times. They just won't die.
  11. As above. For some reason, the checkbox isn't showing up. Anyway I can set it in the config files?
  12. Sorry, but you really can't tell anything by those videos. All you see is flashes from the rounds exploding against the armor. I don't think the HE would do much in itself to the armor. It would all depend on if the head had enough strength (steel) and energy to get through the armor. So far, the best information I can find says 20mm HEI will pierce around 12mm RHA @ 100 meters range ( Probably the M61 cannon on the F16, etc. ). So, you can kind of infer from there. M113 usually has about 30mm RHA. Newer vehicles like the BMP-3 have about 60mm RHA on the frontal arc. From everything I can find so far, the head looks like it is made of simple aluminum, and except for the one quote above, it does not appear that the round was made to pierce anything more than the lightest armor, and mostly is for use against un-armored, anti-material. I think the HEAP concept of heavy steel round with a small amount of HE was abandoned after WWII, as armor got much better and thicker.
  13. Move in at around at least 250 km/hr. Switch to manual sighting and rockets / guns. As you get the sight over your target, hit designate to fire the laser. The sight will adjust for THAT range. Fire. Get out fast. Make sure the dial for calculating rocket path is set for the right rockets. Its on the back - right panel. I think its set for S-8 as default. But yeah, I get the feeling heli's were meant for standing way off and just firing guided missles. Everything else is kinda suicide run. Even a .50 with a lucky hit can bring your copter down.
  14. Need the link to the video. And 30mm API can only penetrate 80 - 90mm (kinetic value) RHA.
  15. Actually, AP should be better against the APC's. HE is only going to crater the armor a little on M113 and such. Also, knock out sensors, periscopes, etc. I don't know if it would be enough to damage tracks if you got in a shot to the side. API on the other hand is going to be like a thick arrow going through a slab of cheese. Your going to get crew kills, track hits, damage to the turret, engine kill, etc. I had this problem in Arma 2 / Ace 2 before. My M2A1 took on a BMP-3 with HE and barely did any damage to it. I flipped to APIT, and punched 5 rounds through the mid body. Got crew kills, with the driver puching out and running for his life. Went in to the BMP-3 later and found the gunner and commander dead. 25mm bullet is a hell of a way to go! ACE 2 guys did a great job with armor in Arma 2. It used to be just hit points, now you've got penetration, RHA values for armor and rounds at range, etc. Makes it pretty really realistic. As for penetration on the HE, I think the thing that is most obvious is how thick is the shell, and what is it made of. Energy and mass will be lower than that of an API of course. Is it HEAP with a thick steel head, low amount of explosive. Or does it have a lot of explosive, and a thin aluminum shell? If its the later, your not going to get much penetration at all, if any, as its just going to squash against the armor and explode. Then you would have to see how much explosive and what would be the crater / crush damage against the armor.
  16. If you turn up the graphics all the way, the world looks pretty good, but will suck more power than Crysis.
  17. 333 works good for me without wasting too many flares. Drop 3 flares, wait 3 seconds, do it again 2 more times. What I want to know is, how do some of the AI you see in game release that instantaneous cloud of flares? I've seen that in RL video's on TV as well. Its like they blew all their flares in a second or two.
  18. Yeah, the problem is I have a notebook with a 15" wide screen monitor at a resolution of 1366x768. This makes the heli's ( and jets ) invisible at greater than about 2.5 km. Which makes them untouchable while they can hit you at anytime. The sim needs to take in to account the screen resolution ( and maybe even monitor size ) when it determines how far the AI can see. This will let us guys with normal equipment ( non - $600 video cards, etc. ) play this sim as well. Otherwise, we just get slaughtered by an invisible enemy with super human eyes.
  19. Just did a ruler on F10 screen. My wingman and the AI are "seeing" each other at about 6km, well beyond visible range. You can see a tiny black dot (two pixels ) if you look very close at a little less than 3km. This super human sight needs to be fixed. Its no fun going up against godlike AI and losing every time. I'd hate to set them to excellent. They'd probably visually lock me up at 11 km.
  20. On the Shark's left console, its the reset button next to the laser on/off switch and the gun mode selector dial. Its usually set to backspace on the keyboard.
  21. Yeah, I think Altitude hold is like the rest. It has a 20% limit.
  22. The AI in this game is bad enough when your going against the ground. But the heli's and Jets are the killers. Like the ground vehicles, they have the eyes of eagles. They can see you from like 10km away. Even though I can't see them, or even pick them up on my shkval. I have intelligence set on average, but it doesn't matter. The minute you get within their set attack range, they seem to instantly know where you are, even though they shouldn't be able to see you at that range. And without radar, they shouldn't be able to pick you up on their shkvals at BVR without just an extremely lucky chance. They're driving me crazy. Even when they laze you, they're so far away, you can't pick them up with the shkval because there is so much sky to search. And the laze detector's direction indicator doesn't seem to be all that acurate. It says forward, and later the copter hits me from 2:00. Really sick of this. They should not be able to instantly pick out where we are when we are out of human sight range. The chances of them just picking us up on the shkval at average skill should be EXTREMELY low. Right now, its like they have psychic powers and know exactly where you are when you get within their set attack radius. And another thing to add - How is their shkval and gun system so much more accurate then ours ( I'm talking about the Mi-24V). Even though I'm flying sideways to the heli at around 280 km/hr, as fast as I can get the copter to fly, it looks like he hits me with every round he shot. Yet when I shoot at them and they are going a little over half that speed, at their side, my shkval and gun don't seem to be able to hit them. Getting REALLY FRUSTRATED with this sim.
  23. Well, if your talking about them not just sitting there while they take fire, then YEAH. The infantry is so bad in this sim, it feels like I'm shooting at metal figurines.
  24. Lol, sorry, NO. Arma 2 has MUCH better AI. I've done LOTS of mission editing in it. The AI can be very smart and aggressive, even using cover and concealment. When they're coming after you, you sweat. They don't just stand there staring off into space like this sim. Your aircraft simulation is great, but you have a WHOLE LOT to do in making your AI and your damage systems realistic. You have M1A2's being destroyed by a slow firing, inaccurate, 30mm cannon, while they just sit there, not doing any defensive manuevers. That kills the realism. I hope that before you start to build another aircraft, that you will give some desperately needed attention to the world, at least bringing the AI up to Arma 2 standards, and giving us a much better damage system for tanks, apc's, and such. Especially to those infantry soldiers who just stand there like they're in a daze.
