  1. Those aren't much in the way of mods, but no, I don't use JSGME for any mods DCS.
  2. When I update DCS with the updater, my labels (green and gray dots), HMS height (not centered), and my cannon/weapon release as single button all gets set to the default settings. After updating, I have to hunt around and fix that stuff. I'd like it to not be changed when updating or have those within the sim Options menu that I can quickly access. Not talking about control configuration like button assignments or joystick axes. If that was changing, I'd be furious. This is just mildly annoying.
  3. It would be nice not to have to mess with this stuff every time I update DCS. Or make these something I can correct quickly in the Options menu. Screwing around with LUA and config files is so 20 years ago. Thanks.
  4. I liked my eMagin Z800 until the right eye started getting a big black dead band encroaching on the picture from one side. Early low-life-span OLEDs. Emagin didn't take care of their customers, unfortunately. I think the holy grail of VR for this stuff is 1080/60 per eye stereo with good headtracking using internal and external methods cross referenced.
  5. Not interested in the Cobra if it doesn't have guided missiles of some kind. I'm a fan of the Zulu Viper, but I think it's too automated for the DCS universe... and I can already do a crude autotrimming. Then we'll be all set for an alternate version of the early 90s across the plains of Europe. I prefer flying the helos with MFDs, as I like to fly in no cockpit mode in DCS World with BS2.
  6. Try EECH 2 Desert Operations with PPJoy and GlovePIE using my scripts. If you find the flight experience is too boring, in spite of it feeling pretty darn close to X-Plane with the Comanche helo, Artificial Stability, and Yaw Damping turned on, maybe better than that since you don't have to screw with slight roll or tail trimming in EECH with GlovePIE, then go for Blackshark. Blackshark is a lot of effort to fly and you may or may not want that. The EECH campaigns have a lot more variety and feel more engaging, but the gauge as to whether you'll enjoy Blackshark enough has more to do, I believe, with the flight model. If you like EECH2DO and don't need the stereoscopic, then the modified version of EECH1 is actually better and less buggy than EECH2, aside from its ugly terrain. EECH2DO has really nice terrain textures and a gorgeous (in my opinion) low-requirement graphics engine. Personally, I like all three for different reasons... EECH2DO has the most FBW feel with a lot of power and crisp, fast graphics. EECH1 (modded version) is now more realistically power-limited on the weaker helos and has more realistic weapons than EECH2DO with my GWUT. And Blackshark has both realistic weapons, good but taxing graphics, and a very laborious flight model that is definitely an approximation of an old hybrid SAS flight control system.
  7. What's your HOTAS like? You shouldn't have to bother much with the keys. I think the only thing I use is crtl-w, alt-a, R ctrl-bkspc, crt-pause and I think that's it. That's when I first start up. Oh, then I hit 5 like twice. I really need to get my X65 profile up so people can use it.
  8. Maybe it's like in the movie the Aviator where they say there needs to be more clouds. Maybe it needs lots and lots' of small clouds and wisps, probably all semi transparent.
  9. I read this whole thread and now I have a massive headache. And I'm hungry. Anyway... I'm curious when the Su-27 and Mig-29 gained (at least) somewhat modern radar MFDs, BVR acquisition, and working multi-use TWS, not whatever you call the useless TWS in the sim carried over from the SSI Flanker sim modeling (along with a lot of other stuff in Flaming Cliffs to some people's chagrin). Anyone know? Because even late 90s early 00s export versions had such TWS and ACQ modes going on, even though it took years later for the R-77 to start getting adapted to use them. Obviously ED is not modeling the current modern hardware from the last decade (later export Su-30, recent Su-35, etc), but when did Russia finally start getting moderately modern radar and even a modicum of accompanying avionics modes and automation? I find it hard to believe the export versions were more advanced than what the Russian air force had upgraded to in any respect. Also, there seems to be a lot of talk about how EW/ECM has destroyed the capability of BVR radar homing missiles outside of obviously-lopsided engagements with the very oldest and non-upgraded export aircraft, a category that's apparently been the only recorded launch platform for the critical Russian missile real-world performance stats. If none of the newer R-27 designs have seen combat, all of the legacy hardware that was fired was done from very under-equipped old legacy export aircraft, and the newer semi-passive designs are combined with very powerful radars, then would that mean they are now at an advantage over the active designs from a countermeasure standpoint since their terminal phase is not dependent on a tiny radar emitter? Or is the reducing range between the active-homing missile and the target able to compensate for that and bring active types up to the rapidly-diminishing expected average utility of radar homing missiles in general? Thanks and sorry if I'm pissing anyone off for dredging up a thread. Old is not bad, and conversations can take place across long distances or long time. Peace out.
  10. The only serious problem was associated with the issue of getting PPJoy installed on modern systems, which the author of it has since resolved. There are some minor niggles: Clear Trim sometimes doesn't work properly for some reason in Blackshark 2 from the script. This might necessitate hitting Ctrl T on your keyboard manually when you first get into the helo. And the new trim option ED added might prevent DCS world from recognizing the virtual joystick in the background. So make sure that option where DCS ignores your stick until it's centered back is not on. And make sure the helo's own trim state is cleared.

  12. All that or the labels stereo tweak did is ruin my install. My cockpit disappeared.
  13. Considering how they keep changing where this is located, ED should give us a checkbox for it in the in-game options.
  14. The HMS still blinks back and forth. Can't tell if it actually changed the depth. The labels mod might have worked. The English hud mod definitely worked.
  15. Any way to make the HMS just one eye or at least not blinking in stereoscopic?
  16. I suspect this may have been caused by the central trimmer setting in combination with a virtual PPJoy stick.
  17. when the gear is down? I get so much more wibble wobble and instability when the gear is up when in flight director mode and using my GlovePIE automatic trim update script. I notice it performs more appropriately in manually cordinated turns, in hovers, near the gound, etc, with the gear down. Perhaps it doesn't accelerate quite as quickly, but it even seems to also have a nicer tranlational lift effect. I can't tell if it's just my imagination or what. I know I'm a lot more absorbed, focused, and engaged when I've got the shadowing turned up lately in 3D stereo (a brain thing, I guess), but the gear thing seems to be doing something, too. Am I nuts?
  18. And doesn't seem to work. Brand new upgraded install. Not a good first impression of this multiplayer stuff.
  19. What, like for cyclops people? If you meet any, let me know. I'd like to take a picture. I'm interested in bigfoot, too. That million dollars Amazing Randi prize would be nice.
  20. Or is there a way to make it show up in only one eye? Like an LUA where you can say you want it to show up just in the right eye in stereo 3D?
  21. Not sure if this is a bug, but in BS 2 I lose my X65 frequently when changing GlovePIE parameters with the double pinkie tap to switch between flight modes. I never had this problem in BS 1. I have to back out of the sim, stop the PIE, and then Run it again. It's been the cause of frequent helo crashes if I don't pause quickly, as if DCS loses my controller during the mode transition from manual to one of the auto-trimming AC/AH modes. What is also kind of annoying is how frequently the damper channels turn off without me intentionally turning each off or hitting autopilot master off. This quirk is unrelated to the first issue and seems either random or when the helo orientation has gone way out of whack. It's hard to tell if the wild helo orientation is the cause of or an effect of the channels suddenly being off. Oh, and in stereo scopic the HMS flickers and would be nice to have it either at the HUD depth or depthless and assignable to one eye (preferably the right). The labels perhaps should be at the depth of the object they are attacked to. It's very strange to see the little IFF markers (little apostrophe labels, gray for enemy and bright green for friend) I use at the depth of the HUD. And I know it'd be an on-screen cheat, but you know that little red controls box you can show on screen? It'd be cool to have an engine torque readout on that. And maybe even a representation of what the autopilot is doing, too, so you can see where not only your controls are but what the AP/damping is doing. In AFCS readouts that's always real helpful to see in graph form, but just a phantom marker in addition to the diamond would be immensely informative.
