Sometimes in the US the bridges are a brighter color because they are just concrete with no black asphalt like the rest of the road.

What's the deal? All of the user made skins I downloaded are all jacked up and crazy looking. The Northeria skin (which is stock) looks ok but then has a big black canopy on the bottom of the fuselage.

Ukraine has some nice paint schemes.

I like to fly the shark in game mode for those days when I just feel like floating around blasting everything in sight. I found that since I've learned the MiG-21 it is my favourite to fly full missions in. I still love the Su-27 though and I can't wait for the updates to the Su-33 and MiG-29. I think at the end of the day I was wrong when I posted this thread. I mean I am glad I did because there were a lot of helpful things that came from it. However, I think that my initial reaction thinking that the MiG-21 is too complicated for casual fun was quite wrong. About a week of studying and practising (45min to an hour a day) was fun in itself as well as getting me able to fly this thing and blow other things up with it. So if anyone reads this because they think they may not have enough free time to learn the MiG-21 I can definitely say from experience that it doesn't take as much as you would think when initially looking at it. I swapped mine for the Black Shark but only because I said I would. After a day of MiG-21 withdrawals I bought another one.

Right and for people who are fed up with War Thunder FC3 is a pretty good way to get into DCS. I really don't get why people here look down on FC3 level planes. Not everyone has thousands of dollars to pour into joystick setup with hotas and triple screens, pedals, head tracking, head set not to mention a computer good enough to run the latest in flight sims. I think you guys would also find that the vast majority of players are casual players offline single player in spare time between family and work. The general population have lives and see something like this as a good hobby to blow off steam after a long day and don't have 12 hours a day to devote to learning the purpose of every switch, button, and lever in the cockpit. It's also pretty discouraging for new people who talk about those things being ridiculed by people with some sort of superiority complex because you're better at pretending to be a pilot than the rest of us posers...

Is there a character limit? Could mine be Grzegorz Brzeczyszczykiewicz?

I do wish they could expand upon FC3. For instance, they could make a cockpit for the MiG-31. Update some of the AI planes to FC3 standard like Su-30, Su-34. I'm sure FC3 is more their bread and butter getting all the new kids coming from War Thunder into DCS and then into the more hard core modules.

I was pretty disappointed when I first jumped into the cockpit thinking I was going to fire it up and blow up some B-52s in a couple of minutes. I'm pretty busy with work and family so I have precious little time to devote to flying. I've been in Rise of Flight and the new Il-2 series for a while now. I had DCS Black Shark 1 back in the day and loved it. I kind of dropped off the DCS radar for a few years because my rig couldn't run DCSW. I recently upgraded my rig and downloaded 1.5 and loved the Su-25T. I've been working with the MiG now for about a week. I can get it in the air and take down targets with guns and IR missiles. There is still a lot to learn but I have to say even with the difficulty I've had I keep coming back to it and find myself unable to fly any other modules. So I say thank you and great work in bringing an iconic aircraft to life. I can't wait for the Viggen!

What a lifesaver! I'm coming from FC3 and Il2 BoS/BoM to this and I was ready to send it back. This is so much better than the in game tutorial that keeps getting stuck in places.

Had some spare time today and finally managed to get this thing airborne from a cold start! I have to say though that this http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=631895889 was a lot more helpful than following the white rabbit. Now onto systems and fighting!

Where does one acquire a MiG-29 exterior model such as this? Mine is all jagged and low-poly.

Correct it is deselected. Meaning the red circle in top right screen in outside views.

Somehow it seems that the mini HUD will not go away when I fly Su-27. I usually just make a fast mission and with all of the other planes it goes away but as soon as I do a mission with Su-27 it comes back.
