What Display size (Monitor or TV) do you use?
TonyZ replied to Apache600's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
67" DLP Projection TV with RGB led lighting (no lamp bulbs or color wheel) with VGA and HDMI inputs. Also Acer 23in touch screen monitor with two attached 10" VGA monitors and cougar MFD bezels attached to them. -
You must make sure all previous targets are destroyed at all previous waypoints before JTAC becomes active. It definitely works in this mission as I have flown it many times and had no problem. Try the mission with easy radio assist set to see if it is a radio problem or a mission trigger problem. Do you get the voice message saying that you should contact JTAC to hit the target at waypoint 6. If not then you may have missed a previous target at a prior waypoint.

The WARTHOG Stick does NOT have a twist rudder so STOP TWISTING THE STICK unless you want a broken stick. :) With that said there is a small amount of play in the stick as stated in the previous posts but it is unintentional. The second thing I would say is you definitely want a stick extension for this stick. It doesn't even have to be very long. Just about 8 to 10 inches is enough but it gives the stick a completely different feel and you get much finer control so it is definitely worth it.

A ship can carrier a smaller boat and a boat doesn't.

Whatever extension you use you must make sure that if you bend the gooseneck in the extension that the handle sits right above the base when the stick is at rest. The longer the extension the more off balance the stick will be and the more trouble it will have re-centering if the C.G. of the handle does not sit right above the pivot. Also you do not need a very long extension for the stick. I use a piece of 4'' pvc drainpipe about 18 inches long with two 4 ''endcaps which I drilled out each end to mount the base plate on the bottom cap and the stick pivot base on the top cap. Then I use 1 " copper water pipe about 1 foot long with 1" to 1 1/4" copper couplers and the Gardena hose adapter for the finished extension. it has worked well for years and all you need to finish it off it the 5 pin ps/2 extension cable male to female with the tabs in the middle cut down to fit and the appropriate pin drilled out. There are other websites and post explaining how to do this.

Hate to say it but the guy in that picture wasn't even in that movie:)

=Mac= there are several English language Cockpit mods for the Russian birds. These are excellent and replace all Russian language with English text. These mods opened up a whole new world of flying for me since I also don't speak Russian. You can find the mods on the website in the user files section.

Helios and different sized monitors?
TonyZ replied to Tricky11's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It depends on how your monitors are configured in windows. If you configure them side by side then you will have a total res of 5360 x 1440 and your touch screen upper left would be X-3441 and Y-0. However if you configure the monitors in an over under config with the touch screen below the 3440 and to the left then your total screen res will be 3440x2520 and you touchscreen upper left pixel home will be at X-0 and Y-1441. -
Can we have different levels of G tolerance in DCS?
TonyZ replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS Wishlist
Well my response to that is this---If we were all 140 lbs and runners or athletes then we would be doing this stuff in real life and not in the sim :) It's because we are mostly couch potatoes that we are simming in the first place. If I could squeeze in to a real plane I would surely be flying one for real. Can we have different levels of G tolerance in DCS?
TonyZ replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS Wishlist
I think this is an exceptionally BAD idea. Firstly I agree with others in this thread that it would make the SIM too much like an MMP grind. and secondly, any pilot who is qualified to fly high performance Aircraft have already had G-Tolerence training as part of their massively expensive multi million dollar pilot training and are already at their maximum tolerance. This just seems to me to be a desperate attempt to even out the playing field between more experienced players and noobs. The best and only real way to do this is for all players to RTFM and then watch the plethora of training videos out there and then FLY THE PLANE! -
UltraMFCD - drag, resize and click display exports. Zero configuration.
TonyZ replied to Sgt_Baker's topic in DCS Modding
I have tested this a few times and found that you should first make sure that DCS runs ok without UltraMFCD running and then try running with it. When UltraMFCD first comes up go into the settings and disable the checkbox that tells it to disable MFD in the cockpit. If it still wont run then also disable all special settings like fade and then try again. I have found that DCS crashes when I tell it to disable cockpit displays and works fine if I leave them on. Also note that the displays don't come up until you are actually flying in the sim so the DCS decected message just lets you know that it sees the game and then it is just waiting for you to fly. Now as a side note I want to say a big Thanks to Sgt_Baker for this overall excellent utility. I know it is a work in progress and I wait with eager anticipation for each new update. Thanks again. -
You may want to try the 3D Connexion 6 axis Spacemouse http://www.3dconnexion.com/products/spacemouse.html I think that would be a perfect solution for your problem. Just go to their website and view the video demos there. I have this as well as my brother and the unit is recognized perfectly by windows and DCS as a 6 axis absolute mouse. It is normally used for 3D Modeling but it also works as a 6 axis controller. It has light touch forces and Relatively short throw with pressure sensitive movements. I think you could configure it to be quite comfortable with good controllability for flight simming

DCS World Su-25T operation: A Beginner's tips for beginners.
TonyZ replied to esb77's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Those cockpit lights got broken in the SU25T cockpit for ECM and Jammer a few updates ago and they still haven't fixed them yet. I don't know what the hold up is other than the SU-25T is free with the program and doesn't make the developers any money so I guess the attitude is "OH WELL! Who really cares if we broke it, I guess you should just be happy with what still works.....Maybe we'll get around to fixing it someday and then again maybe we wont. A 6 DOF cockpit is just great and I thank them for that but its not much good if the indicators in that cockpit don't all work. -
Help with Helios, Loz's A-10 profile, and init files
TonyZ replied to apoll's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
apoll- do you have Skype ? if so I can also talk you through the setup and config of all this with the advantage that a:- Skype is free b:-Skype allows screen sharing which I think will be absolutely necessary to guide you through this process There are a great many factors involved in getting you up and running but just guessing at your screen configuration and monitor placement just wont cut it. there are also a few small utilities I feel are indispensable for setups such as this. some of these are NotePad++, MouseLoc.exe, PixelWindow, and lastly Desktop Restore for saving your desktop icon positions and then putting them back when your inevitable screen res changes screw up your whole desktop. Do not give up hope. your export can be achieved with the right export files and monitor config lua's and especially the proper export.lua (and not the one that is part of helios since that one is hopelessly out of date.) -
Recommend a Great Joystick for DCS?
TonyZ replied to Visceral Raptor's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
GET A WARTHOG!!!!! PERIOD...There is no better stick and throttle out there for DCS as far as I'm concerned. I've use many others and none of them holds a candle to the TM Warthog. I would also say that the LAST thing you want is a twist rudder. Get a set of pedals on the floor with toe brakes. You will not regret it. -
You have to put at least one of your ground vehicles on each base you want to "own" in the mission editor and then save it out with a new name so all your work doesn't go bye-bye when you do the next quick mission.

Thrustmaster Warthog availability
TonyZ replied to Smorpheus84's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Try here. This is where my brother got his and they had plenty then. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Gaming-Controllers/ci/18179/N/4005352855 according to the ad they are in stock. My brother had no problems with shipping or availability. Oh and stay AWAY from amazon. We tried there first and after many weeks of BS we eventually had to cancel the order and that's when we found that BH Photo Had it. -
QFE refer to the current air pressure at the field and is used to set the barometric altimeter knob so your altimeter reads the correct altitude at the time of takeoff and landing, Since air pressure changes with time and temperature and weather you get a current update at takeoff time. The other numbers refer to wind speed and direction at that time

Help ED to help us - stateful commands
TonyZ replied to -MadCat-'s topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This post is a great idea BUT it has been moved to the wrong location. This post has NOTHING to do with mission editing and will soon get lost in the vacuum of the forums, This subject more properly belongs in the "input and output" section of the forums where it will get a much better response and not get totally lost. -
Help Request- Touchscreen kit+2monitors
TonyZ replied to 0utLAW's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I believe this may be what you want. Center = { x = 1921; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1080; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1920/1080; } } GUI= { x = 1921; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1080; } UIMainView = GUI not sure if it will work for you but it should allow you to tell the program which monitor to display the menu interface on -
You will NEVER see an AH-64 in this program because it requires 2 people to fly. One gunner and one pilot and there is no provision for multiple position cockpits in a co-op mode. This is also why you will never see an F-14 or F-15 strike eagle or ANY OTHER aircraft with a pilot and nav/gunner. Until DCS World supports multi player CO-OP in a single aircraft this will never happen. And yes ,before you say "What about the Huey?", Remember that it does not NEED a copilot. The pilot can still operate it all by himself. These other aircraft/Helos NEED a gunner as well as a pilot.
