Your favourite way of keeping an accurate lock through occlusion
Gate-5 replied to allmhuran's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yes, the laser can be used in order to get the markpoint closer to the target. Without laser the markpoint is set where the line of sight would hit the terrain. If you target a house from a low viewing angle the point will be set behind the house instead of on its rooftop. With laser the point is set where the laser hits the object (which often isn't its center but its front side). I use the mark-point technique to mark enemy positions from a distance and then refine my targeting (with TGP) during the attack run. Depending on the mission the targets might move anyways after the first unit is hit. The exact targeting point depends on the type of weapon i'm using, the type of target and how they are arranged on the ground. -
I just wanted to thank for the great mission . The first time I tryed I got hit by the strela because I didnt pay enough attention to the message ferret calling out the threats. The second time everything went well and I was able to destroy all the targets at the compound with mavericks and one CBU-97. At the first roadblock I kinda messed up with the remaining CBU-97 and the MK-82 Airs, so I had to switch over to guns. Luckily the avenger served the job well and I was able to protect the convoy until it reached the landing zone and the guys got airlifted out of the combat area. While returning towards gudata, master caution went on because I was low on fuel, but I managed to get back and land safely. Since I only had guns left for the second part of the mission I had to get in close and keep visual with the convoy all the time which was great fun. I also liked the audio messages a lot, it creates a nice realistic atmosphere .

Same here, and it often comes together with wrong colors on the ABRIS map (blue instead of green). Sometimes the target reticle is slightly visible, but most often its impossible to use the shkval, which is a huge show-stopper.

HELP! HOTAS decisions elude me!
Gate-5 replied to phd_doc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm surprised that you guys have no such problems with using the X65 in helos. Ok.. my first tries were using the twist rudder which might be one of the problems, but even tough I have proper pedals now, I feel like it could be better. This makes me even more curious about how it will be with the Warthog. The thing with force sensing is probably that you either like it or not. I think its not that I wouldn't be able to completely adapt to it, but unless I've tried a conventional stick there's always something in my mind asking if it wouldn't be better with one of those. -

Gate-5 replied to phd_doc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No, I just ordered a Warthog because of that. In the A-10 force sensing works fine for 95% of the situations, but I'm still not able to hold a stable off-center position (which gets even worse when reaching for the release trigger). As long as I can trim its not a problem, but when diving for a bomb release I don't have as much control over pitch as I'd wish to have. It gets even worse in BS2 since there's barely a situation where the stick is centered. Its probably not problem at all in games where trimming is not necessary, since I'm playing BS2 and P-51 its kind of a no-go for me. No. When plugged in it does some kind of self-centering. -
Getting the message "KC-135 killed Spike with KC-135". Actually I crashed into it while refueling and suddenly our planes broke apart in a nice fireball. Being sunk in searching infantry on the TGP (CSAR mission without labels) while slowely going into vertical dive and noticing it just before impact.

I had the same problem and with this fix it works perfect again, thanks .

How to make ground units advance in the campaign?
Gate-5 replied to Hoggorm's topic in Mission and Campaigns
Ah ok, so theres definitely something wrong there. I just started the campaign again a week ago in DCS world and it all went fine until Mission "Push 9-2-0" (where the game suddenly crashes: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92999). -
How to make ground units advance in the campaign?
Gate-5 replied to Hoggorm's topic in Mission and Campaigns
You will not get any reply to commands from the F10 menu, but the units still move out. Thats why the option was gone when you tried again. To be sure you could have a look at the F10 map, or use your TGP to watch the tanks advance. I clean the area from all threads and then give the order to advance. Since it can take very long time for them to do so I usually RTB afterwads. Once I anchord in the target area and waited for mission success, but was shot down by a Mig-29 because there was no CAP available anymore. -
Same here too... many thanks to Speed for the quick fix .

Ka-50, trim only affecting rudder
Gate-5 replied to Gate-5's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
Found the problem, my configuration was wrong :music_whistling:. Force feedback was enabled and thus the central position trimming didnt work with my stick. Now everythings perfect :joystick:. -
I just tryed to use my X65f for cyclic, collective and the G25 pedals (clutch, gas) for rudder control. The controls work fine, but the trimmer is now only affecting the rudder and not the cyclic anymore. If I only connect the X65f (G25 unplugged) , the trimmer works fine and lets me trim the cyclic as well as the rudder if set to the twist axis. Am I doing something wrong or did someone else experience the same behavior?

Same problem here. I also get stuck during the second talk on and sometimes it continues after several minutes, but never properly works again. Check out didnt work either, couldnt check in anymore afterwards.
-
Same problem in the other missions. After the first group of tanks was destroyed I got stuck during the talk on of the second group. I used the F10 map to find the targets and after about 10 minutes or so the talk on continued for 1 or two messages, but got stuck again. I'm starting the game from DCS world, 1.2.0... didnt experience that problem the last time I played the campaign with one of the older versions. EDIT: Just found out that theres another thread about this for DCS world: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1522134#post1522134

Did this happen in the first mission where there are two JTACs and the mission goal is to support the advance of three groups of tanks ? I think thats where I experienced the same problem. During the call for the second group I couldnt get anything from the JTAC (Darknight, the one near the coast) anymore. Suddenly I got hit by a Su-25 rocket and couldnt continue anyways, so I dont know if I would have gotten something from the other JTAC.

But... what else would I need ABS for? Got the point, when thinking about wear it certanly makes sence. After only flying in BF3 I somehow have to get back into simulation-mode again ;).

Since theres anti-skid id say its best to apply full wheel breaks right after all wheels are on the ground. I also think the AI has some superpowers, since my wingman can lift off earlier and steeper than me (at least during the first 20sec) during takeoff.
