  1. So what is the point then? As I understand there is NO vertical steering with surround sound (5.1).So what is it for? and why is it there? Head down in the pit with wingman close by you can tell which side or front or back He is at, but not over or under? And an exploding near miss of a sam tells You what exactly? Could someone please tell Me what this is useful for, how does it help with SA in the air? Just curious as to how this applys to a flight sim. Indispensable for a FPS but why a flightsim??? Will the positions of the sounds stay relative with trackIR use?
  2. Could someone knowledgeable about the surround sound system please comment on it? My first thoughts are: There isn't much 3d sound in a helmet, in a cockpit sitting in front of two jet engines flying at 250 knots, maybe a little at the airport. But, The one thing I would like to know is: Can You assign the in-helmet sounds and radio chatter on the center channel for headphone use and all other sounds on LF, RF, LR, RR, and Sub speakers? What exactly does the surround-sound provide in terms of realism, immersion, purpose in a military combat aircraft?
