I have built a piece of hardware for simulating the engine RPM vibrations of the aircraft You are "flying" within the sim. Its made to shake your home cockpit, chair, or desk desk. I'm calling it the SimShaker or RPMulator. I have prototyped and tested it, and now I'm done with the physical fabrication and software all that I have left to do is solder the wires and it will be complete. Then I have to make it receive rpm data from the sim and I have no idea how I'm going to do this. LOL (maybe should have done this first). Any suggestions or advice is welcomed!! Whatever port the Ardiuno is on needs rpm info from the left and right A10c engine. don't know if I need to push or pull the data. but I think a piece of software needs to be in the middle, (read rpm from sim then write, send, or make available to arduino)

RPM output to com port/arduino Can someone shed some light on doing this, or point me to some info? Thanks Yall..

Motion sickness is a conflict of horizon signals to the brain, one from the inner ear and the visual one from the eyes. It is an evolutionary trait if these signals get mixed the brain thinks you have been poisoned and trys to purge Your stomach. Some people get motion sickness and some don't. If Your vision sees a horizion and your ears feel a different horizon you may become sick. This cannot be "fixed" by a visual display that You wear over your eyes, unless your eyes can see the same horizon that your ears are feeling. This will always be a problem with VR that obscures your real vision.

Anybody have any thoughts as to why my mouse cursor won't show in the pit? It seems like it is trying to control the view, conflicting with my TIR4. DCS and the F15 are up-to-date as of this post. It works fine with other aircrafts....thanks

I have had this question for 2 and 1/2 years now.. Isn't this called radar blinking? and is it possible within DCS, I'm not quite sure if GG was answering this or referring to something else.

@tj Do You use a SSD? these things reduce boot times form minutes to seconds....Hmmm I vaguely remember something about an active running program in windows is supposed to prevent this....tbc -
Screensaver kicks in mid-mission
FatSlapper replied to tjhowse's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don't know if You are but it is not good to leave Your computer on 24/7 or days at a time. start every sim session with a fresh boot. Avoid all the screensaver nonsense by disabling sleep/suspend/auto off/blank etc. etc. etc. and just reach up and turn the monitors off when you walk away from Your computer or just turn the machine OFF and it won't be sucking up dust and wearing out bearings....If You let Your PC sleep/suspend then You have to hit the pc power button to wake it up. This feature of windows has always been buggy and problematic. -
Screensaver kicks in mid-mission
FatSlapper replied to tjhowse's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
screensavers sit in ram even when not being used, slow down boot time, suck up clock cycles, wear out Your LCD's and backlight and waste electricity! It is the very first thing You should turn off when optimizing a gaming rig. They are silly and stupid and absolutely useless since the demise of monocrome CRT monitors. If You "must" then set it to "blank" to minimize these problems. -
For over 2 years I have been wondering why the frame rates are higher when You RETURN to Batumi. Keep up the good beta testing.....

DCS Flaming Cliffs 3: Operation Grand Slam
FatSlapper replied to slamraamproductions's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Pfftt, Is that It? Is that the best You can do? LOL Superb! What a showcase! excellent work! Way to show off this sim! Nice display of all the hardware available to DCS! Thanks, enjoyed it. -
Its not so much the ECM I'm worried about, its mostly His Lights drawing attention to Our flight or to "ME" in particular. Maybe in the next update.....Thanks

""How in the hell do You get Stupid to .. activate ECM" - Comms menu"<-----Is this some kind of answer?
-
Whats the deal with "F7 Fence in, F8 Fence out, F6 Out"???? This question has been asked a few times for a long time but no answers to be found using this forums awesome search feature or a Google site search. How in the hell do You get Stupid to turn off His lights and activate ECM?????? Do the AI enemy discover the AI wingman's aircraft quicker with His lights on as they do Yours ? Why were these features disabled? Not long ago If You turned off Your lights Stupid would turn off his- this was better than it is now. I primarily fly SP as I wait for multiplayer stability.

If You can afford it stay far far away from Saitek, cheesy plastic toys which frequently ship with hardware bugs and piss poor tech support when You need a repair. I could save You some time money and trouble and sell You any number of pieces of Saitek hardware each with its own hardware bug or non-functioning .65cent Chinese switch, and You wont be mad that You wasted Your money on "New" junk. Check out CHproducts FAR superior to Fisher-Price-oops-I mean Saitek, its not perfect but the tech support is excellent in the rare event you may need it. The pedals are about the same price or cheaper than Saitek. Hmm almost forgot...their software and drivers can be quite buggy and are VERY VERY slow on updates. I own 8 different pieces of Saitek hardware and have abandon them all and spent more money on other brands to replace them I wish someone would have been open and honest and warned Me. I guess they are OK for entry level / light use but they they just don't stand up to hardcore simmin, I have used My controllers daily for ten years. Good luck with Your money!

3D immersion??? I just wish they would put the Helmet Audio on the surround sound center channel and put the World, and In-Cockpit audio on the surround channels so We can have realistic audio in our pits.

Mission recording (for web sharing)
FatSlapper replied to DiaboLusitano's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
or use the built in recorder in the ME and get the frames and res You want.......Tip/hint as You preview your track prior to recording change Your view/camera angles as You like and when You like what You got..record it "as-is"... -
If the sever list is longer than the interface window (ie You have to scroll to see all servers) then the ping times disappear. Any help here?

Are these pilots always on oxygen, even at low altitudes. Or I should ask: breathing through a mask?

I caught this while watching a CBU105 do its "thing". Using F6 view it did its thing and instead of the view switching back to the A10 after all the skeets were expended the view started to follow a strange object at a very high speed straight up, when I realized what it was I grabed a screen cap.....

Has anybody else noticed gun fire from dead tanks?? I keep seeing it out of the corner of My eye but have not been able to capture it. Well just now I was watching an AI chopper hovering well out of gun fire range of T80s and I saw what looked like a missile coming from a T80 and hit the chopper and killed it. The only vehicles in the mission were an A10, two Cobras, and twenty T80s. The debriefing says it was 9M119 which is not listed in the encyclopedia and is not carried by the T80. I could swear I have seen other mystery weapons, I will watch a lot closer now. WTF???
