  1. Using DCS 1.5.2 - no add-ons. Windows 7. Playing the Deployment campaign. Crashes quite often - here are the logs. New folder.zip
  2. How do I do it? In DCS 1.2 you could edit a file - that entry doesn't seem to be there in 1.5
  3. After firing a vikers - what are the requirements for it to be guided to the target. How far can you veer away - pitch up/down etc.
  4. I was running 1024 - not every frame and was down to 10-12 fps - when the SCHVAL is turned on. With 512 not so bad - but still a big drop. Yes w/ vikhrs also big drop.
  5. I've got a pretty powerful computer and at medium settings i'm getting pretty bad frame rates - around 40-50. But really goes down when I enable the SCHVAL - down to around 10. make playing the game impossible. What could be contributing to this problem. What does COCKPIT RES setting do - i've got it set to 1024. I'm running the production DC 1.5.2 i7 + 16GB ram + ssd + nvidia 960
  6. Starts off at 60 (have v-sync enabled) and then as i get closer to enemy - frame rate dips to 10-15. I've got a pretty powerful computer - with NVIDIA 960. I've got some settings in high - but not all. Is there a particular settings i need to lower to get a better frame rate.

  9. What's the procedure for editing DCS files? e.g. I'd like to edit the uv_26 file under mods folder i think. I edited it and saved (after modifying the permissions). Is the preferred way to copy the folder structure to the Saved Games folder. I assume if there's an update - my changes will be overwritten.
  10. My problem is fixed. I think I was using the wrong icon - also did a Windows 7 system update. Back to normal.
  11. my logs folder has just the one dcs.log file - in original post. the program hasn't crashed - it's running with a black screen and an unfamiliar music. i have to use taskmanager to terminate. i started up DCS 1.0 - and that works fine.

When I start up the game - i see the initial DCS splash screen and then after that black. after some time I do hear a background music - but not the one that I normally get - but only black screen. I'm pretty sure I ran the game at least once after the update just fine. I haven't made any changes to the computer or configuration. Attached is the log file I did rename the saved/openbeta folder to force a recreation - but same problem. dcs.txt
  14. I'm not familiar with this PVI functionality - but taking a not-so-wild guess. The PVI has an inertial navigation unit that needs to be initialized on each startup. Most INU's figure out their present position based on earth's rotation. but you can speed it up by giving it the current geo position. I bet this button allows you to enter your current gps position - so that the INU process can be sped up. It's one of those good to know kinda things - but not needed for most missions.
  15. Does this aircraft have moving map? Also is it a clickable cockpit. Thanks - plan to buy it - if affirm on both.
  16. Check the path - doesn't look right? If right, i think you should remove the /D in the start command - that switch expects a path - not a full filename. or should be start "" /d "C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable" launcher.exe --Console
  17. Excuse my ignorance - but even if you use DL - don't you need to lock on to your target and lase before you can let loose a vickers - and once released don't you need line of sight to target till impact.
  18. Don't the vikhrs need guidance from the schwal all the way to impact? If so, you can't hide completely since the schwal is on the nose.
  19. I've got coupla aircraft - how do I activate them. I've also got 1.2 installed on the same pc - will activating on the beta use one of the licenses. I believe there's a limit of 6 installs per aircraft.
  20. How do I activate modules in 1.5 - I already have these modules in the old DCS on the same computer. If I have to enter serial# - does that count towards the limit of max. installs.
  21. This seems like a HELIOS issue. I tried it w/o touching anything - and still the same. Then on the next playback - I found that even during playback, Helios allows you to set switches (main DCS screen doesn't). So I set up a few switches that I normally throw and the playback was better but not the same as original.
  22. I'm using HELIOS with black shark. I'm finding that when you play back recorded tracks - any interaction with the HELIOS panel has not been recorded and that potentially can play back a completely differently mission. For example, if I turn the master arm on using HELIOS - on the track playback the master arm is never turned on and therefore no weapons are launched. Similar problems with navigation, auto-pilot etc - then of them are activated as done in the original mission. Any help?
  23. Well that depends on how HELIOS calls the DCS functions. If DCS detects a press (main panel) - saves to track and then does the function - and HELIOS calls this function directly - then the HELIOS press is NOT recorded. If DCS detects a press and calls a function (and this function also saves to track) and HELIOS calls this function - then all's ok. I tested w/o HELIOS panel input and the track is fine. With panel input - there's a problem. I would be interested in hearing from some other HELIOS mod users wx this is this case.
  24. That didn't work. I think I may have found the problem - I'm running Gadroc's HELIOS mod. It seems like the track file doesn't save any interaction with the HELIOS panel. For example, my ABRIS, MASTER ARM are all set to off as I'm getting close to enemy - that's never the case. So I was thinking why would the heli turn left into the hillside. One of the things I do during the setup with the HELIOS is turn AUTO-TURN-TO-TARGET off. Since I do that on the HELIOS - during playback it's still enabled. So when I slew the SHKVAL to the left to look at the enemy - the heli turns left and ergo the crash. --- Just did another quick mission and i'm pretty sure that's the problem. In this mission I shoot a missile and in the playback it doesn't go off because the MASTER ARM is till off (because i did that using HELIOS) - also the ground track was off. I guess if one wants to record the tracks properly - then all the interaction has to be done with the main panel. --- Another mission with no HELIOS interaction and the track was perfect. That's too bad the HELIOS interaction isn't recorded in the track - but HELIOS is still useful for view only.
