Datalink training mission comm problems
erjdriver replied to erjdriver's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
No - i don't. Still hoping for a solution to my problem. Even though I cannot communicate with others, I played around with the commands and came up with 2 other questions. 1. Is there an CAGE SHKVAL command - is that the same as weapon reset (BACKSPACE) - if not what's the default key binding for it. 2. If I have a datalink point saved on the ABRIS - is there a way to get SHKVAL to lock on to them. I was able to select them - i.e. flash on the ABRIS by pressing the target type on the datalink panel. -
found it - thanks both.

Datalink training mission comm problems
erjdriver replied to erjdriver's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I tried 124.0, 127.0 and 127.5 No joy. Also the selector on the right for the (next to 1,2,3,4) Should it be on WING or COM. The tutorial says COM but I saw a youtube video that says WING. -
I should be finishing up the training missions and feel relatively comfortable. Like to get some recommendation for 2-3 missions (built-in) - in difficulty order. Nothing that'll blow me out of the air right away - with a reasonable chance of making back alive.
-
Trying out this mission and at the beginning it says to communicate with other members - nothing happens. I've enabled all required switches - freq is 124.0
-
I think this is a license issue. I had this same problem when I installed black shark w/o inputting a serial#. After serial# - worked fine. Do you get a prompt for a serial# when you start up the mission?
-
Never knew analog/digital - what are the key codes for the digital Skew commands. Even though I did my profile from the ground up - surprised how many are the same. Great minds...right? I see you have Abris buttons on a modifier - but how do you assign 5 buttons on that single-click button.
-
I've got Shkval skew assigned to the hotas control (behind the throttle SC). It's way too sensitive. What can I do...I assume I have to play around with the fine tuning. What values are suggested.
-
Yes I have all 4 channels enabled in FD mode and flying a flight-plan (PVI) with a dog-leg. When I get close to the middle waypoint - the heading bug at the top swings to the new heading but the bank indicator remains at 0. It's interesting that even with heading channel enabled - the heading bug swings...but not the bank indicator. A traditional flight director would always indicate the correct bank/pitch/heading to follow the current flight-plan.
-
Followup... If you have trackir - assign the z-axis to ZOOM feature. That solved all my problems (at least in DCS). Now when I move closer the hud, abris and pvi - are all clear.

[DCS World: BS2] Ricardo's Upgraded HD Cockpit Mods
erjdriver replied to Devrim's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Installed this mod and do not see much of a difference than stock - what am I doing wrong. I think I've got it installed right because the auto-pilot channel labels are different - single letters. The overhead label fonts are different. Also the PVI-800 has a reverse color - gray background...but after some time reverts to the standard black background. -
Thanks - and understood. I guess for small altitude changes - the first one is good and the 3rd one for large changes. I'm still a little bit confused by the FD mode. e.g. I created a flight plan with a 90 degree turn...when I got there - the desired heading diamond bug moved (understood) but the bank indicator stayed the same - level. Is this because I've the bank channel enabled?
-
I'm sure everyone will be glad to know, that I'm making some progress in FD mode. I had a problem where when I pressed the trimmer - it wasn't resetting the heading. I then found out that I had to disable the WPT mode on the 800 whatchammacallit. Makes sense. Now I'm finding that when I press the trimmer, it doesn't reset the new altitude. Is the "remembered" altitude - when you press the "A" button. I would have thought if altitude-hold is enabled and I pressed the trimmer - it would now give guidance for the new altitude.
-
Ok I think I was thinking that... I need to align the aircraft icon (datum) with the 2 altitude/attitude bars - both pitch (pitch axis) and bank (roll axis) So the diagram below indicates i'm flying correctly right? = -----\/------ = Whereas below means I need to pitch up. = = -----\/------
-
Yes I read that. But what am I looking for - the pitch indicator. The only thing I can think of is drawing a virtual line between the 2 parallel altitude indicators and if the 0 pitch dot is above it - i need to pitch down and vice versa.
-
I'm using trackir - when I move in closer to the hud... the hud gets bigger but the display itself stays the same. Anyway to make the hud display bigger when moving in. Thanks.
-
I'm playing around with flight director mode. I read the manual - there are some visual examples - it says the indicators are commanding pitch up and down. I don't see what to look for the pitch command. I see the bank and altitude commands - but not pitch. Or is that inferred from the speed gain/loss.

Any help on this??? Cannot steer the gun for the rear gunners.

How to enable autopilot to follow heading mode
erjdriver replied to erjdriver's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thank you guys...i did read the manual but the "section" on AP/FD was very brief and not verify clear. Pressing the button turns FD on and AP off - the button label says AP/FD - that's not clear at all. Anyway thanks - i will soldier on... -
Here's the exact solution I was looking for. http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Snap_views Let's you re-define the snapviews. Most importantly - there's a way to toggle the snapview from momentary (keys have to be down and buttons cannot be pressed) to switch (new view stays there and buttons can be pressed). I defined a key on the hotas for the toggle function and defined the views and now I have all the important displays in up close and personal.

How to enable autopilot to follow heading mode
erjdriver replied to erjdriver's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thanks guys. Ideally, like in most modern aircraft, if in auto-pilot mode - i'd like to move heading bug on the HSI and the aircraft should move to the new heading automatically...but that's ok I can steer. If I press R - it's in auto-pilot mode right? But I see the FD/AP button on the right console doesn't come on - what does that do? -
How can I set a view (inside a cockpit) - manipulate controls and then revert back to normal view. I thought about snapviews - but snapviews seem to be view only.
-
Thanks. I looked at the current key bindings - they seem to be different now. Same instructions apply?
-
How do I get the autopilot to follow in heading mode. btw, is there a manual for this heli - can't find it.
