In September I decided to fire up DCS after my upgrade to see how it would run... I got a message telling me to reactivate. OK ... I got it.. totally new PC ... I did it. A few months later I upgraded my CPU. I got another message telling me to reactivate. I came here and asked about it in this thread and I was told that since I upgraded my CPU I had to reactivate.. OK I got that.. I didn't like it but I got it.. major upgrade .. new CPU equals almost new PC even though it was going from an 8150 to an 8350 (which I still think was BS since it wasn't like I was going from a 4100 but policy is policy.. so I get that...) so I needed to reactivate..Done.. I fired it up a few times and that was that.. Fast forward to today... I decided that all things considered it might be a good idea for me to start to get more familiar with the DCS P-51 now that the possibility of a DCS WWII sim is a reality so I fired up the PC and launched .. and I got another reactivation message.. I have not done anything else to my PC... NADA.. No need withthe specs in my sig... so why is it telling me my activation is invalid and how can I fix it. I don't want to burn another activation because that will make 3 in less than 12 months.. One when I upgraded my entire PC ... One when I upgraded my CPU .. and now this... Any advice? :thumbup: These are promising times in the kingdom.. I am a flight sim fan.. particularly a prop head.. I am very excited about BoS .. and the only thing that kept me from flying in DCS was the lack of opponents.. but a WWII sim under DCS specs sounds like a winner as well .. :yes: and a huge :pilotfly:for the flight sim community and the genre in general.. If I didn't know better I'd think we were almost back to 1999 what with all the sims coming available.

OK so I tried to figure this out.. and I thought SFM was Simplified Flight Model and AFM was Accurate Flight Model.. but now I don't know what the heck it is with the addition of IFM and PFM .. so what is all that?:helpsmilie:

:unsure: .............. Wow... I never thought I would see this debate going again.. but it seems to be percolating... LOL.. I think that if Ilya is smart, he will hit up Korea first.. and then go back to WWII ... BoS is going to be here in 12-18 months .. and while some think it will suck.. I think it will be quite good.. Korea on the other hand is a totally untapped theater .. much like WWI was when RoF came out.. Now RoF has a lock on WW I at the moment... with WT & BoS in the mix I don't think coming out with a full blown DCS WWII sim would be the best direction.. Of course there are those who would snap it up in a heartbeat.. but Korea is wide open... and it is a theater that IMO encapsulates the best of both worlds... I never was a fan of modern era sims after I fell into the WWII thing ... I have FC and the A-10 .. but I never really messed with them too much.. and even though there are probably hundreds if not thousands who would love a study sim.. most folks want a simpler MO in a sim.. (at least that is my opinion as evidenced by the success of WT..) I think that if BoS falls somewhere in between IL2 and CoD as far as FMS & DMs, leaning closer to CoD .. which is highly possible regardless to what some may think it will do well.. and given that rather than copeting directly with products that are already on the market .. Korea is the place to hit the beach .. and plan to branch out either forward or backwards in the timeline from there for future projects.. I think Ilya has a sweet spot for WWII though.. He had the vision to see the Pacific as a theater to go to in IL2 which was a very good move. From my understanding Oleg wanted no part of the PTO .. it was Ilya who pushed for it and over a decade IL2 is still going strong because of it. I don't think that IL2 would have become as popular had it not ventured into the Pacific.. so it is this vision that I think we will see.. Galba.. in this new product. At least I hope so because the Korean era has not been done properly yet given the advances in technology since the last time it was done. It has Russian aircraft so as to appeal to the Russian market and it is an era that is not quite fly/fight by wire but not all seat of the pants either.

This is certainly interesting.. it is good to see Ilya working again.. I hope this new thing is the Korean era... that is a spot that is wide open for development.. and it could go from there straight into Vietnam..

VAC is a great program and Ron still supports it too. I used it in IL2 and I used my RALT key to talk to VAC. R CTRL is for TS3 and I don't want to use the same key for obvious reasons.... As for the voice recognition.. all that is a matter of how well you train the program to recognize your voice.

Yeah but in this case I went from an 8150 to an 8350.. but OK.. so .. and I am not being argumentative here at all so please don't take it that way.. but where is that stated.. and why if I upgrade my PC does it count as long as I am not still using it on my old PC .. ? Quick start guide.. Hmm.. I guess I outh to start there huh... ? :huh:

Now DCS is asking for a reactivation.. I do not want to burn one.. I think I already did when I upgraded in September but this time I just upgraded the CPU alone.. and it still asked for an activation.. I am not sure how to proceed with this and why should I have to reactivate it just because I upgraded?

Yeah I knew about BD & PD.. but it is good to know that the next two will also. I just upgraded to a PD .. selling my 6 month old BD for $125 if anyone is interested.

When you say Next CPUs do you mean the line after Piledriver? I know Piledriver is going to be AM3+. I am thinking of selling my 8150 and getting a 8350. I am not having major problems I just want better performance and I think I can sell the 8150 at a fair enough price to make it appealing to someone who wants to upgrade and not take a beating. SZ is right about the multitasking. I can have Photoshop running with IL2 open in the background while doing a virus scan and surfing and listening to WinAmp and nit a stutter anywhere. Switch over to IL2 and fly while doing a download without a hiccup.

So far my rig is doing it's job. I hope the next processor is also an AM3 socket.

Try to make sure there are no default functions mapped that you are not aware of. I have been using SST since the X-45 days and have had no problems at all with it other than some of it's functional limitations which are easy to work around given my stick config. Flickering lights and loss of profile sounds like either a connector somewhere on the stick is not making full contact or it could be a USB issue.

I need to make some space on my SSD so I am considering moving DCS from there to my SATA HD ... can I just move it over ? Does DCS make registry entries that I need to concern myself with?

Nice rig .. similar to mine.. except I haver a HD7870 GPU and a 256G SSD. I also decided to go with air cooling.. I have no issues whatsdoebver with this rig. I know what the pudits say about AMD vs Intel.. but I am happy. I got my 8150 for $180 in September ..the Vishera is $200 @ Microcenter

I know this thread is almost 2 years old but.. WoP is NOT the newer version of IL2. Two totally separate products. The original WoP code was based on the IL2 code.. but they changed it by the time of release.

Pretty nice software.. The first one is freeware but if you want to support the dev t is $14. The Riff Station SW is 40 Euros.. or $51 ..but it is great.. it comes with a free 30 day trial. Fretted instrument SW Riff Station

Yes that doesn't work because the P-51 doesnt show up.

I am not sure how to reload DCS P-51 on my new build. I DLd DCS World from scrtatch and then transferred my backed up DCS folder but the P-51 does not show up as purchased. What do I need to do to correct this?
