Limited by purpose, not by design. Its primary task is Recon, and that is how it was designed and optimised. It has the capability to strike when a fast strike is needed, but that compromises its primary mission. They have chosen wisely to leave recon to better suitet aircraft (UAVs) and have their helos optimized for attack.

How is the cancellation of a light recon stealth chopper with limited strike capability connected with the future of attack helos?

In order to make the warning system as reliable as possible, you make it as simple as possible. It simply triggers when the parameter goes bolow or above some threshold. It's also a kind of a test for the warning system. If it was to include some filter that made the warning dissapear when it is normal for the warning to light (like it is normal for the hydro pressure to be below threshold when no pumps are on) that filter might fail in a critical situation, and the warning may not show when it's really needed. For this reason, you simply tell the pilot to ignore that type of warning in that phase of the startup :)

I refer to attacking any real army with an organized air defense. I'm not saying that those people targeted can not incure damage to their enemy, and I am aware of the fact that they frequently do. But not against a helicopter, in that phase of the flight.

You would think wrong. I believe in the story that it works as designed, I just don't like it. It's easy to create a spray if needed, but no way to make an inheretly inaccurate gun hit a spot.

Again, I do not wish to raise the question of guilt here of either those people on the ground, or people in the helicopter. I'm just saying they had no means of returning fire aginst the helicopter, and that is why it had the luxury of having a retry at getting them.

Yes, it's usefull at picking out unarmed people (not questioning their innocence here) running in the streets, but pull that stunt in a real battelfield and whushhhhhhhhhh bang. You're dead. No chance for that second and third attempt.

Notice the disco balls on that Mi-17. Wonder if it's equally unsuccessful at protecting it, as it is on the Apache I also wonder if the person who mounted two of them knows what they're doing.

KUB SAM sorry for bad quality I was standing about 5m behind it, and the exhaust warmed me up nicely on this cold day. Nice heat signature, huh :D Also in the video are some radars and a Gazelle. All part of Sretenje 09 exercise. This was from a rehursal few days ago, when visibility was much better: (second video not by me)
