  1. This was my original thought too. BUT: From Wags' explanation of things, I understood that they weren't planning the cockpit upgrade for SU27, only the external model upgrade. He said that ED listened to the community and decided to add features (for example a better 3D 6DOF cockpit for the Flanker), which is why they also decided to raise the price of the final product (when it's released). If ED was planning the Flanker cockpit all along, why would they now decide to raise the price?
  2. Implementing 6DOF (movement of the head inside the cockpit) is relatively easy (there's already a mod that does this). But ED is doing a high-polygon new 3D model of the SU-27 cockpit, to match the quality of F15 already in FC3. It won't be fully functional (as a DCS title, like A10C), as that would mean simulating systems and avionics that a DCS level aircraft needs. It won't take a year, but it's not a trivial matter for ED to do. Making a detailed 3D model of the cockpit takes some time.
  3. You can uninstall Steam version, and download these directly from http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com: 1. DCS World 1.2.2 2. DCS A10C First install DCS World (this is the base program with the terrain), then install DCS A10C (it will automatically find DCS World installation). Run DCS World and play any mission with A10C (for example any Training mission). The program will ask you for activation. You only need to insert the serial number that you have from your Steam A10C (in Steam, go to your library, click DCS A10C, then find the CD KEY - that's the serial number). Happy playing. Oh, and with DCS World, you also receive SU25 for free, so you can fly that airplane as well (although it's not as detailed as the Warthog).
  4. Sounds to me like you get kicked from servers a lot? Just a theory: many people DON'T get kicked from servers. Maybe it's not the 'high standard admin' that is the problem, maybe it's the 'low standard you'? Just a theory. Although dedicated servers WOULD be nice. Not for the reasons AirMarshal stated, but to enable a real large scale multiplayer environment. Like 100s of players flying at the same time...
  5. Happy flying :) And don't worry, BS2 installation automatically finds DCS World.
  6. 1. Download and install the latest DCS World installation (3 gigs). The current version is 1.2.2 (the 1.2.3 update is on the way though). 2. Download and install the latest DCS BS2 installation. 3. Run DCS World 4. Run a BS2 mission 5. When the game prompts you to activate, insert your BS2 serial number.
  7. A10C on Steam is the older version. You should definitely install DCS World and DCS A10C module - both are currently at version 1.2.2 while Steam A10C is 1.1.1.1. To activate A10C within DCS World, you need the Serial number you received when you bought it in Steam (you can find that serial if you click on your game in your Library and find 'CD Key'). And if you own Black Shark, you should think of the upgrade to BS2, which is also DCS World native. So, with all the above, you should buy P51D on http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com and use it within DCS World, which is constantly getting updates. This way, you have ALL your DCS modules under ONE platform, DCS World. All modules fly the same terrain, so you don't waste your precious disk space on multiple installations.
  8. @Soulres: Lock on will NOT work with DCS World and you should not install it in the same folder with DCS World. It is only needed to validate FC3 (which is DCS World native). You can install Lock on, install FC3, activate FC3 (by, for example, flying one of FC3 missions within DCS World, which upon mission launch promtps the activation window where you insert your serial), and then delete Lock on.
  9. The email appears to have been released a bit early. No exact date for the update has been given yet.
  10. Wags made a very decent explanation about the beta/final price difference. From this, I see that ED initially kept beta and final prices the same. They decided to raise the price of the final release of FC3 because of the added features. But they also did a very fair thing and kept the beta purchase price the same (i.e. lower). All I can say is KUDOS. In fact, I'm so overly impressed by ED's actions that today I bought the Combined Arms module, which I originally wasn't that interested in (as I'm all about the flight). It felt like the right thing to do, to support this great company.
  11. Seems to me like people are offered a finger and suddenly want to take the entire hand. If ED were to give FC3 away for free, I bet someone would show up and say "I'm a FC2 owner, so ED should pay me".
  12. I totally understand. But here's a simpler explanation why I think Su27 will have a new 3D cockpit: When ED announced FC3 and started the presale, the features listed say: "New 6 degrees of freedom (6DOF) cockpit and model for the F-15C." As you can see, there was no mention of a new 3D cockpit, so my belief is that 'New 6DOF cockpit' means 'new with an upgraded 3D design'. There is a mention for a new model for the F15C, but that refers to the upgraded 3D model of the aircraft. The announcement for the new SU27 cockpit is identical: "The most noteworthy being a new 6 DOF cockpit for the Su-27 Flanker." We are already getting the upgraded 3D aircraft model with the 1.2.3 update, so this announcement is identical to the one about F15C.
  13. Since F15's 6DOF cockpit is essentially a very detailed 3D cockpit, I'm guessing Flanker's cockpit will have to go the same way. I would like to see it clickable, too (atleast to some degree, I fully realise it can't be A10C-realism here), but I'm happy this bird will be getting some loving.
  14. Isn't 'drones' a widely spread and commonly used term for these things? Even if it's not entirely accurate, everyone is using this term. It's like saying one shouldn't say 'turntable' but should instead use the proper term, 'phonograph'. But more importantly: Aren't drones piloted by cameras on the drone, the signal of which the pilot sees in on his monitors? I.e. the drones aren't piloted through a simulated virtual airspace (such as DCS World), so basically this thread has no point whatsoever, as ED works on SIMULATIONS, not technology to remotely control real life systems.
  15. Even customers that buy FC3 NOW, will need to also buy LOMAC or a previous FC version. So, as you see, FC3 costs exactly the same for EVERYONE.
  16. The requirement is logical: you need to have a valid ACTIVATED installation. If they only required you having to point to installation files on a disc, who says you own the proper licence (serial number), and don't just have a burned CD of the LOMAC installation? And anyway, the installation process takes 5 minutes for LOMAC, and you can delete it from the hard drive afterwards.
  17. It's not only Chrome, either. This cookie problem shows up on Firefox as well.
  18. That's what I said. The thing is, if you're buying FC3 now, there's no point in buying LOMAC later, as it's fun flying FC3 planes today, while still in beta.
  19. That makes no sense. If you buy FC3 now, while in beta, you still need a valid Lock On installation to play FC3. You will need a valid Lock On installation when FC3 is released officially, as well. The discount is for the FC3 upgrade to Lock On. You need LOMAC or previous FC to play it, in either case. The final release of FC3 still won't be 'standalone' and will still require LOMAC.
  20. It's not 'now and again'. This happens as soon as you get that cookie from the website, close your browser and go to the website again. It's a common problem, as it seems. I fix it by deleting the cookies for all DCS and ED websites (Chrome > Settings > Show advanced settings > Privacy-Content settings > All cookies and site data). After that's done, I can log in normally into DCS website and shop. But as soon as I close the browser and go back to the website later, same cookie problem all over again.
  21. Pretty sure ED had this upgrade in mind when they started working on FC3. I doubt they would be able to produce such an upgrade from scratch in the short time since the release of FC3 beta (and the community ideas concerning Flanker).
  22. I'm not sure if this thread is supposed to be serious or a joke? It's Christmas / New years, not April Fools, you know?
  23. You could probably find it HERE. The Flight manual seems to be from August 27th 2012 (at least that's what it says in the file properties).
  24. ED, would it be possible for you guys to add a second serial number in the BS2 upgrade installation activation? This way, us owners of BS2 upgrade would simply insert BS1 and BS2 serials into the activation window, and be done with it - without having to first install BS1 (and wasting 4 gigabytes of hard drive space on a game we won't even play).
  25. DCS Black Shark does not work in DCS World. DCS Black Shark 2 does. If you want to fly the Ka-50 in DCS World, you need to buy DCS Black Shark 2 upgrade version (20$).
