Slew on digital hat: 8-way possible?
JayPee replied to JayPee's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Which lua file? -
If my understanding is correct you can map slew to analog axes for 360 deg. directional and slew speed control, or to a digital hat for a 4-way control at max. slew speed. Is it possible to map slew to an 8-way digital hat, making use of the horizontal, vertical, and diagonal axes? How? Obviously still at max. slew speed since it's digital.

Missed the x64 BETA. Found it and it's running! Shanks.

OK, will wait for a reply. :) Take care and have fun with your iPod/iPad/iPhone/iMaid.

This is getting a bit confusing.. Msalama made a graphics.lua to override the default graphics.lua, I get that. ED advices against that but since Msalama did not include an autoexec.cfg, I override the graphics.lua. But, what about his graphics.cfg then if that is supposed to be legacy??
-
Instead of which original graphics.cfg? The graphics.cfg generated by the DCSW installer or the graphics.cfg you provided in your ZIP? I'm very grateful for your effort but right now I'm kinda confused what each file (high.lua, graphics.lua, graphics.cfg, the SmallFX, etc.) does and how they relate to eachother?

It doesn't work on W7x64 tho... Too bad.

Thanks for the answer. After I posted earlier today I spend a few hours of research on up-to-date tweaks and whatnot. At least my own conclusion is that quite a lot has been moved/altered since the creation of this thread and is therefore obsolete. No offense to the authors in this thread, I'm sure they did their best helping the community back in the days when this topic was composed! For more up-to-date information, please refer to: June 1, 2013 Performance Guide For DCS World by TZeer October 12, 2012 Bad FPS? Give these a try by msalama July 29, 2013 Bad FPS? Give these a try, pt. II by msalama Part I describes a lot of actual tweaks. Part II describes these same tweaks, their revisions, and a wrap-up in premade files so you don't have to do it yourself. Perhaps links to these topics should be put in the opening post of this thread for easy referencing?

Thanks, will try it as soon as Im home. Also, is it best to set the process to 2 threads on 1 core, or to set it to 2 physically different cores?

Is it possible to have the exe lock or autoset the CPU affinity so I don't have to manually do this everytime I start a flight? Tried some utils I found via Google but so far all are very old and don't work on i7s and W7x64. Also, with hyperthreading enabled, is it safe to assume W7 appoints CPU 0 and 1 to core 1, CPU 2 and 3 to core 2, etc.?

This topic was started on March 27, 2010. I would like an answer to this question as well, with respect to DCSW A-10C anno 2013.

I'd swear I saw a topic containing nvidia profile settings for DCS but I cant find it anymore. Can someone give me some pointers on what to set the nvidia profile to for best FPS and for best quality. Also, is it generally better to force AA modes and AF thru drivers or to let the application control it?

Im not sure what middle and far does, but I do know I have to set near clip to 0.0, otherwise the game bugs on an intel integrated chipset, even if it is explicitly set to only use the dedicated video card.
-
Awesome, thank you.
-
My bad, check my EDIT
-
Theyre called clip_near clip_mid clip_far They all occur 3 times; under low, medium, and high
-
Can anyone give me the default clip near, mid, and far values for the config.lua? Thanks! EDIT: my bad, I mean graphics.lua
-
Got any pointers besides the fact that I have to edit a file? That way I can try and Google for myself 'cause Black Shark mouselook in A-10C didn't get me any results so far.
-
Yes, thanks. But that is not what I am looking for. I'd like to have mouselook enabled by holding down a modifier, not toggling my mouse function from point and click to mouselook by constantly enabling/disabling a 'mode'.
-
As per default setting my mouse axes and wheel are used for panning and zooming in external views and to move the cursor and turn knobs in the cockpit view. Additionally I'd like to set up a modifier+axes to control view pitch and yaw in the cockpit and modifier+wheel to zoom (that is: zoom, not shift along the z-axis). I've tried to do this in the control section but the axes controls do not let me map the mouse for in-cockpit view, only keyboard buttons or stick buttons. Is there a way to achieve this? Mods, scripts? A-10C HOTAS cheat sheet.pdf

Wouldn't they be better off improving this thing in a way you don't need the TV screen at all? Cause this seems a bit like Philips Ambilight 2.0.

Please leave a reply if you're using FactrackNoIR version 1.7 alpha 10. I need help setting up Accela Mk 2 filter curves. Thanks.

Headtracking and or free view Problem
JayPee replied to RedDragon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I had the same.. Axis responding in the control setting menu but not in the cockpit itself. Solved it by placing headtracker.dll both at ROOT/BIN/headtracker.dll and ROOT/BIN/HEADTRACKER/headtracker.dll. Very weird as they say you should only place it at ROOT/BIN/HEADTRACKER/headtracker.dll but it did the trick for me. Placing it solely in ROOT/BIN/headtracker.dll resulted in the game not recognizing the headtracker at all. -
Issue solved by properly assiging and fine tuning the assignments. Trim is still an issue it seems but that's not joystick related, that's just me never having flown this sim before. Time for some serious training I guess!

Thanks for the replies so far, I'll look into it tonight.
