Looking for comprehensive dumb bombing guides
JayPee replied to JayPee's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Flagrum, that bit I do know yet you still wrote a perfect confirmation. A SPI might not be needed for CCIP CR but I'm asking if it is possible to have the CCIP CR pipper auto designate the current SPI? So your chances of inaccurately designating the impact point via the HUD are reduced. -
Looking for comprehensive dumb bombing guides
JayPee replied to JayPee's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I get that, obviously. But my issue here is the DCS manual's tendency to only explain what an abbreviation stands for and where I can find the button in the pit. That still leaves out the user's guide aspect of how to use a system. To name a few things: - What is the practical relevance/effect of tail, nose, and t/n settings? - 82AIRs use tail for chute deployment and nose for slick according to the manual, but what is the difference between FIXED HI, FIXED LO, and PLT OPT? - MIN ALT, I get that this is the minimum altitude, but how do I know which situation asks for which altitude? - RACK DEL and EJECT VEL, no clue why I would change them? - AJD right and up, is that somehow related to predicted wind speeds? - TOF, why would I change this? - Bombing profiles (altitude, angles, speeds), how to judge when to use which profile? No point in making this a mile long list, it's just that these are the sort of questions I have. All in all I'm looking for some sort of a deployment guide. I mean, those who do know what I am talking about here must have gotten their knowledge someplace, somehow. Funny to see people always putting so much emphasis on JDAM and LGB tutorials, but those were the first weapons I mastered and I hardly miss a target ever since. Maybe I'm a bit overreacting but it's kinda frustrating not knowing how to become as proficient as those showing perfectly performed attacks on YT. -
Looking for comprehensive dumb bombing guides
JayPee replied to JayPee's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Oh, well I'm happy when I get a dumb bomb on a stationary target, let alone on a flying aircraft.. And my in-sim nick is not JayPee ;) Anyway, back on topic. -
One key press, two different commands simultaneously, possible?

Got Auto Hotkey to work. Too bad it's an external app and not something within DCS. -

I don't know about you guys but for me at least the problem solved itself for all servers. I'm guessing a temporary version mismatch with the latest update... -
Looking for comprehensive dumb bombing guides
JayPee replied to JayPee's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
What do you mean? What does my question have to do with bombing teamplayers? I don't think that's even possible unless someone's playing a ground unit via CA right? -
Are there any comprehensive guides on dumb bombing? Most YT clips and tutorials state the difference between CCIP, CCIP CR, and CCRP, but that's about it. I'm looking for pro tips on all kinds of bombing profiles; what to use when and why. Fuse settings, fuse types, ejection speeds, FIX HI, FIX LO, PLT OPT, delivering angles and altitudes, practical implications, etc., those are the things I'd like to learn about. I've read the battle book and TOF tables by the 476th but that's more like a quick reference when you already know exactly what you're doing. Also the manual and the training mission aren't in-depth really. Quick question for now: by default you can slave the CCRP pipper to your SPI. Is it possible to slave your CCIP CR pipper to your SPI as well instead of manually designating by pulling the pipper overy your SPI on the HUD?

I was merely kidding with that response. Ofcourse it's good to see ED implemented it. ;)
-
You had anything to do with it suddenly popping up? ;)

Pffff bleh!

Funny. I really thought about this. However, ECM pods in general are simplified in DCS. So if it's possible in real life to mount both -131 and -184, we might as well mount the -184 in-sim too as it doesn't make a functional difference anyway. Regarding TGPs however, the Sniper (XR) is significantly different from the Litening. Hence mounting the Sniper on a pylon while retaining the functionality of the Litening goes against my sense of realism. Others are free to do whatever they want ofcourse. If it makes any sense, if the in-sim -131 or ECM in general were accurately modeled, I would've never used the -184 if that would mean -131 capabilities with -184 looks.

Could you guys report back on bugs etc. please? Like to know if it conflicts and whatnot. Tell me...

One key press, two different commands simultaneously, possible?
JayPee replied to JayPee's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
OK Seil, will try it. But I still want to try to handle it in-game. I don't want to make a trashcan of my computer by installing an app for every possible inconvenience. -

Yeah but it doesn't include joystick buttons and it's another third pt. app... -
One key press, two different commands simultaneously, possible?
JayPee replied to JayPee's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Well, if I could create a new command which combines the function of multiple other commands, that would be a step in the proper direction. Or a macro combining the two. -
Quick question, how can I have one key press execute two different commands simultaneously? JOY_BTN_POV1_DL when pressed should execute both iCommandPlaneRadarDown & iCommandPlaneRadarLeft at the same time and when released should execute iCommandPlaneRadarStop. I tried this but it doesn't recognise semicolon as a separator combining the two commands. I think it's obvious what I want to achieve. {combos = {{key = "JOY_BTN_POV1_DL"}, }, pressed = iCommandPlaneRadarDown; iCommandPlaneRadarLeft, up = iCommandPlaneRadarStop, name = "HOTAS Slew Down Left", category = "8-way slew"}, First winning answer gets milk+cookie.
-
I'm going to bump this thread because I'm looking for the same. I need to bind an 8-way digital hat to an 8-way digital slew function. The default mapping interface only allows a 4-way digital slew function, or 8-way analog a.k.a. ministick.

AN/ALQ-184 for the A-10C ready Reserved for additional notes It seems my .PNG doesn't look as subtle as all the others do so I might make a nicer one in the future. This is a mere detail however and I trust it is quite clear what you're about to mount on your station. Currently awaiting approval for the download section.
-
Version Beta 1, for public testing of incompatibilities, conflicts, and odd behaviour. Information This small mod makes it possible to load the AN/ALQ-184 ECM pod on the A-10C at stations 1 and 11. It does not overwrite or replace the AN/ALQ-131 ECM pod in any way, it is an addition to the selectable load. In reality the -184 is an improved ECM pod compared to the -131. However, this improvement comes mainly from technical differences regarding what happens 'under the hood'. Since the fact that the current modeling of countermeasures in the DCS series is simplified anyway, a -184 would not be cheating as it does not offer better ECM perfpormance in-game anyway. Screenshots Installation This mod is JGSME ready so copy and paste it in your JGSME mods directory and you're good to go. This mod is compatible with version 1.2.6. Future updates might require changes to the files. So far no integrity issues when joining a server which does not have this mod applied. Feedback Feedback is always welcome. Please post your reactions in this topic. Like it? Use it? Rep. it! Acknowledgement The mod is originally a part of a larger mod package for internal use by a vFS. The author allowed making it available to the public. Distribution is unlimited and everybody is free to incorporate it in any way in his/her own mod or project. ALQ-184 ECM for the A-10C.zip

Connection interrupted cannot connect to any server?
JayPee replied to Dudester22's topic in Multiplayer Issues
Same problem here... Yesterday evening (GMT+1) everything was fine. Now I can't get in any server. EDIT: Deleted the saved games DCS folder but still no effect. Roughly 75% of all public servers give me "connection interrupted". Is there a debug log file of any kind that can show me some useful info besides a generic error message? EDIT2: Changed my public IP to rule out any conflicts, didn't help either. -
For those who'd like to make use of it, here's a plain keyboard chart template for both ISO and ANSI layouts in Excel format. A regular key's workspace is divided into 5 rows and 3 columns so you should have enough space to fit all your mappings nicely in it. But ofcourse you're free to merge cells to your own taste. For editing I suggest you turn on grid lines, for printing/viewing it's best to turn them off. If you select the keyboard's cells you should be able to read all your mappings fine when printing the selection as landscape on an A4 paper with Excel's small margin setting. You could also opt to print the arrow keys and numpad on a different page. Again it's all up to you, it's just a template to get you up to speed.

We won't be getting that for the same reason we won't be seeing a 64E block 3 and 10C suite 7.
