  3. Sad to hear that!
  4. I unfortunatelly couldn't visit Belgrade, my car broke down, so I hope I'll see some good photos here. regards!
  5. Hey Namenlos, what's in the last picture of your last post?! What kind of payload is that?
  6. Few days ago near Slovenian capital of Ljubljana hot air baloon crash caused 4 deaths and 21 injuries: http://www.jutarnji.hr/tragedija-u-sloveniji--u-padu-dva-balona-najmanje-18-ozlijedenih-i-dvoje-mrtvih/1049283/ http://www.nezavisne.com/novosti/ex-yu/Tragedija-u-Sloveniji-Balon-se-zapalio-u-oluji-putnici-u-panici-iskakali-iz-njih-155495.html Articles are in Croatian. It was a largest baloon in the region capable of 30+ passangers but stormy weather got in their way so it descended too steep and bounced of the ground, got on fire and finally crashed causing fatalities. With baloon on fire some of the passangers jumped from it and got hurt.
  7. I also think it was MiG-27...video quality is poor but I think it had no oval radome... And yes this seems to be the first one they got. I heard ony small arms fire no AAA here. Official statement was a tecnical difficulty during training flight...
  8. How many polys?!
  9. I'll go back to OAF again since it happened pretty much over my head and I read, watched and heard much of the hype...Most of the JRV Fulcrum pilots experienced radar failures of some kind during their intercept sorties. I simply don't believe that each failure was due to lack of spares and poor maintenance. Radars failed to catch any contacts while airborne but were good to go while tested in shelters... Thing is that ex JRV never actually faced ECM garbled airspace, latest oportuntiy was during '70s with Soviet ECM jams over Hungary...during that time most of the JRV inventory was of Soviet origin too so it was less affected by same or similar equipment. So like GGT said, without modern ECCM present with JRV any chances of track, lock and guidance during OAF were reduced to zero so blaming it on a faulty radars became excuse of incompetence...
  10. Dogfights usually happen when somebody does something wrong... Yugoslav MiG-29 in '99 OAF were sent up against superior adversary who had more aircraft and 90% of it's fleet was more modern than those Fulcrums. Those MiG's were usually equipped with R-60 and ocassionaly but rarely R-73 misslies since Yugoslavian airforce (JRV) seriousely lacked Alamos (delivery of Alamos to JRV dates back to 1987/88). On the other hand, there's a probable cause since taking SARH means you have to use your onboard radar to track, lock, shoot and maintain lock up until a hit. Having radar lit in this case could only contribute against you since it's more of a beacon, emiting your position than it can help you engage any of the aircraft. So the tactic was to follow the GCI, loiter in the weed and when hostile fleet approaches to pop-up and engage with IRs and guns. This is pretty much the WWII tactic from Battle of Britain period as JRV probably thought there's gonna be hundreds of aircraft flying next to each other that can be taken out with a cluster bomb exploding in midair. As you can see this tactic sucked. So keeping your hopes high pushing for WVR fight or dogfight in today's battlefield in nonsense... None of those Fulcrum pilots knew what hit 'em...
  11. 1) Viable enough considering that most of the BVR radar missiles intended for use in ECM/ECCM theater have HOJ option. Soviet union lagged in electronic warfare so more emphasis was given to development of IR weapons. 2) IR long range missiles ot HOJ radar missiles are the option here again... 3) I think so...
  12. That's always the case with Zhukovsky...I remember both 2007 and 2011 MAKS airshows where the sun fries straight into your eyes and lens. Professional photographers are usually located at the giant tower at the SW.... However today's cameras can be well adjusted for some really good looking photos in contralight...
  13. ^^^^ ?!? Russian banks?
  14. Well...I can't say...I beileve it's real.
  15. There's no need for F-22 over Syria...single wing of conventional airsuperiority 4th gen fighters can do the same job. IMHO there's 190 Raptors produced and that's enough for world domination.
  16. Are U sure you saw Su-30SM and not the -30MK?! Where was this assembly line? KNAAPO or IAPO?
  17. ^^^^ Hmmm intersting photo, all of the Fulcrums are SMT, most of the Flankers are SM and those Frog are probably also upgraded variants!
  18. MArkers like this are usually used for calibration of photo / video equipment...however there are 2 lines that might represent placement of the radar...
  19. They're same in shape, the only dffierence is camo...
  20. Is tha a Russian Su-33?
  21. So don't fart in your rubber suit...
  22. Well trained MiG-21 pilots used to beat MiG-29 pilots during mock up dogfight in 1988 in ex Yugoslav AF. the thing was that MiG-21 pilots explored it to it's limits while MiG-29 pilots were stil getting used to a new aircraft. Tiffy vs Raptor in turn fights with Raptor limited to maneuvers up to 6 G is a no problem for a Tiffy...In fact even MiG-21 can have Raptor for lunch in such conditions. Thing is Raptor is a steath aircraft when your eyes and sensors can't see it. When it comes close it's an aircraft just like any other. With pending 6G limit it's as deadly as an old F-8 Crusader...
  23. ...and they live today arguing on who's to take the credit...
