Always create a Copy of Lock On folder, rename default one to whatever you wish: Lock On original is my choice then rename Copy folder to Lock On and install any mod you test or wish to explore. This way you can always revert to original settings (folder)...
I've got a 250mb partition on my HDD used only for Lock On, FC, FC2 and BS. just in case of FC2 there are several copies of original FC2 folder, one of them is used for testing new mods I wish to use (3D vehicle and aircraft models, Airforce packs, VNAO, VEAO, AdA etc) one of them for testing various environment mods (terrain textures, static objects, skins, airbases) and one is active where I finally implement mods I'm certain with.
Installation used for MP is, of course, a separate folder with stripped scenery and optimized for high FPS.
