I like this idea. And the suggestions far are great. V-2 rocket sites. I'd like some more naval units. Some to shoot at, like some Third Reich Battleships. The little boats that hit the shores on the D-day landings, with a little animation where the troops it's carrying would get out. Ready to go. I've asked it before, but I would like to see a small static air field, like the FARP's but for planes. All the airfield and landing strips in Normandy are kinda clustered around a small area and I want a plane FARP equivalent so I can at least place a landing area for planes somewhere else on the map. UK radar. I'm hoping we get the Stukas at some point, then I can create missions where's I'm stopping the Stukas destroy UK Radar site. More Trains, as they are both good targets and I'm hoping to see the weaponised trains the TR made. I'd like to see another static object that's like the air show crowd, but it's civilians watching. I'd also like a wounded group of people static object, for rescue missions. U-boat construction facility. Would be a good target. I'm hoping to see more French, Belgium, Danish unit's. I really feel those countries aren't being given the focus they should, as they had a huge part in the war too. Some good structures too. As the third Reich war machine, had a lot of factories, which made the weapons. Also I'd like to have all these ww2 units, available for all terrains. Not just Normandy. Thx

Space Hog's. In A10 Cuba. Appears in this vid around 6:35

I used to play a flight sim on the Mac which had an asteroid level. I've forgotten which sim it was. I keep thinking it was A10 attack and Cuba, but i could be wrong. It was that vintage of Flight sim. But Anyway. There was a special zone, which was on an asteroid out in space. There was a smaller landing strip in a floating asteroid in the middle or something like that. Anyway, I must have flown there more than in the real terrains. I'm fine with fake terrain and theaters of operation as long as they are made very well. I really really want some variety. Plus its not like there will be political issues with a fake land mass. Or fake countries. How about some Islands around a big island. Or somewhere based loosly on a real place. I'm really hoping the DCS dev's do an Xplane and make a default genereic world. and then add terrain mods over time. I've been flying around the Caucasus for so long. Even in Xplane I ended up in the Caucasus just because I know the area. Then there's eras / time. Normandy instead of 2000 on wards. The Caucasus map is an older era right? Novorossiysk doesn't exist in real life. Gelendzhik isn't right. I actually took the time to create it for Xplane. https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/39211-gelendzhik-airport/ So now i always try and takeoff from Gelendzhik. I noticed while researching Gelendzhik that you can still see where the older airport was located. Funily it's where the current one in 2.5 is located. And then there's Mestia Airport up in the mountains. I was so let down when i found out about that little airport. It would be such a sweet location for some action. Again I made it for Xplane. https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/40069-ugms-mestia-airport-queen-tamara-airport/ But then again. the version of the Caucasus in DCS is older then now, and it's missing things that are they now. I'll always want both. Give me the world and then more. How about terrains from history, legend and myth, then there's places from Films. Alternative History's. So back to the point. Yes I'm fine with fake terrains. As long as the terrains are done well. Flying the plane well is my top priority, where I fly it, and what against, well that's up for interpretation. The Planes and helicopters are the stars of this show. Not as concerned which theater i see them in :)

Sweet :D Nice to see some new additional being created. Can never have enough and great to see new ground and naval units being made. I wander if one can land a harrier on the back of that ship :)

Winch outside the left door?
Kaned Dragon replied to irfanahmed1979's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
That's a shame. Was hoping there would be an animated guy who could descend and ascend in it. Has there been any talk about giving it a function in the future? -
Winch outside the left door?
Kaned Dragon replied to irfanahmed1979's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Can we use the winch for anything? Or is it just ornamental? -
I was talking to friends about cliffs of dover before it was released. But then it got released and blasted. I heard there were tones of bugs. and it's only the one theater of operation and only one era of aircraft. I'm too invested into DCS now. I guess I'm saying I'd rather focus on one flight simulator, which has a lot of choices. Than buy that flight sim that only does one thing. DCS really is the best choice right now. Now it's evolved to DCS 2.5 with the new game engine, the new consolidation of all the modules into one program. We have a really good choice of both planes, helis, ground vehicles. There are 3 terrain option, the Persian gulf is coming. We can make our own mission or do campaigns. Cliffs of Dover, IL Sturmovick. They're all too old :-/ All DCS is missing our some Stukas, IL Sturmovick and larger ww2 bombers and that's it we got a full ww2 flight sim. I wouldn't be surprised if a naval module gets made at some point. There's actually land at the bottom of the ocean now. Get some proper Subs in there at some point too. DCS has variety other flight sims don't. Now it's a module based program it has the capacity for all the generations of flight. And absolutely yes John Hargreaves. "respect for the history of aerial combat". Just look at the Saber and Mig-21. Those were made by dev's who had passion, love and respect for those aircraft. DCS is a fully modular based game, which means over time they can theoretically just make more modules for it. instead of making entire new sims. Not just units but also terrains. We got a good amount of modern aircraft. They made some mid era and ww2 aircraft. I'm hoping for everything in time. Also didn't the Tigermoth do some actual combat in it's time in service? It's got the machine guns, I read it dropped bombs later in development. How about the Fokker Dr.I :)

I'm serious. I'd like to see some Biplanes, WW1 ground units and Naval units. Down the line sometime. When DCS was Lock On, the premise was a modern jet combat simulator. The Caucasus, Black sea region. Only 2 US aircraft and a handful of Russian air craft. But now it's DCS, and we have the Spits, Mustangs 109's and 190's. There's the Combined Arms module, which allows players to access the ground units. Normandy. We also have trainer versions of the Mustang and the C101. And also not to mention, The Mi-8MTV2, which even has Cargo carry abilities. The Huey, which isn't really an attack Heli. More an armored weaponized transport Heli. DCS doesn't come across as the same modern only combat flight simulator that it used to be. To me at least. DCS is now getting into that realm of a full blown combat simulator. The DCS devs don't have to make these modules. A 3rd party group could do it. Also again, not just the Tigermoth. There are other planes which have a legendary status. Having flown the Spit and got used to it, I really enjoy flying the old planes. And it's a totally different style of flying. So yes, I would like to see some real old gen planes and ground / naval units, as well as more mid era stuff. I didn't know about that, thanks for the info. I haven't played rise of flight before, does it compare to DCS? The mission planner, the different Terrains. GFX, choices of units to fly against? Is it a sim or arcade game?

I'm not sure, I'll check this tonight. But from memory, they seemed to drop to the left or right of the target from my perspective. Does the wind speed effect laser guided bombs? I've been setting the altitude indicator to radar, not Baro, will that effect the bombs? I've been using Auto release for the bombs. Does the Auto mode compensate for my altitude?
-
Hi, I wish the Tiger Moth and other planes and maybe some suitable ground vehicles from that area could be added to DCS. Thx
-
Hi, I'm suddenly finding the GBU-12 laser guided bombs are missing their targets. As far as I can tell I'm doing things how I've done them before. But the bombs are missing. By about a tanks length away from the target. So if I'm aiming right on top of a tank. The bomb will hit right next to it, but not on it. Any got any advice?

Help. Keyboard binding for NWS switch, not trigger?

Joy, thanks for the info dude. Shame they haven't added this option to the list yet. -
Help. Keyboard binding for NWS switch, not trigger?
Kaned Dragon replied to Kaned Dragon's topic in AV-8B N/A
No dudes :) I meant that anti skid switch. I'm trying to find the key bind option for it. So instead of manually flipping it between NWS / On / Test. I can just assign the toggle to either a keyboard bind or bind it to a button on my Hotas. I can't locate the option in the keyboard bind screen. -
Hi, I'm trying to find the keyboard binding option for the switch which toggles between. CAST/NWS and NWS/HI-NWS. I see the option for the trigger, that switches between HI-NWS and NWS. Or CAST and NWS. But that little switch. Which toggle between the different modes. I can't find the keyboard bind option for that little switch. Any ideas? Has that option been implemented into or onto the binding options? Thx
-
I was wandering that same idea. I added a trigger zone, but i couldn't see or find anything that looked like it could do that. Not sure if it could be done with a script. Thanks Silver I was guessing that might be the only option at present. I'm hoping those Grass airfields in the static object get implemented at some point. Seems like something the Harrier could do.
-
Hi, I'm trying to create a landing area on a road for the AV8B. But the cars on the road are hitting the Harrier before I get in line. Is there any way of create a zone which stops the civilian traffic. Anyone got any tips for creating road runways? Thx

phantomknight321, drPhibes I read it on Wiki so might not be an accurate statement. Also it could be me not considering the different versions of the AV8B. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonnell_Douglas_AV-8B_Harrier_II Armament Guns: 1× General Dynamics GAU-12 Equalizer 25 mm (0.984 in) 5-barreled Rotary cannon mounted under-fuselage in the left pod, with 300 rounds of ammunition in the right pod Hardpoints: 6× under-wing pylon stations holding up to 9,200 lb (4,200 kg) of payload: Rockets: ** 4× LAU-5003 rocket pods (each with 19× CRV7 or APKWS[63] 70 mm rockets) Missiles: ** Air-to-air missiles: 4× AIM-9 Sidewinder or similar-sized infrared-guided missiles 6× AIM-120 AMRAAM (on radar equipped AV-8B Plus variants) didn't notice this till now, woops  . Shame there isn't an external radar pod for such things. Air-to-surface missiles: 6× AGM-65 Maverick; or 2× AGM-84 Harpoon; or 2× AGM-88 HARM (which is not a credible source without proper citation) very true. I'm being silly and assuming. I'm thinking of the USA large Carrier's that can carry different aircraft. Then there's the Hornet. Seems like a good idea to have a naval carrier ship that carry's naval planes that have the gear to take out enemy ships, just in case your ship runs out of anti ship missiles or if it's out of range. Redundancies and all that. Doesn't the SU33 carry those big missiles for such situations. Kh-31, AKh-41. If the Tarawa was getting hunted, or was hunting a destroyer or something. How would it go about it? Does the Tarawa have the gear for long distance anti ships attacks. Or would the Harriers give it a try? I'm just having a look at the Tarawa on Wiki. Not sure if I can trust it now :book: I'm definitely getting confused with the different roles a fighter and an attack aircraft perform. Thanks for the Video opps! That's the sort of result I've been hoping for. It could be how I'm using them. I prefer CCIP drops with them. I hardly ever use the automatic drop style. So I'll give that a try :)

Cool, at least it sounds like yes there are things that aren't yet implemented, but might get implemented in the future. At least it's not a definite no. And I guess instead of a powerful radar in the nose, it's got all that cool FLIR night time tech. Hence why maybe the version we got can't use them 120. Although it does seem silly having a multi role attack fighter that can take off from a carrier, but doesn't use those Harpoons. So far I've only been able to take out ships like the Molniya or Grisha. I tried taking on the Yantie. AGM-65G don't really cut it. But I think that is me not using the right tool for the job. Or just not know what I'm doing. Right now my biggest gripe with the AV-8B isn't the plane. It's those rockeye cluster bombs. They just don't seem to do much damage. From what I've read that is more a DCS problem. So yeah early access, but at least we have the TPOD working, so we can do laser bombs and what not. Enough to tide us over at least :) And the night time flying is awesome with the FLIR on the HUD. I'm no longer scared of the night hehe. Thanks for the responses

Anyway to use 2 keyboards?
Kaned Dragon replied to Kaned Dragon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the suggestions David and Rico. I've tried setting up some of the key buttons on the keyboard, will see if I can find a space on the HOTAS. I haven't thought about trying to create commands with a press and hold option. I'm using a Saitek X52 Pro, and I'm using the software that comes from Saitek, so will need to look into that. Button for activating the laser, or swapping between Narrow and wide view. Those sort of command. The more I fly the AV8B the more I'm thinking of just getting those Thrustmaster Cougar MFD's. There's just so many combinations. 20+ buttons for each monitor, and some do more than one command. Was hoping there was a way of setting up another keyboard just for extra key bindings. Again cheers for the help. -
Hi, basically I'm running out of buttons, is there any way to set up another keyboard and use that for extra keyboard bindings?
-
Hi, I'm thinking of getting the Thrustmaster Replica U.S Air Force MFD Cougar Flight Panel Duo Pack. I've started flying the Harrier, soon we'll have the Hornet. Of course there's the A-10. I'm really running out of button, so I've been thinking of getting them, as using those MFD with the mouse is a bit too awkward. My only gripe with the Cougar MFD's is that, they look like they are the size of the real life unit's and they might take up too much space. And it looks like they don't have real screens, only print out's. So having them that big isn't really necessary. Would you recommend them? Do they make a different when flying? Are there any alternatives? I did look into making an external controller using this tutorial http://www.instructables.com/id/Lets-make-a-game-controller/, but, I'd need more button. Anyone got any advice? Thanks

I've been seeing my wing man slowly drift into the sea when landing on the carrier. They come in for landing slow to a halt off to the side of the carrier, and then slowly drift down. I've also been having wing men sit on runways instead of taking off. Their thruster's are pointed down at 90 degrees like there do a vertical takeoff. Even though it's a runway. Are these an early stage bugs?
-
Hi I have a question regarding the Harrier and thought this might be the best place to ask. Is it likely we'll see some more ordinance for the Harrier. I read it can use Harm missile and AIM-120? But can't see in the weapon load out screen.
-
Hi, I noticed there is a grass airfield option in the static objects. I tried using it but aircraft don't actually take off from it and they wont land. I can't even see it on the land. I assumed it would be like FARP landing areas. Are these not implemented or do they serve a different purpose.
