  1. Not sure if I'm supposed to post this in campaign section or if that's reserved for custom campaigns. Having problem with the 4th mission where I and 3 of my wingmen have to intercept 4 Su27's and 4 Tu's. I did complete it after 3 tries but had to sacrifice all of my wingmen and was wondering if there's a better way to approach it. Basically, Su27's close in with their ECM on. I know their distance from AWACS so I launch a 120 on HOJ. They launch on me. I turn my ECM on and break while I order my wingmen to engage bandits. I turn back after I evade the missiles and two of my wingmen are already on fire and 2 Su27's trying to finish off the 3rd. As I launch the 120C's on the remaining Su27's last wingman gets splashed. I got the mission completed but is not a satisfying feeling having sacrificed all 3 of my wing. I watched the track later and sure enough, all of my wingmen engaged the same target and then they went for the bombers even though 2 Su27's were alive. As with A10 campaign, wing management seems to be the biggest challenge in these missions. Any tricks or suggestions?
  2. Check the tutorial section and download the appropriate video tutorials. These were made by Ironhand with FC 1.12 but principal tactic still applies. I'd advise watching all of his tutorials. http://flankertraining.com/ironhand/news.html
  3. Another nice AAR. I hope someone does F15 campaign AAR as I'm having some trouble with it.
  4. I don't have to say it really... you're displaying it plenty here. Does FC 2.0 calculate every equipment? Does the laser rangefinder's heat build up actually calculating output of the laser? No. Does it have to calculate every aspect of every equipment and weaponry? Or better question would be... is there a consumer grade computer that can handle all that calculation? Perhaps... in about one frame per 30 minutes. Professional simulators do not have to calculate in real time with pretty graphics. I do know their existence and I also know that there is none that calculates in real time with a graphic engine. Not knowing this seems to be your problem.
  5. Can you show some screenshot from that simulator? How much is it and where can I buy it? Can you not distinguish between consumer product and professional application? In consumer product, they have to make sure it runs on low end systems that are out there. Not to mention implement graphics, inputs, etc. Can you name any other flight simulator that you can simply enter values and perform as in real life? You are making some stupid arguments here.
  6. Calm down. None of us know how the game physics work since none of us have access to the source code. But we know that it's not real life. Things like drag and aero may be factored into the physics but I can tell you for sure... it ain't real life physics but a "simplified" and "simulated" physics. And as stated by many here, actual performance may vary depending on conditions so what the developer rely on is the actual performance data in combat situation rather than manufacturer data sheet. For example... I'm not a dev so I'm just making up an example but if a missile performance in the game is not matching that of real world counterpart because some of the physics are not calculated, they may tweak such values as weight and diameter to "simulate" the real world performance. We have no way of knowing the reasoning behind all the decisions made. In short, the game physics engine is not a real world physics and simply punching in the data doesn't make them perform the way the real ones do.
  7. Performance is something datasheet can't prove. Many sports cars would give you 0 to 60 performance but doesn't state all the variables. Condition of the track, air temperature, track temperature, type and brand of the tire... all of which are important information which cannot be identical between manufacturers who measured them at different conditions. You just can't say that the Porche is faster than Ferrari just because 0-60 says so. That's why a lot of the side by side comparison results by publishers sometimes come out to be different. But I do agree that facts such as the weight should be looked at.
  8. ED really needs to separate FC 1.1 and 2.0 section as 1.1 questions are still coming up occasionally and is confusing. I assume this is 2.0 question. 1. Never tried jumping so couldn't say but should try it. May be a good way to deal with stupid wingmen. Just fly it myself. Assuming that this works that is... Make sure jumping is enabled in the options. 2. Instead of just confirming the key assignment in the options, try re-assigning it even though correct key is already assigned. I'm not sure what the cause is but some of the keys on my keyboard are recognized differently in FC2.0. Next waypoint for example, even though it's ` key on my keyboard, the game recognizes it as something called "kanji". And \ key on my keyboard is actually recognized as ] key. And / key is recognized as "prev" Not really sure why this is... perhaps its because I have multiple language keyboard installed? But some of the keys, I had to remap them and works fine now. 3. Can't answer them all but I couldn't get auto following to work. I know A works for heading hold and use H a lot for altitude hold while scanning. But haven't used any other autopilot commands.
  9. Well... what can I say. It still works especially since the AI's don't spam like humans do online and 15s is more than sufficient to break locks, restart, and repeat. Certainly better than keeping it on. Now whether it was an exploit in 1.12 or not... well... I believe there was enough debate.
  10. Surrounded by 4 or 6 jets, especially if they're Flankers, I believe your result is expected. In the Quick Flight, when Flankers start pouring in, my suggestion is to disengage, run away, and try to re-engage in BVR. Also try flashing the ECM instead of just leaving it on.
  11. Well this is not Street Fighter. There's no "balancing" of each character. As mentioned by jessi, if you believe there's performance issue between aircrafts, you should provide the facts and I'm sure ED will take a serious look. Without it, it's just your opinions and speculations. You can't fly over "unprotected" area? No, it's not "real" but it's "realism". There's obvious difference.
  12. Nice vid. On the first one, why is the roar sound occur after what seemed like the strike? Is that due to sound delay? Graphic effects are just eye candy and I can live with or without. But what I would like really like is some realistic AI behavior. If an A10 is closing in, wouldn't the tank at least try to maneuver, cover behind a building or trees, or at least get out and run for their lives?
  13. I was quite disappointed in many aspects too. Especially with the price increase. But then again... this is pretty much the only flight sim on the market. Can't complain too much. Regarding the campaign, I'm sure the community will come up with them soon enough.
  14. Try remapping the keys in the options. For whatever reason, some of the keys on my keyboard are identified differently in game. For example \ key on my keyboard is recognized as ] key and ` key is recognized as something called kanji within FC2.0.
  15. Your answers are in this thread. The training page is empty because those are included in the boxed version and not in download version. You can download the video files separately if you go to the download section here. http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?scr=products&end_pos=135 But these are not much better quality than the Youtube and you certainly cannot fly them since they're not tracks but videos. And ED stated that there're no plans to release any other training materials. For what it's worth, these trainings are not much different than the FC 1.1 training tracks. So if you already went through those, there's really no need to watch these.
  16. Even with rotary and tweaked curve, you constantly have to trim it for hands off flight. Just use H key.
  17. Seems like it's assigned there? Or are you saying it's not working as cockpit zoom? If that's the case, you have to assign the slider to zoom for each aircraft. Not in Free Camera.
  18. In the A-10 campaign, engage air defenses command makes him go for the SA-11 every single time. Wish there's command to tell him to go after closest air defense target.
  19. I just tried... he doesn't respond at all. And then told him to complete mission and rejoin. He said roger and went suicidal again. And how do you lock up with diamond? I know the next waypoint key cycles through all the targets which is waste of time. Is there another way to lock up specific target with the diamond?
  20. A10 campaign, I clear an area of AAA and SAM with my mavericks. I put my nose onto some T80's and tell my wingman to engage ground targets. He ignores the easy targets, goes deeper, gets shot by IR SAM's ZSU-23's and what not. Of the 7 missions I've flown, I brought him back alive only once. And that's when I told him to do nothing. Any secrets on controlling your wingman?
  21. Congrats on getting those SA-11! The diamond I believe is your current target. You can switch them using the switch waypoint key but haven't really found a use for it myself either. Because from what I can tell, you can only cycle through them instead of designating specific target. And don't usually have time to cycle through 30 some targets.
  22. Downloading... And louder flaps and brake sounds are nice but I'd really like to hear bullets hitting the hulls.

    FPS Tweaks/MODs

Put it on whatever you chose in the options. Or you can find out what your choice in the graphic.cfg. If you chose Medium in the options, it should say: Camera { current = "Medium"; So make the change to Medium.
  25. Yea, I did just manage to kill one too but took about 300 rounds.
