Stand up and be counted all ye Mi-8 operators
Harrysound replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I might buy this tomorrow. It's getting late and i'm stuck in Cubase with a new song but I just wanted to know , does this have any kinda winch or sling or something to pick stuff up with? I know the huey is meant to have something like that and it's not in yet, i'm guess this ships without it? -
I would say your pointing toward some high level shader file that perhaps would create the puddles seen on the sea at very low levels while it's raining.

Not sure what this means going forward but I feel (may not be the case) that DCS is really starting to take off (excuse the pun)

Changing settings while in game (especially controls)
Harrysound replied to schkorpio's topic in DCS Wishlist
This feature alone has to be one of the most important additions to DCS World if it were to ever become true. I'm sure a lot of people understand the amount of time it takes to set up a controller map. The amount of times you've left a training mission to reconfigure your keys to further the tutorial. This , I know, is one of the major major problems new people have when coming into dcs World. I vote this should be of the highest importance. -
I've gone from 1920x1280 with an i7 2.6ghz, 12 gig triple channel ram and a 7850 2 gig OC to 2560x1440 on an iMac with i7 3.4ghz 16 gig ram and a Geforce 680mx 2gig. My frame rates are very good now, going from around 30 to around 40-60fps on very high details. I would just say that the biggest frame rate leap was when I stopped using Freetrack and started using Track ir. My FPS probably doubled right there. I get serious FPS chug when dropping bombs or rockets though. It's almost like the game engine can't handle the particle effects of the explosion. Like the pixel fill rate dive bombs.

Dev field trip to record Mi-8MTV2 audio for DCS!
Harrysound replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I'm a bit of a sound freak and make my own music n stuff so this sounds pretty cool and rather fun. -
Is there ANY idea of when 1.2.6 with the eventual Beta of this will drop? I mean are we talking a week or two, a few weeks or a few months or just 'this year'

Fishbreath's avionics cheat sheet
Harrysound replied to Fishbreath's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thanks for this, it's about time i learnt the ABRIS commands rather than just using it as a map -
I'm a noobie but I changed the ripple rate in the su25t but whatever I set it to I end up going from all ammo straight to no ammo in the space of 3 seconds.
-
You know I might just take a punt on is too as I enjoy the su25t a lot these days. Just worried that their so similar.

DCS Combined Arms Concept- IPad & Android Capability
Harrysound replied to Michaelc136's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
Great idea but man that would be alot of work. Personally I would just love it if they put the mission editor on ipad. .....mmmm might try it with splashtop -
To be honest I would be happy if they just put a coloured background with medium opacity behind the ATC and radio comms TXT

No need to apologise. I've been online since 1997 and i've become accustomed to other peoples overwhelming urge to correct and put people in their place ;)

I have a 27" 2012 top spec iMac with 3.4/3.9ghz i7 and a Geforce 680MX running at 2560x1440. I bought Track Ir 5 a couple of day ago, previously for the last year (and on my old windows machine i7 2.8ghz/ATI 7850 2gig) had been using Freetrack. The switch alone to Track ir made my FPS go through the roof (60+) I generally roll on the high preset then turn down Scenes to medium and shadows to medium. NO AA, no MSAA or AA on reflections. No mirrors, No tree shadows and make sure the cockpit displays are set to 256 (cockpit displays I think take the most out of performance for me) Useless information for all of you i'm sure but it's a bit of a revilation, now my game finally looks like the promotional training videos on Youtube :) Smoooooth

I have this problem where when I create triggers the disappear after clicking away from the trigger pane. It's a strange issue. They just go. I was trying to do, once, time more 30,radio transmission I got the .Wav working once out of a bunch of times of trying but even after that when I went back to the editor the triggers had disappeared.

I know it's not that easy Mr patronising. I was just saying the mechanics of it didn't have to be too polished. Not like dirt or Colin mcrae, but just something to add a little atmosphere.
-
I don't know why they just didn't call it something else, like Whaling Banshee or dcs speed tree. Otherwise I would like to buy it but I use a 2012 imac to play and have no disk drive or desire to buy one.

I haven't seen if anyone else has suggested this because I'm on my phone in a very long queue at the barber shop, but I'd love to see rain have an effect on glass. It would just be a simple shader or even texture layer, perhaps with animated opacity that would steam up or show droplets, forcing you to turn on your wipers.

steam and ED DCS World reg key's
Harrysound replied to 71st_Mastiff's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I've used Steam for years, it's a great service and a handy chat application for your buddies along with the mobile app. I've been using DCS world through steam for the last year. It is possible and quite easy to get the overlay working and all the other good stuff like voice chat or messaging. Also you have access to a web browser in the steam overlay for quickly looking something up. I activated my A10c today on steam and started downloading DCS World but I don't think i'll switch to the Steam version until everything is set up. I unfortunately bought the upgrade version of BS2 so would have to pay again just to use it through steam. Once I have got everything activated on steam it'll make life alot easier in the future. -
Well blow me thats the second thing i've learnt on this forum in 24 hours that is of extreme importance to me. That and the LALT ' for selecting weapons in multiplayer. Thanks!
-
Hi guys. Simple question time.... Is it possible to record tracks while playing multiplayer? So seriously funny stuff has happened on-line and i'd love to have the track to watch back at times.

Thanks for the heads up, i've downloaded it and installed it. Should help with fraps at least. I have a 7850 :)
