  1. I have been setting up a dedicated system for flight sim games. Part of the setup is a second touchscreen monitor. I have Falcon BMS and Helios working well with the setup and was wondering what is the best choices to use with FC2 to get maximum functionality. I have done some searching but have not seen a clear choice (Helios, LEAVU and LOVP) Does anyone have a setup they use with FC2 using a separate monitor for gauges and maybe button input? Thanks for any help
  2. Well one thing I want to do is to play around getting a 15" Touchscreen monitor I have sitting here going as a second monitor. For one it is a fun project but also for me I think it would help me to learn to fly by having the most used things in front on me in easy reach. Really looking at Falcon BMS right now as it runs well on my system and the updates look pretty nice. It has its own extractor but if I want more I will have to look at Helios or MDF Extractor. Still reading a bunch of forums to see what would the best way to proceed.
  3. Okay I have TrackIR 5 on order. Does anyone here have the Cougar MFD's? Also is there any must have mods for FC2 that I should look into? I also have the X52 PRO setup. Is there any good profiles for it for LOFLC2? I just want to have a nice setup before I spend time learning the game. Thanks
  4. Hey guys... I recently retired and I am trying to setup a dedicated rig for flight sims. I own Lock On Platinum and came across some discussion for LEAVU. I purchased Cougar MFD's and have an old 15" touchscreen around the house and would like to extract the MFD's for FC2. Is LEAVU still usable or did Gear replace it or some other way? What is the best approach to extract MFD's from FC2? I tried the links posted in the threads but they don't appear to be working any more. I have been playing around with Falcon BMS and have to admit the built in extractor is nice. My system is a little dated so that is why I want to stay with Falcon BMS, Lock On FC2, and IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 for the time being. If I get more proficient then I will look at upgrading my system for the newer generations of flight sims. I am also looking at setting up Freetrack to use. Is that application still viable or should I just spend the money on TrackIR? My system: Intel E6750 OC to 3.2GHZ EVGA 560ti 2GB 3GB RAM X52PRO Cougar MFD WinXP Pro Thanks OverDhill
  5. I have installed DCS_World_release_en_1.2.2.7122_19.exe for the first time and I can get the launcher to work, change my options and such but if I choose Multiplayer it says it is loading the graphics and such but when it is done I get a screen that looks clipped. I think it is some sort of map screen. The icons along the top do not do anything and there is a partial sky rectangle in shape in the left middle of the screen. It then drops to a smaller window where it goes black and locks up. I can barely manage to get back to the desktop to kill the process. Any ideas? I do not have any other DCS games installed and was just going to try the place included. I also uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and it acted the same way. I have WinXP, 8800GT, 2GB of RAM and X52 PRO setup. Lock On runs fine as well as Falcon AF. OverDhill
  6. Thanks for the information. I now have my X52 PRO Stick and Throttle. Is there any particular Combat Flight Simulator that I should start with? I was thinking of Lock On Flaming Cliffs 2. Would that be a good choice?
  7. I have a copy of Lock On Platinum and would like to know if the Lock On FC2 in that package can be integrated into DCS World? OverDhill
  8. Hi everyone I hope I am posting in the correct forum. I am recently retired and have the time to devote to playing around. I used to do some flight simulation several years ago but never had the time to get into it. I want to build up a simulation setup. I have the X52 PRO, Cobra MFD on order as well as Lock On Platinum to start with. I own Falcon AF also and just today downloaded DSC World. I also have been reading about MFD Extractor and Helios. Seems that the SC Simulations site is down so finding out a lot of info on Helios is difficult. I have watched some Youtube videos and it looks interesting. I have a couple of extra monitors around (two of which are 15" ELO Touchsreens) and would like to try getting the MFD onto a second monitor which is hooked up via USB. A few questions to start 1) What is the difference between MFDE and Helios? 2) What flight simulators are supported by each application? 3) Is there any other applications I should be looking at to do this? 4) Which app uses less CPU power to avoid as much loss in FPS? 5) Which is faster (less CPU and higher FPS) a USB monitor or the second port on a graphics card (like the 8800GT) and which way is recommended? Thanks for any help to get an older guy started. OverDhill
