Well it looks like this did not go anywhere.

After my 24" touchscreen monitor used for Helios bit the dust I decided to upgrade my pit using real push buttons and second 19" monitor. I also devised a button template system so I can quickly change all the labels for any particular sim I want to play. I trimmed down my Helios profile for FC3 to display just the gauges. I am now in the process of turning my attention on making up the button templates and HOTAS configuration for FC3. I figured I would focus on the F-15 right now. Being new to DCS FC3 if anyone has any suggestions for which key binds are the most important and a HOTAS layout for the Warthog I would appreciate hearing what you have to say (I really do like to get other peoples ideas while making my decisions). Here is the pit running DCS FC3 F15 while using Helios to extract a number of gauges to a second monitor.

From what I have seen hattrick uses it for button and switches only (keyboard commands). I have not seen where he extracts gauges and displays them in Helios.
-
Well the P-51 went on sale so I got it. Hoping to see Helios working for it down the road.
-
Too bad they did not have modules for some of the other DCS sims as well as IL-2 1946 and Cliffs of Dover. Most of all it is too bad Helios source was not released so the use community could have updated it.

Does the P-51D have the ability to extract gauges with Helios? Anyone have an example to share? Also looking to get the Dora soon
-
Ok that makes sense...

Dumb question but what is Bronze Backer credit in manuals? OverDhill

I am very familiar with Helios but had not seen any mention of the P-51 itself. I use Helios with DCS FC3 and it exports several gauges. I don't own P-51 yet but was just wondering if it had the same ability. Being a backer for the WW2 Kickstart project I will be able to get to pick two planes. So was wondering if there were the possibility of getting gauges exported. I am familiar with the links you posted but again no mention of the P-51 itself from what I could tell. Here is my FC3 skin that I submitted on Helios webpage.

I can't believe that anyone that anyone that pledged one dollar is going to complain that they are only getting one plane. What is this world coming to. I guess those that do complain are going to try and fly it with their keyboards because a good HOTAS costs $$$$$.
-
Well I for one will be happy to get 2 planes and a map for $40. Stuff happens in this business and the alternative is that we could have gotten nothing. I highly doubt ED is going to get rich off this so I highly doubt there was any misleading intentions from the beginning. This is a very small and specialized market. I can't believe the things I have read coming from people who obviously have spent a great deal on hardware and software if they are at all serious with flight sims. Heck $40 will not get you anything in Waur Thunker..hahahaha I applaud the comprise to be able to select two planes. Thanks ED

For me if I used the Desktop DCS World icon it tried to update and would corrupt the install. However I used the Update DCS World Icon from the Start menu and that worked. I had to do a complete hard drive image restore and low and behold it did the same thing again. This is on a Windows 7 x64
-
Well for me it got corrupted when it tried to update by running DCS itself. I restored the files from my own backup then ran the "Update DSC World" in the icon folder and it updated fine. A few days later I had to do a complete hard drive restore (unrelated) and since the DCS update was not in that image I had to update it again. Once again running DCS itself tried to update and corrupted the attempt. Again restoring the files and using the "Update DSC World" worked. Just my experience.

Second Monitor for touchscreen?

Thanks -
With the lack of ability to extract items to a networked PC I am looking at hooking up my 24" touchscreen to my main PC. As I see it I can do this two different ways. First is to use my existing video card for a dual monitor setup (I have a EVA GTX660 Superclocked). The second is using a USB to DVI external video card. The question I have is anyone using a USB adapter with success? If so what model? Would the USB monitor being used for Helios and extracted MFD's be less of a FPS hog then just using the GTX660 SC alone to drive two monitors?

This video helped a lot

FC3 export radar and MFCD to networked pc?
OverDhill replied to OverDhill's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have played around with my Helios FC3 skin and rethinking about what can easily seen on the instrument panel with TrackIR. Actually looking directly forward I can see the Vertical Situation Display (VSD) and TEWS Display Unit perfectly without even glancing down. On my 24" touchscreen I can see the following gauges updated in real-time in Helios: Mach Meter Attitude Director Indicator (ADI) Altimeter Horizontal Situation Indicator (not sure it is fully functional) Engine Tachometers (right and left) Fan Turbine Inlet Temps FTIT (right and left) Angle Of Attack (it was off by +12 degrees but fixed the Export script file) Vertical Velocity Indicator Here is what I have so far. I am not really going to miss the VSD and TEWS as they are both clearly visible -

If you like your stick then just get a used X52 Pro throttle off Ebay. That throttle is stand alone and works very well. I hated the stick but the 3 weeks I had it the throttle was great. I have seen some sold separately on Ebay in the past.

Hotas - Between X52pro and Warthog - Suggestions?
OverDhill replied to fiveohmike's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I had the X52 Pro for 3 weeks.... in that time it had a terrible dead zone issue (widely known problem with the HAL effects and magnet distance). There is a fix for it but it voids the warranty and I am glad I didn't do it as the stick died altogether. I bought the Warthog and has to say the quality is 100% better. Yes it would be nice it you could adjust the stick tension but it has no dead zone issues at all. When I was flying with the X52 Pro I was like a drunk behind the wheel. Even my Evo was way better than the X52 Pro for precision maneuvers. -
Will these work for FC3? Will they work for online play? Sorry I am new to DCS
-
Thank you Loophole for your work. I have FC3 working with my FC2 skin. I went through and verified all the gauges and the only one that was off is the AoA. It is reading 12 degrees high all the time so I looked in the script and found SendData("16", string.format("%.2f", 12 + (aoa * 57.3)) ) So I changed that line by taking out the 12 + and now it is reading the same as the FC3 instrument panel. It is too bad that Helios doesn't support the CDU/CLP for FC3. I know the LoGetMCPState works as I tested it out in Touchbuddy and Snacko's updated Export file for TB he provided. Touchbuddy also renders the TEWS which is nice but it does not do all the gauges that Helios has. I also see the Touchbuddy provided the Weapons Payload Information (LoGetPayloadInfo). These were working in FC2 so I am not sure why Helios did not support them for FC2. It seems like the Caution Lights Panel (CDU) is down played as you can hardly see it even with TrackIR so I suppose its no big deal. I am just wondering what else can be exported from FC3 that is not currently being sent.
