Exactly! Logitech ditched G940 long time ago, and software companies now can easily blame "obsolete" firmware and software. It's easier (cheaper) for them than fixing the code :)
-
Yep, we are entering blame game ... It's shame, really - G940 could have been the best HOTAS ever, but Logitech ruined it with poor software and horrible support. G940, being abandoned by its maker is perfect scapegoat! ;)

Hey Tek, I'm on your side!!  P.S. Even if it is overmodeled, with proper tactics (trap) it's possible to defeat anything - look at RL examples ... ;) -

You're welcome, but I doubt that this tactics is still possible, because of the extensive remodeling of missile dynamics. -

Yeah ... Dodging AIM-120 was really easy back then - put it on 3/9 then head on, diving at 20-30 degrees with full AB, pull max G in the vertical when you see AMRAAM trail in front of you ... worked in 99% of cases ... However, I'm looking forward to more realistic modeling. BVR tactics on squad level will be much more important, because single SU-27 now has a slim chance defeating F-15 starting in BVR. -

I clearly remember (Lockon) days when it was exactly the opposite - F15 guys crying and moaning all over the internet! :) Anyway, ED is listening to our moanings (whining works :)) and SU27 got updated (promised 6DOF, tamed down AIM120/R77) - enough for me to part with hard earned cash and jump on FC3 wagon! Got me license 15 minutes ago ... Now, where did I put my dusty Flanker BFM notes ... :pilotfly: -
They need to fix cookie issue on Chrome ...

Hmmmm ... and I've just decided not to get the FC3. Still not enough for an instant buy (really don't care for SFM anymore:music_whistling:), but now I'm thinking ...

Well, DCS is based on silly scenario as well then; how probable is NATO intervention in Georgia and region without major global consequences? Zero. :) The other scenario (Russia invades USA) is even less likely - USA & Russia are countries impossible to invade - only way to defeat them is to tore them apart from inside. That's the reason why we have proxy conflicts and wars ... -

Exactly the same situation preceding every major war fought against Russia, from Napoleon onward - Someone in the West jump on power trip and try to invade Russia - epilogue has been always the same :) -

 That would be perfect solution (and not too far from RL - Russians are historically known to fight major battles and win with overwhelming numbers and inferior technology) -

I'm closely following the discussion and I do believe that weapon systems should be modeled as close to RL as possible. Yes, AMRAAM is superior missile at the moment! However ... In RL (war), F-15 (or any other platform capable of firing AMRAAMs) would never get a chance to penetrate deep enough to fire at russian SU-27, or whatever - you have PVO (air defense) for taking care of that like S300/400 and such. We are looking at nuclear retaliation if F-15s manage to get through air defences (very unlikely). Model that aspect of RL, and we have balanced simulation :) So, reference to "game" has a point. ;) -
If we ever get B-2, TU-160 and such, and if the weapons carried by those beasts are modeled correctly, we would have nuclear holocaust in every online mission! Imagine your average online dude, flying B-2, plinking tanks with nukes .... :fear::megalol:

I think I'll pass on FC in this, third incarnation. I've been spoiled by KA-50 and A-10c. :P FC3 is just a tweaked FC2 (according to beta testers flight model is the same) and it is filling the time gap before we get fighters modeled to DCS standard. In the meantime, MiG21bis is the most promising add-on. :pilotfly: -

MiG 29 was part of NATO, Germany upgraded they MiGs to NATO standards (IFF, TACAN etc) ... So there is plenty of info about those outside Russia. And BTW, there are huge numbers of MiG29s in former Warsaw Pact members sympathetic to NATO and West in general - I don't think that these MiGs are clasified anymore ... If nobody went to prison over KA-50 in DCS, no one probably will for MiG 29 ;) :) -

Personaly I'd be in heavens if they release F16c/MiG29sm(t) package; second choice beeing Fa18c/su33. After that, they could upgrade F15c, SU25T and SU27. Everything should be simulated with AFM and fully clickable, of course (with hefty manuals :P) Package is the keyword. If the price for these (hypothetical) packages is two-three years wait period per package - so be it! Enough time to develop Combined Arms into something special (simulation of integrated air defense system and implemetation of GCI would complete the picture ...). New theater of operation wouldn't hurt either. In the meantime, third party developers would keep us busy ... Dreams...dreams ... I know ... :D:joystick: -

Well we are probably looking at F15/16/18 variant for the next AFM clickable US fighter. Properly modeled MiG29/SU27 and adequate weapon systems will be more than a match in DCS world. They are not going to model First Rate air force any time soon (no raptors, pak-fa, stealth and such ...) ;) -

If ED implement proper GCI in DCS, even such an old technology would not be huge disadvantage - There is a huge difference in doctrines regarding Russian and US planes. Look at the MiG21bis ... still usable with a GCI -

Well, for example MiG 29 (in many variants) has been analysed and scientifically dissected to death and has been flown by many Air Forces around the globe. We don't need cutting edge 25th generation super mega top secret jet; give us a Plain Jane MiG 29 or/and SU 27 modeled to DCS perfection (clickable AFM - sorry, nothing less will do - after A10c and KA-50 FC3 feels like a toy :)) to balance out the anounced US jet. Simple as that. BTW, I'm convinced that ED is working toward Russian modern jet in some form or another. P.S. I enjoy flying US jets as well and will get US fighter as soon as it is available! -
