[DCS:W] More TACAN and ILS enabled airbases (release)
acino replied to Ebs's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
So I have added ILS and TACAN to all airports, including the model for DVOR at every airbase. I tried to find a real location on satellite images, but honestly, I suck at this. If I could not find one, I just placed at a reasonable spot near runway. Tested only couple of ILS/TACANS, so if you find something weird, let me know. Added ILS to Tbilisi-Soganlug as well. Any source on this? I sincerely doubt 2400 Mhz vs. 1600 Mhz will make any difference at all. In my opinion, you reach GPU/CPU bottleneck way faster than you would notice any difference in RAM.
-
That's mostly problem of fast missions, I would say. Normally (RL, campaign, multiplayer), you would have a CAP or escort flight there to protect you from the enemy fighters.
-
Might have been IR missile? There is no RWR warning for those.
-
For me, engines can be running (except for when repairing). The canopy must be open, though.
-
What did it feel like? Was it really immersive?
-
The certainly does not sound normal. Does the video image change abruptly or do you see it moving to a new location? Or do the units simply suddenly disappear?
-
The current "picture" in the MAV display disappears when you move the nose of your aircraft around (turning etc.). So there are two things that are good to do, engage autopilot while slewing the maverick cursor and/or TMS down short to ground stabilize the cursor on the present spot before performing any maneuvers/corrections. Also, make sure you set a SPI at your target so you can always return to it fast in case something screws up. Edit: Absolutely make sure you set SPI with your TGP at the target units, otherwise it's super difficult to slew your maverick cursor/sensor to them since it's pointing at your steerpoint by default.

LOL, sorry, It's a consequence of being in a lab for 12 hours for 3 consecutive days.
-
CBUs are insane. I love this fuzzy feeling inside when I drop one and destroy 10+ targets. :pilotfly:
-
GBU-31 is a JDAM, it's essentially GPS guided boomb, so not laser guided bomb. It's a fire and forget weapon. Edit: I suck, I didn't read your 2nd edit. :)
-
GBU-10 and GBU-12 are in principle the same, one is bigger than the other one, but the deployment is the same. In the profile in DSMS page, you just set AUTO LS to ON, that means the TGP will automatically start lasing (marking) the target after release of the bombs. Next, you also need to set LS TIME (on the same page) to 10-15 seconds, so the bomb has enough time to navigate to the target but at the same time, does not waste all its energy at the begining of the fall. Then it's just a normal CCRP release.

Do you guys plan to stream this or make a video out of it? I did not participate in your formation training and while I have considerable experience with DCS and BMS, I am quite new to multiplayer so I am not sure if I would be able to keep formation with you. Though, I would be interested to at least see the training.

The general consensus is it is the best HOTAS currently, especially for this sim.
-
I personally don't own TrackIR but I do plan on getting one soon. It is possible to control mouselook with hats on flight stick, it is even possible to map controlling mouse cursor on your HOTAS, but both of them are quite annoying. That's why I plan on getting one. :)

Thrustmaster Warthog Extension for cockpit
acino replied to huteng's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I support this, ebay would be a good idea. I would actually probably buy one. -
It is strange that the controller profiles section is a subsection to Bugs and Problems, it did not occur to me to look there. Thanks! :)

[iNTRODUCTION] This is my TM Warthog profile that further extends upon PhoenixBvo's profile. Several new features are introduced. Also, I do not own TIR or rudder pedals, and the profile was altered to reflect on this, albeit without imposing penalty on the primary function of the HOTAS. Some of the interesting features are switching between two sensitivity modes, mouse function on the throttle etc. [FEATURES] [] New features introduced in this release - Mastermode button in conjunction with pinky paddle switches between two sensitivity (for both the stick and throttle) modes - normal and A-A refuel, as indicated by LED control (see below). - The trim hat is used for panning around the cockpit when used with the stick's pinky paddle. - The ministick used for cursor slewing can now be used as a mouse cursor when used together with the stick's pinky paddle. At the same time, 1st stage gun trigger is used as a left mouse button when used with the pinky paddle. Originally, pressing the ministick was used for this purpose, but due to the minor movements causing trouble while pressing it, this has been abandoned. - The slider on the base of the throttle acts as a rudder when pressed with the stick's pinky paddle. - Speedbrake aft button _click_, when used with the pinky paddle, now opens the speedbrakes to ~40 % as recommended during the final approach. - The backlighting of the throttle base is now deactivated when both throttles are off. It activates upon placing at least one of the throttles into the IDLE position. - The five LED controls now designate the following: - LED1 - ON while A-A refuel mode is active - LED2 - ON when APU is in the START position - LED3 - ON when the flaps are NOT in the up position - LED4 - ON when speedbrakes are active - LED5 - ON when the external lights are not off [] Features adopted from the original profile - Weapon release button now acts as nightvision toggle when pressed with stick's pinky paddle. - The slider on throttle base acts as zoom/unzoom. - Horn silence button now acts as a gear toggle. - MIC switch acts as push-to-talk button for TeamSpeak. - Left throttle button acts as TrackIRPause and TrackIRReset, without and with stick's pinky paddle, respectively. - 15 degree twist of the stick's axes can be activated (see the script file) to reproduce the real-life configuration [iNSTALLATION] 1. Unpack the .zip file 2. Go to C:\Users\<User Name>\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Config\Input\A-10C\keyboard and replace the keyboard.lua with the file from this .zip file. 3. Go to C:\Users\<User Name>\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Config\Input\A-10C\joystick directory and replace the "Thrustmaster Combined {insert your controller ID here}.lua" with the file from this .zip file. Make sure you copy your controller ID into the new file's name!! 4. Place the .tmc and .ttm files anywhere, but in a same directory. 5. Open and run the .tmc file in the TARGET Script software prior to running DCS World. NOTE: The above directory paths are applicable in Windows 7/Vista. [ACKNOWLEDGMENT] PhoenixBvo is greatly acknowledged for providing his profile and kindly granting his permission to release this modified version to the public. P.S. I am not sure if this is the correct subforum, but I could not find one listing device profiles. Edit: Fixed a bug with IDLE Throttle, new version up. DCS-A10C_Acino_Profile.zip

Pre-flight and start-up communication with ground crew
acino replied to acino's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
So far, I am not considering any animation of the crew chief and stuff, mostly because I have zero knowledge on modelling, animation and/or how difficult it would be to implement a brand new animation (i.e. marshaling) into DCS. Perhaps someone has this knowledge and would be interested in executing this; perhaps we could found a team that would try to accomplish this mod. P.S. If anyone (coders, modellers, animators) would be intersted in cooperation, make sure you drop me a message! -
Pre-flight and start-up communication with ground crew
acino replied to acino's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thanks a lot! I just want to make sure I understand it correctly, when it says "Me: Partial (speedbrake is partially open)", does it mean you first tell him "partial" and he opens the speedbrake partially, or he first performs the action and you tell him what you see? -
Hey guys! I am contemplating creating a mod that will attempt to recreate the real start-up procedure including the communication and checks with the ground crew. (Something akin to this: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3519800/1) I have done some coding in my life, including some in LUA, but many many years ago, so I realize the begining will be quite rough. Though, it does not seem too complicated - just adding some options in radio communication and then just playing some sound files and running checks similar to those in training missions. But anyway, the problem right now is, I don't know what the launch of A-10Cs looks in real life. When and how the communication with the ground chief commences, what is checked and discussed, and how it ends (I hope you know what I mean). I wanted to ask if somebody had a document that describes this in detail, ideally including the exact phrases used (or if there is somebody who has done this in their life). Thanks in advance!

Where did you get screenshot of the EDGE Nevada map? I think it looks awesome, but I am not sure if it's real. :( EDIT: Nevermind, I found it: http://www.blackknightssquadron.com/?p=2359 ...so is this how the Nevada is going to look like or is it outdated?

Looking for a decent 24" Monitor
acino replied to Ratfink's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I suggest this: 27" 2560x1440 IPS LED for $380 http://www.ebay.com/itm/CROSSOVER-27Q-LED-High-Resolutio-n-2560x1440-QHD-DVI-D-Dual-S-IPS-27-Monitor-/110867210291?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item19d0336033 I bought it. Absolutely love it, zero dead/stuck pixels, very decent backlightning, very little bleeding.
