  1. I have a G2 and I use steam vr rather than openxr, but the only thing that ever caused shakiness for me was hitting the limit on my card’s VRAM. DCS devours VRAM! I had turn down one graphics setting at a time to find the sweet spot where the graphics were decent without the shaking. Lowering the Terrain Textures setting was where I found the best compromise. Hope that helps!
  2. When I see the frame rates others are getting with a 4090 it starts feeling awfully tempting! Then I remember what the scalpers are charging and it’s suddenly much less tempting. What settings are you using? And what frame rates are you getting? Are you flying VR? Your signature says you have an 850W psu. You could probably get by with that, but if you’re going to throw $2000+ at a 4090, you ought to also get a 1000W ATX 3.0 power supply. So, you’re easily looking at over $2,500 for this upgrade. Personally, I’d hold off. You already have a great system. If you need more frames per second, there’s probably some optimizations you can do to squeeze out a little more (possibly a lot more) performance.
  3. It’s been great reading all the input and suggestions from everyone! Lot of good information being shared! I’ve tried it several different ways and Whiskey11’s method seems to give the best results. As he said, it works pretty much every time.
  4. Where’s the fun in that?
  5. Appreciate the suggestions and great info! I’ll try this out! Higher speed, switch out JDAMs for -105s, and release at ~10nm instead of 6-7 like I had been.
  6. I’ve been practicing this for a few weeks and have had mixed results at best, so I’d love to hear how others would do it… Here’s the scenario- there’s an S-300 site protected by multiple SA-15. The target is the Flap Lid radar. You’ve got a single F-16. No wingmen or any other type of support. I realize that’s not realistic, I just want to see if it can be done consistently. What weapons and tactics would you use? I’ve tried low level approach and fire HARMs at about 6-7 miles in Pre-Briefed mode at a steerpoint that I put right on the Flap Lid. At best I get 50% success. Probably less TBH. Tried the same with JDAMs and I can take out the radar almost every time, but I have to get closer, which means the SA-15 usually takes me out before I escape. Also tried with JSOWs, which lets me stay barely outside of the SA-15’s range, but the JSOWs always get shot down. Anyone have better luck with the S-300/SA-15 combination?
  7. It’s a bug. It broke a few updates ago.
  8. Hahaha! Touché. I was actually referring to the M-163 Vulcan AAA and the Avro Vulcan, which admittedly has a very similar triangular shape to the Me-163 Komet - a plane that would have happily shot at British bombers. The irony! Lol
  9. What I’d really like to see is a Wags video with Spock sitting in an M-163 shooting at a formation of triangular shaped British bombers. “Who put those Vulcans there?”
  10. I believe the Hornet menu has “engage my target” and “engage my enemy” but neither of those commands works for anti-shipping targets unfortunately.
  11. Well that’s a problem, no doubt. But IMHO the flight lead should at least be able to command his wingmen to attack specific ships. It would be nice to have a radio command allowing the player to tell the AI wingmen “Attack my surface target” or “Attack surface target at 090 for 50.” Something like that.
  12. Thanks for the input. This works for this particular scenario, but my bigger question is whether it’s possible to have two wingman attack two different ships. I think the answer is probably no. I can do it through triggered actions but then I have to put the wingmen in different groups and they’re not really wingmen anymore.
  13. I think the reason it's not working for you is that when a group is deactivated it can't be reactivated AFAIK. I just tested this and as I suspected, I could get a group to activate with a trigger and deactivate with a different trigger, but then it would not activate a second time. I was using "Switched Condition" for the triggers. I'm certain there's a workaround for this, but I just haven't figured it out yet.
  14. I’ve been trying to figure this out for about a week and I’m stumped… I’m trying to make a single-player anti-shipping mission for the Hornet and I ran into the following problem… I have my radar in SEA mode and I see two surface contacts in front of my flight. I want Wingman 2 to launch his harpoons at one of the ships and I want Wingman 3 to launch at the other ship. But they both always end up launching at the same ship! Ok Mission Editor experts, help me out, how do you make the AI wingmen do what I want???
  15. Bravo MAXsenna! That’s a great feeling isn’t it! One thing that’s helped me came from a Grim Reapers video where Cap was giving refueling advice… The plane is going to oscillate back and forth. Don’t try to correct the oscillation. “Dampen” the oscillation. Focus on dampening the plane’s movements and you’ll have a smoother experience!
  16. I possibly found the problem, but for all I know, this might be correct behavior for the Harpoon… I tried getting a radar lock on a ship and then launching a Harpoon in BOL after manually entering the bearing to target. The bearing I entered was 023 dgrs, but I noticed the bearing it flew was 018 dgrs. So it was off by ~5dgrs. This was on the Caucasus map, where magnetic deviation is ~6 dgrs (I think). So, I input a true heading, but the missile flew a magnetic heading? Anyone else see the same behavior?
  17. Haven’t noticed that as one of the parameters you can change, but I’ve set SEEK to large and that seems to improve the chances of the missile finding the target. Is that what you’re referring to?
  18. Greetings all! Quick question about the Harpoon… when you have a moving ship locked on the radar and you launch a harpoon in R/BL mode, is the harpoon supposed to fly to an intercept point or does it head to the location where the ship was when it was launched? When I launch them at moving ships from 40+ miles, they often miss behind the ship.
  19. Pressing DMS Down for 0.5 seconds toggles the HMCS display on/off. Just do the same thing again and it will come back on.
  20. I have this problem too. I fly in VR and it used to be that if I needed to punch out, I just look down at the ejection handle and click it with the mouse and BOOM I’m out! Doesn’t work anymore. Oh well. The mission’s over anyway at that point.
  21. I just tested this and you’re right. If I have the GM radar locked on a point and then on the other MFD I put the TGP into a point track on a different point, the radar doesn’t automatically switch to the TGP’s target. If I SOI back over to the radar and TMS aft, THEN it snaps over to the TGP’s target. So that raises the question, why does the TGP look at a HAD target without that last step (TMS aft)? I suppose it could be a bug, but I think it might have to do with the fact that the HTS system is constantly refining its coordinates. If the TGP didn’t automatically follow it then you’d have to repeatedly SOI back to the TGP and TMS aft to see what’s there. As is, it lessens the workload on the pilot. I’m glad you brought this up. I learned something new!
  22. I would expect it’s like that IRL. Keep in mind, the sensors are trying to help you put a weapon on a target. When your HAD is SOI, the assumption is that you’re HAD target is the one you’re going to attack, so your TGP is going to look at it for you.
  23. This has been asked before and as far as I know the answer has been No, you can’t transfer those coordinates directly to a mark point. However, those coordinates are not exact anyway. You should use them to get close and then switch to the TGP to find the radar’s exact location. Then make a mark point from the TGP coordinates.
  24. It’s not the most intuitive procedure but you can still do it. A-G Master Mode > select CCRP > ICP button 7 (MARK) > Dobber switch right (SEQ button) four times (until HUD is selected on the DED) > DMS forward to make the HUD SOI > TMS forward long to make HMCS SOI > look at the target and TMS forward short to ground stabilize > use cursor to make minor adjustments as needed then TMS short again to set the mark point. If all you have left is the gun, you can still select whatever air-to-ground weapons you had at the start of the mission and the procedure will still work. There’s a minor bug in the system which is why you have to dobber right x 4 to cycle the sensors in the DED. Spudknocker posted a YouTube video on it.
  25. The HMCS actually does work for designating ground targets. Are you using it in VIS mode? If you tell us the procedure you’re using, maybe we can figure out where you’re getting hung up.
