+1 Tested this workaround yesterday and this morning. It hasn’t been 100% accurate but it’s a massive improvement. Thanks Jutter!

@alphagamer4 I feel your frustration my friend. But bailing on DCS over the replay misbehaving is like turning down a date with Margo Robbie because you didn’t like her accent in The Wolf of Wall Street. We’ve got to cut the devs a little slack. They’ve made a phenomenal sim!

Severe performance drop in MP after changing planes/slots
MTM replied to cfrag's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I get the performance drop in VR when switching from hornet to viper or vice versa. I’m using reverb G2. I have to exit the mission and then change to a different graphics preset, which clears the problem until I switch aircraft mid-mission again. -
I too have long been frustrated with the replay bugs and I hope ED can find a way to fix it without rebuilding the whole thing from scratch. One thing I've personally noticed with the replay inaccuracies is that (at least in my experience) player inputs during the replay are the main thing interfering with the accuracy of the replay. I've tested this many times and it seems pretty consistent. If I watch a track without touching the controls, changing the views, using time accelerate, etc. then the track usually plays perfectly. But that means I'm watching the whole video from inside the cockpit when I want to get an external view of the action. As soon as I go to an external view, the inaccuracies start building up. I don't have the first clue about programming, but could this be something that multicore support can fix? In other words, have the original player inputs processed on one CPU core while inputs during the replay are on a separate core so they're not competing with each other. Just some random thoughts from an enthusiastic amateur who loves DCS and hopes to see this fixed.

I’ve been following this topic and I have found that the solutions mentioned work great when playing on a 2D monitor, but they don’t work when I try them in VR (Reverb G2). In 2D, I can slew the MavF seeker no problem, but using the same procedure in VR, no force on earth can get it to slew. That’s been my experience at least. Has anyone else tested it in 2D vs VR? If it’s only happening to me then I’m sure I did something stupid that I haven’t figured out yet. Wouldn’t be the first time!

How do you clean up the tank fleet efficiently?
MTM replied to FrostLaufeyson's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
FrostLaufeyson, watch this video and practice finding targets in the TGP and then use the undesignate button to manually slew your Mavericks. If you learn to do it fast enough, you just might be able to fire four Mavs in one pass. It’s not easy! I usually only use the TGP on the first target and then I use the Mav seeker to lock up the rest. Even then, four in one pass is hard to do! That said, I’ve learned to love the GBU-12. Not as fast or efficient as the maverick, but if you learn to take your time, prioritize your targets, and take them out one at a time, it’s so much more satisfying! Good hunting! -
Have faith. All things in time.

I think ED (very wisely) throws out ideas to see what gets people talking and what doesn’t. Personally, I’d love to see a whole world map and if it ever becomes an option, I’ll be the first to buy it. But, if it doesn’t generate sufficient interest, they’ll apply their efforts toward the dynamic campaign, or VR improvements, or an F-4 Phantom, etc. They pay attention to what we show interest in. And for me, the interest is high. I’d love a whole world map!

Any chance we could get a these payload-dependent stats added to the load out screen? I think it would helpful (especially in my beloved Hornet) to know the effect of asymmetric payloads in terms of weight, balance, and drag. Would also be great to know the max range with a given payload and fuel quantity. I know the Hornet has the FPAS available once you’re in-mission, but it would be nice to have that info when creating missions. Thanks ED keep up the great work!

sirrah, I took your idea and added a bit to it. I create F10 radio items that display a message when they’re selected. Then that message is shown for 10-15 seconds and disappears. And then I added a trigger to reset the flag attached to the radio item so that the same radio item can be selected as many times as necessary. Without triggered kneeboard pages, this seems like the next best thing. Many thanks for the suggestion!
-
That sir is a huge help! I don’t know why that didn’t occur to me!
-
Forgive me if this has already been brought up or if there’s already a way to do it. If so, point me in the right direction. Would love to have the ability to set a trigger that will make certain kneeboard pages become available in the middle of a mission. When flying in VR, there’s no way write down things you might need to know later, like useful coordinates, frequencies, etc. It would definitely help to be able to at least trigger a kneeboard page that would have the info.

correct as-is Should the TGP be this difficult?
MTM replied to dporter22's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I have a related question and rather than start a separate topic, I think it ought to be part of this discussion… Part of what makes the TGP so difficult in the viper is the image quality is very poor. I’ve gotten good at slewing it around quickly to search wherever I want to search, but I can’t tell what I’m looking at. Adjusting brightness and contrast can help a little but in order to use it effectively you have to be very close to your target. Inside 10 miles in most cases. Is this how it is IRL?! How do real viper pilots ever find anything?! If it’s accurate to real life, then so be it. I’m just praying it’s an early access issue and later updates will give us the same TGP image quality as the Hornet. -
correct as-is Should the TGP be this difficult?
MTM replied to dporter22's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
dporter22, I'm learning the Viper right now too and yes the TGP functionality is a bit of a pain, but there's an easy way to search areas that aren't near steerpoints... When you bring up the TGP page on an MFD, go into Snowplow (SP) mode. Then TMS Up to go into Point Track or TMS Right to go into Area Track, whichever you want. Your SPI is now ground stabilized and directly in front of your aircraft AND SLEWABLE. Slew it straight up until the SPI box is visible in the HUD. Now you're good to go and you can scan/slew whatever you want! I also recommend downloading Chucks DCS F-16 Guide. It's VERY helpful! Good luck my friend! -
I’m just now learning the Viper, so my feeling about it might change, but it seems like the systems in the hornet are more intuitive and easier to use. The sensor integration on the Hornet is better. It’s easier to keep track of where you are, where the threats are, and where your targets are. With respect to maneuverability, the Viper has the advantage on speed and acceleration, but I’ve found when the Hornet is flown correctly it’s an absolute beast in a dogfight! In my limited experience with the Viper so far, the only advantage I give it is the 6 maverick loadout. Mav is my favorite A-G weapon and unfortunately the Hornet just comes up short on that point.

Thank you everyone for the advice. You guys convinced me to stay away from the X56! Virpil and VKB make some amazing looking products! Unfortunately, the cost is just too high. Had hoped to be upgrading but it looks like the last man standing is my tried and true X52 Pro. At least I won’t have to go through the cumbersome task of reprogramming buttons again. Thanks again fellas! MTM
-
Thanks for the info! I primarily fly in VR so I can't see the keyboard. Therefore, the buttons, hats, and switches I can get the better. Warthog looks like a solid option. X52 Pro is obviously another option at a lower price. X56 looks very promising. Virpil Mongoose throttle with Constellation stick looks looks amazing. At the moment, those are the four options I'm considering. Price is definitely a factor here if I don't want to sleep on the couch for the next month! Unfortunately prices look INSANE right now!!! To answer your question Dangerzone, a good balance between affordability and reliability would be nice. Definitely have to stay under $500. Ideally, under $300. That alone might force me back into another X52 Pro. MTM

After 8 years, my X-52 Pro sadly has flown its last sortie. A plastic piece inside the throttle broke and despite my best efforts, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be fixable. So now it’s HOTAS shopping time! What do you guys recommend? I loved my X-52 Pro and I haven’t ruled out getting another one but a reasonably affordable upgrade would be nice!

I FIGURED IT OUT!!! It was the Logitech software for my X52. When I press pickle it was only giving a short input instead of a continuous one. Remapped the pickle button and SUCCESS!!!

Thanks Total Khaos. Watched the video. Did the training mission. Watched a few other tutorial videos on Auto mode. I honestly can't figure out what's wrong. I even thought maybe I was somehow setting a waypoint as a target on accident... so I decided to go with it and bomb a waypoint. Still didn't work. It really seems like I'm doing exactly what everyone else is doing, but the bombs just won't drop. Those damn T-80s are laughing at me I know it!
-
Greetings! Like the topic says, I'm having problems with bombs in AUTO mode. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here, but after weeks of trying to figure it out, I'm stumped. I have never gotten a bomb to drop in AUTO mode. The weird thing is CCIP works perfectly. Always the same, whether I'm using laser guided bombs or dumb bombs. I'll set the mode to AUTO, select fuze options, manual release, enter laser code if it's an LGB, line up on target, hold pickle until counter says 0.... nothing. Switch to CCIP for another pass and bomb drops every time. Anyone got any ideas what I might be doing wrong???

Steam VR Hijacked My DCS - How do you go back to 2D???
MTM replied to MTM's topic in Virtual Reality
You guys are awesome! I installed the Updater Utility and it took some trial and error, but it worked. I'll try the alternate shortcut method too F4ttyRider. Thanks for the idea! -
Steam VR Hijacked My DCS - How do you go back to 2D???
MTM replied to MTM's topic in Virtual Reality
Much appreciated for oz555! -
My Reverb G2 showed up a few days ago and WOW! I'm in love with DCS in VR! But I need to be able to revert back to 2D when I'm using the Mission Editor or testing out various things. Every time I try to run DCS in 2D, Steam VR turns itself back on and I can't close it without also closing DCS. I'm sure it's a setting somewhere I'm not familiar with. How do you go back to 2D? Thanks!
