  1. Not sure if it has already been brought up (I imagine it has but I could not find it) but the Scorpion HMCS would be a huge upgrade for the A-10C community. I think it would also be cool to get some of the newer weapons and weapon build configs that are currently being used in the real world. Specifically DSU-33s on the MK-82s and GBU-38s, GBU-54, and AGM-65Ls.

  3. I've repurposed a TV we had for my new monitor a while back. Its a really cheap 1080p LCD but it looks good. The problem I have is that it cuts off the top and bottom of DCS when I set it to 1920x1080. It does not have the monitor setting on it like better TVs do. I've figured out how to go into my Nvidia card and manually adjust the display while on the desktop and that works great. I've played with the settings within DCS to try and get it to display properly in-game but to do so I have to drop the res to 1862X1048 and use a 16:10AR which make it look like crap and makes things like the HUD hard to read due to the lower res. If I run 1920X1080 either on 16:10 or 16:9 I loose the top and bottom of the screen once in the pit. I can see the top of the boxes when you start the mission for "FLY" and "Cancel" or whatever and the Radio title when you bring up the menus. So all I'll see is the F-commands but not "UHF" "AM" or "FM". Also when I do the MFCD snap views I cant see the top OSB buttons and only about half of the bottom OSBs. Would you guys have any idea how I can get it to still run with max res and fit it all into my screen? Thanks for the help!
  4. As a USAF Ammo troop I never seen them or heard about them in circulation. In Guam we had pretty much every Air to Ground munition in the entire inventory and we did not have them in stockpile. Same thing can be said about Nellis + the test munitions we had.
  5. From what I remember (IRL) skidding in turns (uncoordinated) is more pronounced at slower speeds. So if you're smashing around at 270IAS you may not notice the ball being out of line. However, if you are turning at 150IAS and put it into a turn the ball may slide a little further out. Having turns coordinated is also going to be more of an issue at these low speeds as getting it too far out can result in a spin.
  6. 1: L-Ctrl+P Lights on (HOTAS pinky switch aft) L Shift+P Lights off (HOTAS pinky switch center) 2: Yes you only have to turn 3 switches to get the radios up. The top (AM) turn the right mode selector dial to TR. The middle radio (UHF) turn the left dial to BOTH. The bottom radio (FM) turn the right dial to TR. At a minimum you have to have the batteries and inverter on to power up the radios. You'll also have to set the radios to the correct frequency if you are NOT using easy comms. If you are NOT using easy comms you'll need to make sure you are using the correct (AM,UHF,FM) radio to contact whomever you need to talk to. IE if you try contacting ATC on UHF you're going to have a bad time. Note that the radios are also kind of buggy with the current offering of DCS world and are supposed to be fixed in the next patch. 3: To get the EGI up you have to wait for your INS to fully align. This takes several miniuts after its powered up. Check the CDU page in your MFCDs. You will seesomething towards the bottom that says T= #.# #.# (# being numbers that change). What you are waiting for is T= 4.0 0.8 and INS NAV READY falshing at the top. From there you hit the OSB next to "NAV" on the right hand side of the CDU page on the MFCD (OSB 8 or 9 i think) you'll get an * next to NAV. Click EGI on the nav panel and then turn on the EAC and you should be good to go.
  7. In MP I've noticed the tires seem a bit fragile. Try lowering the nose slower while you still have some speed so your elevators are effective. I've noticed if you try and aero-brake the A-10 like a F-15 and you let the speed get to low you'll loose elevator control and the nose will slam down resulting in a blown nose gear tire. Good luck!
  8. Dont forget when in the IR modes to adjust the gain. It will help clean up the picture and make things easier to spot. Try scanning in a grid pattern so you don't go over the same area twice. Also it you feel you scanned too far rest the pod back to the SPI and start again. As others have stated distance and altitude are key! Try and set up a wide orbit (providing there are no threats you may fly into) into whatever station your pod is on to limit masking. Practice man! The more you find things the more you'll get the "eye" and it will get easier!
  9. I'm sure the G-10 weighs more than the G-31 but by how much I dont know. The fins on any 2,000lb class bomb are very heavy. I cant tell you off the top of my head how much a KMU (JDAM fin) weighs versus a MXU-651 (G-10 Fin) but they are not that far apart. The MAU-169 that goes on the front of the G-10 weighs up close to 100lbs though. FWIW I think the G-10 in game is modeled like it uses the BLU-109 warhead but it looks like a MK-84. If you used a BLU-109 it would require a "Hardback Assembly" which is basically a big chunk of metal that spans the suspension lugs and it also weighs a good bit (again I forget the weight). The G-31 in game is a (V)1 or MK-84 body and would not use the Hardback so there could be part of that weight diff. I dont think there should be 500lbs between the two of them though!

  11. Paul, I think what you listed in your OP is pretty much it. A few things of note though: I would not turn on the master arm and PAC. The PAC will add in the negative trim and you dont want that on take off. The pod would be fine to get turned on and get spun up (I do mine in the blocks before taxi) Leave the Mavs off until you get to the IP. I'd also set up your weapons and countermeasures profiles and any other systems you may desire. Its easier to do all of that on the ground while static. From there once you get into Indian territory just do your normal fence in. Lights off Master Arm on, CM systems up mavs cooling. I leave the PAC off unless I'm fixing to shoot the gun. Hope that helps
  12. I had the same exact problem (with 0 add-ons FWIW). I could see the lights on structures but no ramp/taxiway/runway and everyone in my Squadron could see MY lights just fine on the ground. I did a simple "Repair DCS World" and boom problem solved.
  13. Hello, I am Nicholas from the 319th and we are looking for some new members. We are building the 319th from the ground up and are now at the point to where we are willing to pick up some new guys. Currently we are looking for people playing A-10C and CA. The 319th was created to blend realism with fun. Although it is a Europe based Squadron we are willing to accept members worldwide. We have guys living in The Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Denmark, and the United States. Currently we have 6 active pilots at various ability levels. Please drop by our website ( 319th.eu ) or our Teamspeak channel (current TS is updated on website). Contact myself (Doughboy) or Reaper if you have any questions. Thanks!
  14. I'm having the same issue.....
  15. I'm devastated. RIP brother. Godspeed.
  16. FWIW I saw a A-10 pilot in Bagram (Afghanistan) get his A$$ handed to him for burning out the motors from leaving them pinned to the firewall for too long. He had to RTB with a IFE cause the motors were shot. IDK if they have a WEP built into them or not but from what RL stuff I know you cant leave them in MIL for too long, hence all those pretty green, yellow, and red marks on your engine gauges.
  17. My Squadron flew a mission last night to try out the new JTAC improvements at night on A-10C. We had overcast with the base at about 9,000FT. The NVGs seem to be utter crap now. The max range with them turned all the way up was .5 mi. The pod was even worse in BHOT WHOT. The picture was totally washed out. We tried everything we could do to get a good picture in the pod to no avail. It was marginally better than using EO mode in total darkness. Any one else having this problem?
  18. Could it be a Christmas Tree SAM?
  19. Wild Bll- Thanks for the feedback! I'll look into the resources that you listed. I did jump in the 76th server this evening and got some academic' from those guys (Falcon). Just like I believed I know about 10% of the capabilities of the a/c and systems. I have teamspeak so I got that taken care of now! I'll look into joining a vSqd at some point I imagine. Harz-Glad you enjoyed them and thank you.
  20. I can ramp start and employ all the weapons using the tactics taught in the Training missions. I'll look into the Squadrons and stuff. Thanks for the feedback.
  21. Hi, I've been into "sims" ever since Jane's ATF. I put some time into Falcon 4.0 AF and I'm new to the DCS A-10C world. I've ran through all the tutorials and have checked out some ho-to videos on youtube. I'm getting the hang of the game but I know I'm using this platform at about 20%. I was wanting to see if there are some folks on here that would not mind taking some time to teach a n00b how to become a killer through the multiplayer. I'm not sure what all I need to DL in order to play with you guys but I'm DLing DCS World and when that is done I'll plug in the A-10C module for it. If you are intrested in helping me out let me know if there is anything else I need to get spun up and what voice comm program I need to get!! Thanks for your help! Here are some A-10 related pics I took at Bagram AB Me up in an "A" model Bomb (MK-82 DSU-33) I painted on ST8 Close up of the -82 30MM HEI At Sunset
