Yes, I use a Razer Tartarus, and it's a nice addition to my VR simpit. Using the software would be best, yes. Open Razer Synapse, select the tartarus and start binding the buttons. I find it best to bind the buttons to joystick buttons 1 through 24 instead of keyboard keys. That way they do not interfere with any keyboard bindings you may have set. Costumize it, hit save, and you should be able to bind the Tartarus to DCS control settings right away.

Excellent! That did it. Thanks for your help!

No, there is no kneeboard command in the VA profile. Only in the Viacom editor.
-
I have voice trained the word. When I run speech recognition and Viacom at the same time, I can see that speech recognition hears me say "kneeboard" with 90% certainty every single time. Viacom however doesn't recognise it. It thinks I'm calling 'Boar' or sometimes 'port' and it asks for additional input. So if the speech recognition knows what I'm saying but the function is not activating, could the problem be in the license activation? If I didn't have the license for the kneeboard DLC and I said "kneeboard", this is what you would expect to happen, I'd think? I am however sure that I activated the license. I'm interrested what the 'kneeboard' DCS control command does, I won't be able to test it myself today.

I meant the VA profile list. However, I just did another clean install of both VoiceAttack and Viacom, this time also deleting any files remaining in my user/appdata/roaming/voiceattack folder, which I did not do last time. After reinstalling both VA and Viacom, the realistic ATC finally seems to work - it now recognises any ATC related comms such as ball and see you at ten. This part of the problem is solved! I still however can't get the kneeboard to work. It just doesn't recognise the word. I would be more than happy to just bind it to a key. There are instructions in the manual for this, but I'm not having any luck, I'm not sure if the instructions in the manual are meant to show and hide the kneeboard, or just to browse between tabs on the kneeboard. Is there a foolproof way to bind the show/hide function of the keyboard to a key or button?

I've been a happy user of Viacom for quite some time, it has worked like a charm. Only now that I have bought 'Realistic ATC' and 'Kneeboard', I'm having trouble. Viacom just will not recognise any phrases that are related to the DLC. See you at ten, ball, clara, kneeboard... It doesn't recognise the words and (therefor) it doesn't do anything. When I set an alternative word for "kneeboard" it doesn't recognise that either. I have tested it and Windows speech recognition on the other hand is 95% certain that I'm saying kneeboard, for example. I have completely deleted Viacom and reinstalled it, activating the licenses again, but the problem persists. I'm not seeing the commands for the DLC in the commands list either, except for kneeboard. Both Voice Attack and Viacom are up to date. I have not activated VSPX... I'm at a loss since I have checked that all my settings are as described in the manual. What could be the problem?

I use the Oculus rift in combination with Oculus Touch. In the stable release version, I'm able to see my virtual hands in the cockpit when I use the Touch controllers. I'm also able to flip switches etc. Everything works fine. In the open beta, I can only see and use my hands in the menus. As soon as I load a mission and I am in a cockpit (either A-10C or F-18 ) I can no longer see my virtual hands. When I press the trigger I can at least see the cursor/crosshair, but I can not use it to operate switches.
-
I'm having the very same problem. I'm sure it worked fine untill just a couple of weeks ago....
-
Ah yes, I forgot about that after almost a year of using the oculus. The TM Cougar is plug and play with the A10C, no fiddling with keybindings. You can attach them to the monitor using poster-stickers... The same type kids use to put posters on their bedroom walls. They will hold just fine and will leave almost no residue when you take them off.
-
However, if you haven't bought the third monitor yet there's a better investment you can make as far as flightsimming goes (It may seem subjective but I think it'll be hard to find anyone here who disagrees). If you haven't got a trackIR or a similar device, you should definitely invest in one of those. Or google for ED tracker, a device that perfoms the same function but cheaper.

External view question from beginner pilot
RagingBunny replied to alt10k's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
You know you're taking things serious when you're a DCS beginner but already use the TM hotas and a dual screen setup . I was three years in before I got a similar setup :joystick:. Anyways, to be somewhat helpful: the people who frequent this section of the forums: (https://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=96) will likely be able to help you out. Specially in the home cockpit subforum there. -
"The A-10C: Stone Shield campaign offers you a variety of challenging missions in which you must not only act as a tank killer, but also operate as a sniper making one shot and one kill engagements." I'm quite sure they mean that there are missions (or maybe just one) where you do not just engage any enemy unit but are required to kill a specific target, and that target only. So, not sniping as in the coward's choice of class in any FPS but as in doing a precision strike with your A-10. I agree with Mikesinn that more info about the campaign would be nice, but I'm sure that other players will have provided that info in a week or so.

I enjoy the quality of the videos also. Very well done! A subject I that I would love to see covered, and have not seen covered anywhere other than in the Maple Flag training campaigns, is system failures. Restarting an engine mid flight. Coping with failing hydraulics, such as how to lower your landing gear. How to land without hydraulics. Knowing what electric systems are tied to which engine so I know what systems I'll be missing when an engine goes out. Maybe cover the most basic warning lights in the cockpit and what to do when they light up. I'm not ashamed to say I'd use this knowledge pretty often... AAA, SAMS and I are well acquainted :smilewink:.

I have this issue too. It's a bit annoying that it's still not fixed after 2 or 3 weeks. I'm sure it's possible to fly the missions solo, but the reason I pay for a campaign is the added immersion. Having three hogs in the parking area not moving because of a bug is a pretty good way to remind you that you are playing a game and break immersion. Here's to hoping it'll be fixed soon!

The slew control button is also clickable. I use that for zoom. Works great. Spotting is a problem for me too. It has made me use my wingman a lot more as he has 20/20 vision. When I'm able to find the target with my tgp (a10), I sometimes try to locate landmarks with it directly around the target that will help me find it during the gun run. Well it's a problem for me. I bought a cheap numpad and put it next to my throttle. Then I used hot glue and small bolts to write my own 'braille' on it so I can recognise the keys with my rift on. I actually did all this in anticipation of the feature where you can bind mouseclicks to other controls. Even tough the warthog throttle has those fuel and engine switches that are rarely ever used, and which would seem like good candidates to bind to mouse clicks, those switches are nigh impossible to reach when the throttle is pushed too far forward. So if it's not a lot of trouble... please allow the mousefunctions to be tied to the keyboard. Verstuurd vanaf mijn GT-I9305 met Tapatalk

Hi, In 1.5.4 release version, I tried binding the left mouse button and right mouse button to my keyboard. However, I am not allowed to select the keyboard in the options - controls menu. Every column in the control menu works; the throttle, the stick, rudder, etc. When I double click the trottle column on the left mouse button row, for example, I can bind the left mouse button to any control on my throttle. But not so for the keyboard column. Clicking on the keyboard column to assign a specific function to it does not work in the UI interface menu. The window to select a key to bind to that function does not open.

Hi, I haven't played the open beta version of 1.5.4, but I did read that people with Rifts were having issues with taxi/ landing lights being out of position in one of both eyes. I updated my release version to 1.5.4 today and I'm having excactly that problem. I believe the left eye is different. It's quite uncomfortable. I bought a 10 euro numpad and I glued some small bolts to the keys in unique patterns. The bolts help me identify the keys with my finger. I use these keys for time acceleration, NVG´s, to center the rift view, and I will probably use the large enter key for the ejection seat. I put the numpad right next to my throttle so I can always find it with my left hand. I plan to assign the left- and right mouse buttons the numpad as well when that feature is implemented. So there is a 10 euro solution to your problem

DCS graphics settings and oculus debug vaules for oculus rift.
RagingBunny replied to hannibal's topic in Virtual Reality
Very good initiative, I've been looking for info on the best settings for looks and performance for vr. Maybe add: e) average fps? A) i5 4690k @ 4.3 ghz, R9 290 tri-X, win 10 64 bit. B) Textures medium, visibility medium, trees 5000, everything else off/ lowest. C) 1.5 D) 1.5 E) 70 - 90 at high altitude, mostly above 45 on the deck. Shadows look amazing in vr but are too much of a performance hit. MSAA and Aa make switch labels easier to read but too much of a performance hit also. I decided to put the little bit of graphics power that my gpu has into visibility because seeing ground textures suddenly disappear in the near distance was too much of an immersion breaker. Currently selling my mother in law on ebay to buy a 1080. -
Guide to Oculus Rift Settings for a readable cockpit.
RagingBunny replied to Mad Dog 7.62's topic in Virtual Reality
You can't compare the graphics settings using a 2d monitor versus using VR. It's a whole different ballgame. Yes you will notice that details that you used to see are gone. No more heat blur. No more shadows for me on my rig. But the tradeoff is that you're actually in the cockpit. That was excactly my first thought when I loaded up DCS in the rift for the first time: "My god I'm actually inside the cockpit." You can take all the grass, clutter, heat blur etc from me and keep it, as long as I get to be "in the cockpit" rather than looking at a prettier 2d image of a cockpit :smilewink:. -
You may want to inform the tower at some point that you'd like to land [emoji6] .

Tests with Oculus CV1 and a GTX 1080 pixel density
RagingBunny replied to WindyTX's topic in Virtual Reality
Surprised also. I have the same videocard and an I5 4690K @ 4.3 ghz and I can only afford to set textures to medium, visible distance to medium, trees to 5500 and everything else turned down/ off. Fps is often at 45 fps which is very playable but from a hardware standpoint, not impressive.
