  1. Yes... it did not work :( it was an artricle about the GA-GAU-8 GE Gattling gun... I can't seem to get the article to upload (its an e-mail document), but I might be able to upload a JPG from it. More anon....
  2. A friend of mine posted me this... knowing that I am a Warthog fan:- I hope it displays correctly.... Of well, it did not display, pity :(
  3. serial #16796 Location: Hampshire - UK (Hampshire Hog) :)
  4. Aghhh, a hybrid... :noexpression: a UHID ? Is that a 'Hall effect sensor'? I know the Saitek only uses old style pots... but I figuered if the physical construction was good I could change the pots out for the Hall effect device's later... anyhow, ordered the Saitek so I should be getting control of the rudder now... its a bugger using 'X/Z' keys when landing :pilotfly: Thanks for all the advice guys.
  5. Hi Having recently started using DCS World and the A-10C with a TH-HOTAS Warthog... its time to invest in some pedals. I have looked at the Saitek Pro Combat Flight rudder pedals and they receive excellent reviews and seem to be of heavy duty part metal construction. Also of course the Thustmaster pedals are an option. I have a home built cockpit and the Saitek will fit inside. I would appreciate any thoughts and or recommendations on the above pedals for use with the DCS sim, A-10C and TH-HOTAS Warthog... i.e. will the Saitek work with the Warthog controller? :joystick: I have never used flight sim pedals before, having normally used a j/stick with a rudder twist stick... things are starting to get more serious :) Thanks for any help... IJammer
  6. Yup, thanks guys... dyslectic here, was trying with LCntl+M :( Thanks for the link to the PDF for the key strokes, very useful. SADL... is'nt that some form of comm's between aircraft? Probably to advanced for moi yet as I have only just got airbourne with the Hog!
  7. Newbie.... but have been on-line several times and noticed flyers chatting to each other/group... I looked at the key bindings but for the devil of me I can't find the key that initialises a text chat? I did use a text button once while as a spectator... but can't remeber which key I used! I tried my final desperate scheme of mashing all the buttons until something hackled... need-less to say that did not work either. Perhaps no one wants to talk to moi LOL :joystick: :helpsmilie: IJammer
  8. Thanks sobe, Patriot... following your program/file link fixed it  As soon as I hit the right directory it suggested an update... it only took about 10 minutes, so I think it used the v.1.2.3 d/load file I already had. Gave it permission to continue and away she went. Tried the multi-player and all the servers came up. One happy bunney... :) Thanks again guys...
  9. Thanks for the reply sobe... that sounds probable, but how do I find/run the download file or inicialise another download? The updater seems not to recognise that I still have the old version installed and is not offering a fresh download? Surely it should go check a file somewhere on my installation to check the version number?
  10. Hi As a newbie to DCS and having recently installed DCS World (v.1.2.2) and the A-10C from the DCS website. It seemed that every time I started DCS it went to check for updates which I was well pleased with as it seemed to keep check of my DCS files on a daily basis as does Steam. However, a couple of days a go it started to d/load the new (mega) update v. 1.2.3... as it looked like huge update possibly taking a couple of hours with my slow)ish) ISP connection I left it to carry on. Anyhow, when I went back to check... I had an error message box stating 'the update could not be installed as it was stopped by the user!' Emmm, not me gov, I did'nt do anything! Anyhow, I tried to start DCS World and it loaded ok... but it was v.1.2.2 7075 which I assume is not the updated version. Anyhow, it ran ok and I was able to practice using some smart ordinance. I tried the Multiplayer mode, but I could only see two servers running on the list (old version?). So I assumed because my update has not completed the multiplayer list is not showing all the latest servers? I think the update file has downloaded... and maybe just wants a manual start to spring it into action... I have a standard default file installation... so, does anyone know which directory/file I could try and run to complete the update? It is possible Windows (Vista 64bit) came up and asked for administrator permission to run the file and then timed out? I have a similar procedure with other s/ware where I have to give permission to complete. Any help appreciated in getting to v.1.2.3... IJammer (newbie)
  11. Ok... thanks guy's, most helpful ideas. I don't have ITracker yet, something on the 'todo' list, but that paddle sounds like it could be useful there. Also the modifier... yup, never thought of that and must admit I have not delved that deep into the DCS controller settings yet; still getting to grips with the defaults. I like the idea of the paddle controlling the wheel brakes at the moment... as a couple of times I have shot off the black stuff while fumbling for the 'W' key! I have yet to organise some rudder peddles... so still using 'z' & 'x' for nosewheel/rudder steerage. Ok, on the jitter/wobble with the throttle slider control... aghhh, its associated with the LED strip eh! Well, I never installed Target. Someone advised it was not required if only using the A-10C (at the moment). My LED's do not light up... as I understand it then, its the Target software that controls the LED's. Do they have any function apart from a pretty display? Perhaps I should install the Target stuff then... unless there is a down side to that? Again, thanks for all the help guy's; a great community on here and I shall look forward to knocking some of you out of the sky LOL IJammer
  12. Hi As a DCS/A-10C newbie and using a recently acquired TH Warthog HOTAS (what a beast :joystick:); I was quite impressed with the fact that the A-10C recognises the TH Warthog straight off with regard to controller settings. I have set the throttle (unused/mapped as default) friction slider (to the right of the throttle bars) as a cockpit view zoom... although that does make the viewed display 'wobble' when set between either end of zoom and middle setting. Middle and end settings are stable. Anyone else suffering from this 'wobbling' zoom affect on the throttle zoom? The zoom on the KP (\,*) is stable what ever setting. Maybe I should disable the KP settings if I am using the throttle slider zoom? Just thought of that one... The other point that help would be appreciated on is what would be a useful mapping for the j/stick unused 'button/bar' situated at the lower/front of the joystick? As far as I am aware this button lever is not actually implemented in a real A-10C... however, it seems like a useful addition. I have it set as a 'snap-shot' pic taker at the moment, but I have no doubt that you long term TH Warthog users will have set it to something more useful, any ideas? Nothing rude please... :) One more newbie question... where can I find more time? This flight sim is taking over my life!:helpsmilie: TIA for any help here... IJammer
  13. Yup, just what the doctor ordered. I was about to make something like this up for myself... so thanks for sharing. You saved me a job, I can spend the time in cockpit now :) I look forward to any others that you may have in the pipeline. IJammer
  14. LOL... yup, I did that, hit the 'G' key by mistake while on the runway, she promptly sat down on the tarmac and would not pop back up of course. Just to see how good the software was I applied full throttle... got up to about 3mph... but not quite enough to rotate LOL IJammer
  15. Thank you Lange, you are correct (you knew that you were) the manual is there. If ever I get the weapons to fire... I promise not to shoot you down :) IJammer (gone green) edit : PS, and thank you EtheralN... another newbie on the slippery slope :)
  16. Thanks for posting the cockpit layout/tags for the SU25... you mention that the page is from the SU25 Flight Manual... I wonder if you could be so kind as to post a pointer to where that is. I have looked in vain for it on both this forum and the DCS web site. I have only just d/load the DCS World (amazing) and of course the SU25 is included with that as a freebie, but I am having the same problem as the original poster... i.e. not able to read the ruskie instrument tags; worked most of them out and your flight deck pic helps a lot :) I am also having trouble getting the weapons to operate... I suspect I may have to switch them on first as I have mapped the select weapon ('D' on the KB) to my TM HOTAS X (not the expensive one :)) and fire weapon to my stick trigger... but the weapons still refuse? Any help appreciated for a newbie. I hope to progress to the A-10C, but one step at a time :) DaveH-UK (IJammer)
  17. harmodi... good luck with the upgrade. If you want a cheap joystick (but a good one) get yourself along to some local boot sales (flea markets), I have recently purchased a couple of logitech extreme/wingman 3D for 20p (a few cents). USB and work fine. I do also have a Thrustmaster HOTAS X purchased new (a few more bucks obviously)... so don't deny yourself a J/stick even if it is a cheapie. Just make sure it has a USB plug on the end of the cable :) IJammer
  18. LOL it sounds like the AOB (angle of Bow) on my submarine sim (SH4), every time you check, the target has moved and the angle has changed :) IJammer
  19. Ok, I undestand how this works now... DCS is the virtual world envioroment that the modules run in, including the A-10C and other aircraft (modules). One aircraft (module) is included with the free DCS World to get you going. Neat concept... I like it. :) Anyhow, I have started downloading the 'World' files now as I speak... I have a slow internet connection as I am in a fringe area (i.e. a major city in the UK), so this will take some time. I will deal direct with the horses mouth so to speak and forgo Steam this time... I have heard that updates for software obtained via Steam can be delayed until they can fit them into there schedule. Thanks again for all the help on this... I will now trawl through the forum 'stickys' as there seems to be a monumental amount of information on this sim. Regards, DaveH-UK (IJammer)
  20. Thanks for the reply guy's. I have stumbled across a couple of orher threads on here and they seem to concur with what you are saying. I think I will take your advice and deal direct with DCS World... I am not sure if 'DCS World' is a seperate piece of software from DCS as one of you mentions installing DCS World seperate from the A-10C software? Perhaps it is a larger 'virtual world' to operate the A-10C in? Anyhow, thanks again for the advice... I will visit the DCS web site later a commence a download. Looks like I may have just missed out on some special offers Steam & DCS were offering; ok, to bad, but this software looks worth every dollar that the vendor is asking. Yup hamodi, I was wondering if my PC would be up to the task... it is a quad core 3.2Mhz running Vista 64bit OS with 8Gb ram and pretty high stepping ATI GFX (although that ony has 1Gb ram onboard), a couple of years old now. Anyhow, I think I exceed the recommended specs. If not... time to upgrade (again):) Damb, I just built a new PC for my grandson and that's better than mine now! Ok, perhaps see you all on line... "Watch your six!" :) DaveH-UK (IJammer)
  21. Hi guy's, new here, so please forgive me if I am asking any noob questions. I have a pretty useful PC that I play a few other sims on... mainly car racing and submarine sims; as I have not dabbled with flight sims for a while I thought I might give this DCS A-10C Warthog a go as it looks awesome in the YouTube replays I have seen. It is available via Steam and was wondering before I purchase it that way if there are any issues with Steam and the DCS A-10C ? Generally I don't have any problem with Steam and like the auto update features they offer. Anyhow, if there are any horror stories... best to find out now before I part with the readies :) Thanks for any advice... DaveH-UK (IJammer)
