Thing is i can't really spot slow or non-moving objects. They need to be moving in order for my eyes to spot it, maybe that's why i was able to spot air targets sooner.
-
I was getting pretty descent at spotting targets when i use to play IL2 Cliffs of Dover but what i really have trouble with are ground units. I've decided to do as AceKng said and toggle them off at the beginning of the mission and use my macro to momentarily turn them on.
-
But if i do that i cannot turn the labels on at all. Unticking it in gameplay options disables them permanently.
-
What i was planning to do is make a macro in Saitek Smart Technology where pushing and releasing the button both pressed shift f10 that way it would only be on while i hold the button. Problem is the labels would have to be off at the beginning of the mission or it would just be turning them off temporarily.

There is a worn black skin but what if i wanted a shinny, new, off the assembly line black skin? Is anyone aware of any? Something along those lines:
-
Thing is, if i could have it on only as i hold the button, it would be an incentive to have them off most of the time. But it doesn't look like its possible to do it the way i originally planned so i guess i'll just have to do it that way instead.

Is there any way to have the labels on in gameplay settings but having them toggled off by default when entering a mission? I would like to learn to play without labels but can't find any targets most of the time. By having the labels off by default i could momentarily turn them on to get a basic picture of where the enemy is. Any suggestions? (Yes i know i could just turn them off at the beginning of the mission but i already have so much to remember.) EDIT: I was thinking of using one of my unused joystick buttons as a macro to only show labels as long as i hold the button down. But for that to work best i would need icons toggled off at the beginning of the mission.

How to fix HMS offset in DCS:BS 1.2.2?
IonicRipper replied to jib's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I use to have it entered but then i realized how annoying it was when zooming in to look at the Shkval. I think the developers had the right idea to move it slightly up. Basically, the HMS is only to direct the Shkval LOS in the general area of the target then slew the camera to lock it. -
Seems interesting. Any Youtube videos of it?

I'm not sure if its me or just a game bug... Is anyone else having trouble getting responses from towers sometimes? For example, i contact the tower for startup and taxi clearance without any trouble but when i request permission to takeoff or land i get no response.

Boy would i love me some piece of desert map :(
-
To be honest, i set all the controls in Saitek Smart Technology. Only thing i have set in game are the cyclic and collective axis.
-
You can try mine, it works well enough for me. I don't have a diagram of it but you can check the controls out in SST. Feel free to change whatever you like.

If you're talking about the Big HUD Font mod then I've only encountered a few overlapping words. Nothing major.
-
Yes i know but what I'm looking to do is change the HUD size to keep it within the frame when i move my head back in game.
-
Bump, anyone?
-
^ So did you need clearance before you started the APU? Or only to start the engines?
-
Just starting to learn the Warthog and I'm confused about a couple of things... 1) I couldn't contact the tower before the APU was running and the generators operating. Does the APU have to be on in order to contact the tower or did i forget to do something? (Radio doesn't operate on battery alone?) 2) Is the request usually asked before or after the APU was turned on?
-
Using it right now although not online. I don't think there would be any problems online as it simply rewrites some info in the view files. But i could be wrong.
-
I think what you're looking for is RCtrl + RShift + NumPad / or * to move the cockpit camera forward or aft. The problem is the outer parts of the HUD will be hidden by the frame.
-
That's especially true in the US military. They have shotcuts for about everything. It's very confusing when trying to learn how to fly the Warthog.

Thanks Peter, that's exactly what I was hoping for! Is there any chance of characters overlapping each other or any other bug? For the follow up question: I would like to move the pilot's head in game to a farther back position. I find its too far forward, almost pressed on the dash. I know how to move the default cam position but when i do, because the HUD keeps its original zoom level, I lose sight of most of it because of the frame. Is there any way to reduce the HUD zoom level to fit it to the HUD screen? (I know it sounds like I'm countering my original question but hopefully the bigger font will help.)
-
Actually, thanks to TrackIR i wouldnt need to map an axis to move the head. Thanks for the input but i'm looking for something else. Although i might just play with the zoom instead if nothing comes up. EDIT: Also, i'll have a follow up question once (and if) this one is resolved.

Because my vision is not as good as it should be (and my monitor is a good distance away) i find the A-10's HUD somewhat difficult to read in wide FOV. I never had that problem in the Russian aircrafts because their HUD's characters were a good size and easy to read. I can see the HUD just fine its reading the speed or distances that i find difficult. Is there any way to increase the size of these characters? P.S. Glasses are not an option for now.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
IonicRipper replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Too bad, how awesome would that have been!
