  1. Thanks dude, That explains that. However, it does suggest the manual needs an update then as the current one which is dated January 2020 doesn’t echo the actual operation you kindly supplied. Sort of devalues term ‘read the f****** manual somewhat? Waistcat
  2. Thanks mate, yes that works but it still doesn't explain the reasonng for this confusion. I just went through the manual and I couldn't find 'checking in' listed anywhere in the manual's Keyword reference. Checking out and check out are both phrases listed under JTAC. I looked at ATC and Carrier ATC but nothing there either. But it does appear in the keywords database and its clearly a used phrase as its listed in the JTAC flow page as a radio call. Ah well - your suggestion is a decent work around. Thanks buddy Waist cat
  3. Keyword editor and alias creation Believe it or not this request for help doesn't centre around the latests update (well I don't think it does!) It's with regard to the keywords editor and specifically the JTAC phrases. I'm having problems with the phrase 'checking in' whilst attempting to communicate with the JTAC. so to overcome this I wanted to create an alias and I was going to use the phrase 'with you' but I'm struggling to understand why, when I select the phrase 'Checking in' to add my alias to it, the catagory for 'Checking in' is showing in the AI Comms|Carrier ATC and the segment is is showing as (ATC) Checking in. 'Checking out' (the next phrase on the drop down menu list) is showing in the AI Comms|JTAC category and the JTAC segment. so why the switch? Then when I tried to add 'With you' as an alias to Checking in, it gets placed as an alias to Wilco! which is a reply statement! How can I make an alias for the JTAC flow when the Phrase 'Checking in' isn't listed in the JTAC catagory even though it is a phrase clearly used in the Manual for the JTAC flow training section. Any guidance or clarification as to what I'm doing wrong will be greatly appriciated. Waistcat
  4. Hollywood, thanks mate, Audio resumed - Redir to off. DCS Audio - main audio out to speakers - headphones set to my headset. Happy days. Waistcat.
  5. Andy, if I have understood you correctly, you wish to use your voice to replace the key stroke for certain systems? I use my voice for a number of systems and it’s really simple to set up. Go to edit profile, choose create ‘new command’ which opens the edit window. Type in the command you want where it says ‘when I say’ and make sure the box next to this is ticked. Then go further down this window to the ‘key press’ box, choose this and another widow opens representing the key stokes you make. Press the keyboard key stroke(s) associated with the operation you want to voice activate. When done ‘Apply’ this to the profile and it gets added to the profile. You should be good to go.
  6. Not so sure it’s a dcs issue now! I ran another test with no Viacom or VR and this time I did get a response from DCS. Switched to Viacom in VR and but no response. I switched on sub titles in dcs audio to check the transmissions I made where being received. Frustrating!
  7. After further testing I have an issue that perhaps someone can assist me with? After the dcs 2.5.6 update and the Viacom latest update that overcome the compatibility problem I’m left with no audio responses to any radio calls. I have deduced that the fault is with dcs as I have run DCS without Viacom and out of VR and whilst I can hear the pilots voice when using the F menus, I can’t hear any response associated with the radio call. Which is mirroring what happens when I use my own voice in Viacom. Is there something missing file wise? I’m a bit stumped so anyone got any ideas?
  8. No in game sound responses for me either. I can see there was responses recorded in the speech log window but no audio on any menu.
  9. I had the same issue. I carried out a repair of dcs and it cleared and loaded as it should. Although the situation returned at another dcs session so had to repair again. I seem to have a slight drop in smoothness performance in VR. WC
  10. A newly formed UK run group with an open invite to anyone aged 18 and above within the DCS community. As the name suggests the Joint Services Air Group (JSAG) flies both modern land and sea borne airframes and is looking to recruit pilots of any abilities to join our number. Our main aim is to promote enjoying this hobby with the realism DCS provides through the varying aircraft, environments and scenarios available to us. We actively promote learning to operate the aircraft correctly with accurate procedures and communications with the goal of being able to employ the aircraft as they were intended to be used in the real world. Key to our philosophy is to ensure a balance between that realism and having fun whilst flying. We purposefully do not have any rank structure in order to promote a community ethos. We do however, expect anyone joining us to sign up and agree our shared aspirations. We have our own dedicated servers with established F18 and AV8-B Harriers squadrons. However, we don’t want to restrict the group by only allowing certain aircraft so if you fly any other type of modern fast jet or any of the helicopters available, we can find a place for you here at JSAG. There are members who regularly fly the F14 and F16 who would welcome new pilots to help them form new squadrons. We do offer training to pilots of limited experience so if you are new to DCS and wish to join the multiplayer environment there’s a welcome for you. There is no intimidating initial training to pass nor would you find yourself being side-lined because of your inexperience for a mission. We are about inclusivity and as long as you can make the organised sessions on a Sunday night (19.00 -2000 GMT) you’ll fly. The servers are active 24/7 so you’ll get access to fly whenever you wish and there’s normally someone about to fly with. Training can be organised on a one to one basis and squadron training does operate on an ad hoc basis on weekdays again around 19.00/20.00 UK time. We operate on all the maps except Normandy. We only operate PvE however, as part of training or by mutual consent, PvP can be catered for. If we have sparked your interest, drop in to our discord channel (https://discord.gg/9YkyUWB) and simply introduce yourself and someone will contact you or if you want a little more info, PM me and I’ll help get you up and running – sorry flying! 11. Ok I have smoothness back. I changed the dcs ss setting back to 100% from 150. So The video setting is at 100% and now the dcs application setting is 100%. The new motion smoothing interface directly below the sliding scale for the dcs setting is set to always force on The // in the motion reprojection file has once again been removed and I have replaced “auto” with “motionvector” Onward and upwards! Thanks for your assistance Waistcat
  12. Appreciate the replies fellas. I’ll have a look at your suggestions as soon as I can. Waistcat
  13. I’m exasperated with my Reverb. I had everything performing as it should with regard to smoothness thanks to Thuds guide. Two days ago I fired up DCS and experienced terrible performance with ghosting and nauseating stutters. Only way I can play DCS now is to drop to 60Hz refresh rate. I simply cannot get it to run smoothly at 90Hz with my original settings. This all started after a SteamVR update. In an effort to track down what was causing this I back tracked all my settings carefully. In doing so I checked the motion reproduction settings only to find that my file had been replaced (I assume) as the // I had manually removed to force reprojection had been put back. Along with this I also noticed that there is a new facility to force the reprojection on or off in the GUI but even with this in use I still can’t replicate the performance prior to a couple of days ago. I have gone over the settings time and time again but to no avail. No point me putting what settings I have as they all are as Thuds guide which worked fine apart from now I run at 60Hz as opposed to the 90Hz. Anyone else suffered the same?
  14. Reverb returned and offered a discount if I bought another one! Sadly my experience with the HP Reverb was one of utter disappointment with its performance and with a list of 5 defects (as I see it) I complained to HP and now I'm returning it. I had the random disconnect, flickering on the right screen, very hot HMD, Dimming and audio issues with the mic. This was interesting, I have been offered a no obligation first refusal on the next batch of "tested" (HP's words not mine) Reverbs and a £50 ($64 approx.) discount if I want to buy again. They will contact me when they are available. Decision, decisions! Waistcat
  15. Flickering and strobing My 5 day old Reverb is back in its box ready to go back to HP. After around 20 minutes I get the occasional flicker which increases slowly to an uncomfortable rate. It then recedes to be replaced by what can only be described as light strobing. Like being next to the A10 in the dark with its strobe lights on, but faster! And clearly I’m not alone with these issues. Good job I’m not a Photosensitive Epilepsy sufferer... Back in my rift
  16. Thanks H, I guessed it would be, Thanks for getting back. Not holding my breath for a quick fix! Waistcat
  17. The new Razbam update for the AV8-B has an issue when using VaicomPro. If I'm using Vaicom/Voice attack. I can't hear her and even when using the volume control I cannot get her voice audible. When I don't use Vaicom, I get her voice. Unfortunately for me and others in my squadron this is in the same ball park as the Sidearm tone not working properly when Vaicom is in use. I can't fly SEAD if have Vaicom in use. Anyone know why or is there a fix? Thank you.
  18. Hello folks, Try rotating the nozzles after you have left the ramp and not on it. Accelerate off the deck as normal but resist moving the nozzles until you are completely wheels off. That way you are not forcing the weight of the airframe into the ramp. Waist cat
  19. Hi Hollywood, Thanks for the reply and request. I think you may be right as this problem with the Side Arm and Aim 9 tone is in both DCS comms menu and when using Vaicom. I have even discovered that the missile tone will not stay on either. One for Razbam or DCS or both! Waistcat
  20. Hello Hollywood, Had a quick glance back on the forum to see if this issue I and a others on my squadron are experiencing when using either Aim9 or Side Arms in the AV8B Harrier. I couldn't see any reference, so perhaps this is a new issue? The problem is this: If we transmit a message when we have side arm or the aim 9 missiles selected we lose the active/lock tone. The only way we can get the tone back is to reset the volume on the missile via its volume knob. Is this something you are aware of? Thanks Waistcat
  21. Hi Hollywood, Did you get to the bottom of Redtail's issue with the lua for the chatter issue he has had? If so, have you got the solution as I too don't have the chatter when fire up the radios. Did what you suggested to him and tried other aircraft but still the same result. I have to manually start chatter and auto start is not on. Thanks Waistcat
  22. Super, Thank you
  23. Hi Hollywood, I'm slightly mystified regarding the Modified database instructions when attempting to delete the old keywords for the new. After opening the VoiceAttack widow via the pencil icon in VA, I have the edit profile window open. Its here I don't quite understand the procedure further. The edit window opens and the only AI comms command I can see is (as you describe) in the keywords collection line which if I double click on, the edit command window opens and the only reference to the "when I say" aspect is next to an empty window. What have I missed? Thanks Waist Cat
  24. Great news H, look forward to it. Waistcat
  25. I can't get it to work either. Yet again I get the "no DCS detected" in the Voice Attack log and I'm asked to follow the steps on Page 33 of the manual AGAIN! I too have given up and await the next update whenever that may be.
