Hey all, I was researching if Hog drivers wear watches with particular / special functions and came across this image: http://www.moody.af.mil/shared/media/photodb/photos/101122-F-8832G-568.jpg Is anyone able to tell me which watch model and year this is? My best guess is a Casio: Protrek but the exact model and year is proving a little difficult to pinpoint! Any guesses? Cheers

OK, problem solved! After going through everything again, I realized I had somehow reset the monitor resolution in DCS and it was no longer wide enough to see the exported views!

Hi all. Today i upgraded from the free version of iControl iOS version to the paid version and I'm experiencing a strange issue where I have blank CDU and MFCDs on the iPad. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm positioning the exported displays on a virtual monitor and have also uninstalled iControl and re installed it. :wallbash: The first time I set this up with the free version I had absolutely no issues. If anyone has a suggestion or solution, I'd be very grateful for the input. Cheers!

Was wondering this myself last night! Flying the Sunset Sierra mission and realized quickly that 4 passes to take out a nice column of artillery was just stupid! Thanks for the tip P*Funk!

4k Philips Monitor 40" at 60hz
Toolboy77 replied to rajdary's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I second this request, I just started looking into upgrading my 5 year old 22 inch monitor and I don't really know what to look out for in a monitor that will function primarily as a combat flight sim monitor! -
If you're new to sims (or just new to DCS), I would start off with what's fun for you! This is how I started, simply because everything at once can be really intimidating. I'd go over the same lessons / topics that I found fun or interesting until I was satisfied I had it sorted. Once I could do something fluidly and on the fly I was then drawn to other aspects. This approach is what still keeps me flying!

Ooooops, my bad! Um, yeah, what he said! In all seriousness, Cheers for the ExcessiveHeadspace link! Hadn't found that one yet!

Me too, except I learnt the hard way (during the single player mission "Hideout") that a belly landing would have been the better choice..

Mods and Tweaks for VR (Oculus Rift)
Toolboy77 replied to RoyMi6's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yep would really like to see this too! I've put my DK2 away for a bit and gone back to my TrackIR5 just because I was missing the detail and graphics. -
I also wasn't aware of the TMS up short function of the Mavericks, will try this out tonight!

Yep, this is my experience as well. While its not a huge annoyance, it can some times pose a problem in flight and mean the difference between getting a fast last second shot off or having to break off and visually acquire the target again. Awesome! I'm curious to see what you find. Like I said its not a huge annoyance for me but if there is a fix, I'd implement it! I'm really not familiar yet with the Target software (I've only had my Warthog Hotas for a month or so), so info in this area would be a help to me at least.

Sweet! Will do mate.

Its a shame I didn't discover this sim while i was still there! I moved to Germany about 4 years ago. I do keep some pretty insane hours though so I'll keep an ear out for these groups too. Thanks for the tip Winfield_Gold!

Hey guys! I'd be in for an informal fly. I'm only self taught and haven't done any squadron training / qualifications. I'm in Germany - GMT+2 Did you guys set any dates yet?

If you love sims then this is definitely the game for you. The great thing about sims is that you can learn at your own pace...and the forums here are a goldmine of info for sim pilots of all levels wanting to learn & better themselves. After the birth of my son, I went from a few hours per day of sim time to a couple of hours per week! My learning now consists of pretty good planning when I'm not flying so that when I do sit in that chair I have most of the info in front of me. Have a search on Youtube, for JTAC tutorials, ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcJ8mlMF7qg for example ) there are a few I watched and after about 10 mins I had it all sorted out...it looks and sounds complex but it isn't. Once you do learn it, you then have another ability in game to enjoy instead of just finding your own targets!

You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C when..
Toolboy77 replied to HAVOC131's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
when you plan your annual work leave to include at least a few days of sim time... Guilty!:music_whistling: -
Just finished reading this. What a great read! Will be starting again in a couple of days.
-
Yep! I'm reading this on baltic_dragons's recomendation and I'm really enjoying it. I've already applied some of the procedures & tactics to my time in the sim and its paying off! Thanks again baltic_dragon!!!

Thanks for the link baltic_dragon! This sounds really interesting!

"On the Range" Tutorial Series featuring the A-10C
Toolboy77 replied to Bunyap's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Nice Bunyap! I thought I was pretty proficient with the Gau-8...it turns out I didn't even know how to properly employ the PAC! Thanks mate! -
I too fought with this for months and now I've purchased TrackIR5. But in the end I had to use a massive dead zone (between 10 and 20 I think) on pitch and yaw so i could at least limit shaking in the neutral position and read cockpit displays. Even then I couldn't eliminate all of it enough for it to be useful. The interesting thing though is that I never had a problem with roll or Z (zoom) axis...those were smooth as silk and very stable...not sure why that is!

I'd jump at the chance to participate in the ILS session! Any dates for that yet?
