  1. There is no need of warming up this old whining about one side ist stronger than the other thing. I truly is a simulator with many weaknesses though. It's a matter of time. Of course the 77s are weaker than AMRAAM as they should be. The missile problems are mostly the same for both. What You can do is make the best of it if You want to fly the MIG-29, just exploit it strengths. I've flown it many times, actually I don't because I can get even too many kills which aren't realistic ;).
  2. Don't forget the 77 is the weakest radar missile in game You can evade them indeed on 10km. Happend many times to my 77s as well as I did it to others. And on this distances You can pretty good see the missile, just a hard turn away ond to the ground and its gone :D. But indeed I'd love some more YT tracks. :D
  3. Don't forget a Ka-50 is very hard to track, as it's always in the notch when flying very slow and low, sometimes it takes to get es far as 5nm to even see him. But indeed I also had some KA's which took a lot of stuff I pumped into them, LOL. And then still do an emergency landing. :pilotfly:
  4. I think Frostie ist right with this, You can´t measure it down to the exact metre, maybe in SP but in MP there are too many network and recording issues. But I don´t mind. Please keep posting, it´s fun for me and I´m just too lazy coping track files into folders.:music_whistling:
  5. LOL, guess that was my lucky day. Poor Falcon! I´m sure I heard these 2 ones. I think that shows that missiles have proven to be very unreliable in mp esp. at hard maneouvers very close to the ground. I had some similar issue a week ago. I launched at a Su-27 very close to the sea level (10m) at his 6 on 4nm and one at 3nm. This time Amraams. Both missed though no evasive action and i had to finish him with guns. Maybe its lagging issues.
  6. Yeah, sure the best tactic against is a good coordinated 2 ship. Sometimes I split them up by giving a long range ER at the first, go to gimbals and then to the notch for the second guy. At that time they lost me both. Then it's very hard for them to stay coordinated and regain contact at me and in addition NOT getting too close as Iḿ just waiting for this. If You have DL it's a matter of seconds to go out of the notch, find the target and shooting an ET. Mostly experienced formations just realizise this and go defensive in time and so its a 0-0 kill as I cant catch them with the lame flanker. What would really interest me how realistic are these quick locks with EOS vertical scan when going hot at say 30km and this quick LA of the ETs at that distance, as this ist the very strongest russian A-t-A concept in this sim. Say even in good weather conditions referring to most information You get it's not realistic AT ALL.
  7. It would be ****ing cool to have this 30 deg 4 bar tws search pattern to our hands in DCS. It would be a much more comfortable search pattern when engaged. Unfortunatly it's a that simple radar model that you don't have the most features.
  8. Of course this isn't my only tactic, in fact I apply it less and less in last time. It has just proven to work in 90% of the cases with the flanker.
  9. I just look at the server list and know quite soon what are the capabilities of the guy I'm facing. ;-) And above told tactic aplies to both the experienced with wingman and the noob. I never go offensive as long as I'm attacked by 2 and at least one still got me in his radar sight. In fact with this tactic You normally don't meet the experienced squadron and thus can't control the airspace.
  10. Like developing bad habbits? Or what You mean?
  11. Sure I'm only speaking of 1 vs 1 or even better a bunch of uncoordinated F-15's, they're the perfect victims ;). Sure it's maybe up to decent mp tactics to bring in some realism here, which is otherwise 1-1 almost non existant.
  12. Hmm when I sneak upon a guy that way and surprise him at 15 km almost nobody manages to get his radar settings up in time to launch. It would be possible in visual mode by taking the missile smoke as reference (I've done sometimes, alway resulting in a mutual kill) but thats only few seconds before impact in Your own plane. Understandably the most guys try to get away still, but are chanceless. I still think in the sim now the su27 is the very better kill-taker but with these tactics of course You can't purposeful control the airspace, You can just hang around and wait for somebody run into Your trap. For that reason the F-15 is more interesting for me in the moment and esp. for the AFM :D
  13. Even then, it's quite easy to stay in the notch all the time and Your radar doesn't see me no matter what settings. I just patrol in the notch up and down and wait for You to come closer. I'm not even speaking of mountains. This way when You're close enough You never know what hit You. But realistic?? ....
  14. Thats not tue IMO. With the flanker and DL I can have k/d of 9 to 0 or something (and none strikers) just as the advantage of this situational awarness + EOS stealth lock is just too big. If You're doing it right You can trick that F-15 radar model itm so easy that Youŕe litterally invisibile up to the time You do Your "stealth" shot. You can even do it with 27ERs as You can just sneak so close that there is no escape. But these are mostly tricks that are far from RL. There ist no way in doing this with the F-15. If You do it right and coordinated You may control the airspace very well but maybe get out with 0 kills. But thats success too as it is ment to protect strikers in certain areas. If I push it too far and want to do a kill I've probably a 50 50 chance in getting killed myself no matter how good I coordinate the attack.
  15. @ GG Yes I was also speaking only about dogfight with guns to just get the basics in flight dynamics. So to my understanding the Flanker has basically a bigger turn rate (esp. at low speed) so to say degrees per second but the Eagle has more power, say a bigger energy recource and due to that can stand max-g-pulling longer or needs shorter time to recover speed for the next maneuver. And @ Blaze Yes as far as I know the eagle is supposed to be better at max-g and sustained-g values at speeds above 400 kts. But isn't also the turn radius crucial so that You can not only turn fast but also have the geometrical advantage to stay inside the enemy turn circle and thus just have the geometrical ability to point the nose at the enemy?
  16. Do You mean the thrust-to-weight-ratio-thing and not just turning but trading speed for altitude (high jo-jo) and that sort of dogfigting theory? That would interest me too what are the basic advantages of the eagle in a dogfight?
  17. I've tested it now and I can't see a real change with that at the flanker. I still can lock afterburning targets at 140 km or so and I can lock targets head on at mil power up to 30km. (maybe more)
  18. Sure missiles are WIP and all missiles have (mostly) the same problems in game now. So that's why it depends now more on the fighting qualitiy of the plane and not the quality of the missile. The Flankers just have EOS, Datalink and Supermaneuverability meaning they have sneaking and dogfighting abilities, these abilities get now important when the power of the missiles is so weak and that's why the flankers have the big advantage in the moment. I think it's that simple. I surely don't think its on intention of ED or some tweaking or something. It just happend by accident in the struggle of keeping as close to RL as possible. But i also think its allowed to say that due to the fact that eagles mainly rely on controlling the airspace on further ranges with AMRAAMs the result in MP according to MP behaviour is just VERY far from RL. If I want to get a good kill ratio I just take the flanker as its just very easy to trick some noobs in running into an ET. But I like flying the Eagle as it is now (besides AFM) more interesting in training flexible bvr engagements on closer distance or even get to a merge where the AFM has proven to have better turning abilities.
  19. I havent tested yet but i think when its only half way reduced the russians aren´t so interesting anymore.
  20. Yeah I know this should be especially a problem with all the missile issues in fc3. Mainly I know all the basics but self training formed out some tricks that work in this version. That´s why I don´t fly the russians anymore atm because its just too easy getting kills when You´re defensive enough by accurately using the EOS sensor, which seems from the detection ranges being VERY far from realistic. ITM I practice a standard bvr approach with the F-15C.
  21. @IronMike, Fully agreed with this post!
  22. Sure I take back that special phrase. And again too I think it´s more my style of learning, I´m catching more and more the benefits of experienced advice too on my own btw.
  23. I don´t think it´s wrong to advice others on the forum about tactics. Maybe it was more my style of learning on my own. I´d just say it´s better to just know all the basics of bvr combat and the develop your own tactics like an own style than just take over told procedures as the theme is too complex in my opinion to just apply some figured out procedures .... especially for a sperbrain ;-). But maybe it´s just my own style as I´ve never flown in a squadron.
  24. Then use Your superbrain and develop Your own tactics. Tactics is about being unpredictable. If a tactic is posted here it's not a good tactic anymore.
