  1. Well, I needed something to follow up with.....now I have to think of something else ;) So Steam driven vehicles that ride on metal rails, they would be great to attack with their boiling water containers bursting after being hit and gushing water in vapour form into the surrounding air.....that sounds somewhat familiar ;) (Oh, I am still recovering from 5-hours of Surgery...maybe that's the reason ;) )
  2. Realising that EDGE will be a huge step forward, I looked at the DCS P-51 'world' when I was creating a previous trailer and have to be honest, the Sky and smoke effects were very underwhelming. The thing is if you drop FPS (gunsmoke effect) it really snaps you out of the moment you are involved in, so FPS and the hit that effects make on them really need some streamlining. Regarding Smoke effects, environmental smoke effects also need to be considered. Smoke on the ground, drifting across the landscape, huge pillars of smoke mimicking large cities burning, similar large fires. This was a huge conflict and needs a really impressive environment to make it seem like a living breathing space you are flying/competing in? Next is the weather/sky/clouds. Again, they just don't seem to have 'depth', volume or a true presence. It's almost like they are in the sky because they should be, not because they are part of your environment. Improving the clouds/high altitude skybox/weather effects would go a long way to making a difference in the sense of being there. Aircraft Damage Modelling. Just more hit decals, better detail rather than a generic huge amount of perforations or a few bullet dots, aircraft breaking apart in more varied ways and at many more places? Wing tips, wing roots, canopies shattering and being shot off, rudder shredded, engine cowling's missing but engine running can be seen, just much more and many varied damage effects. And finally on a similar but sort of unrelated point, it would be great if there was a way for RRg to be able to tweak the visible model (but only when flying in it's WW2 module) so the P-51 has the single antenna behind the cockpit rather than the 1945 twin aerial it has. just asking as surely it can be loaded into the module and a small script run to change it's visual appearance. Anyway, that's my suggestion for now, cheers, MP Fire away guys, I'm sure RRG and Ilya will like to see our thoughts
  3. Looking forward to being in on the project, guiding the decisions and directions that the funding campaigns take, it's great to feel involved and really looking forward to being a part of this process. Congratulations Ilya, bet you're glad these days are long gone: ;) Cheers, MP
  4. Well they did already mention that they would be looking at the 1943 era for the Pacific....so maybe another 2-4 aircraft ( a long way down the line!).? I'd go for a B-25, P-38, Zero and another Japanese bomber. But would love a Corsair in there :) Also, if the map making SDK turns out to be a really good feature, maybe they will have an object/aircraft one in the future too ;) Cheers, MP
  5. Until the Kickstarter is over, no need for backers only update, but thanks for the tryout. Please make these and the Jumo engine footage public, to make the most of your final day campaigning. Thanks for sharing, cheers, MP
  6. Having seen the success of the Edge video promoting the SDK, I really think that by releasing a few screen shots or even panning around the completed Jumo engine (even though un-textured), I really think it would show the community tangible evidence of work that is currently underway. Given that we are so near, these images or a brief video clip could really make the difference in reaching this stretch goal. Please? Cheers, MP
  7. Yeah. How about those who backed early get the maps produced for free, anyone else $10-15 :) that'll show them :)
  8. That's about it really. It looks set for the 262 being a possibility, maybe even (at this moment 50/50) So lets say the Developer's ask where to focus their next target at (once the Kickstarter closes and work begins). Currently it looks like a B-17 or The English Coast. My choice would be for the English Coast for the simple fact that it would allow longer flights, historical airfields and much more in-depth options for Campaign building. Once the foundation and money starts coming in for these additions, that could be put towards the creation of the B-17. Of-course there may be other options possible once it is launched, like a B-25/26 or P-38 or Mosquito, but as it stands at the moment, which of the two options (B-17 or English Coast) do you think would be more useful and possibly generate the most money? Cheers, MP
  9. In which case, what about the B-17? A single engine fighter with a cockpit is $40-50 A Four engine bomber with cockpit, Navigator, Bomb Aimer, Multiple gun positions.... $120? More? Now realistically, that seems like a huge amount, but which would be better? A fighter, bomber or English Coast? Cheers, MP
  10. I just posted this on the kickstarter messages: "Slipball excellent find. It proves Paypal is an option and should be added now! My worry is that the target for the initial starter goal of $100,000 having been reached means the project will be funded. If on the last day of looks like the stretch goal wont be reached, what is to stop 'pledgers' reducing their amount offered because they don't see the money opening up the 262 for them? That's a really negative view, I know, but I assume some of the more recent donations or increases in pledges are to try and get to that 262, and if it comes down to the last day and RRG are nowhere near (say trend is $129,000) then those pledges can easily be pulled. I think it's vitally important that in these last few days, Ilya shows a lot more presence here and looks at Slipball's link and offers Paypal. This is the chance to get those last few pledges that could make all the difference. Related to the above, looking at Slipball's link.......over $2,000,000 pledged for a side scrolling old school game :( Come on Ilya...one last push :(
  11. There does seem to have been a real.slowdown in progress regarding the financial input in the Kickstarter. I know as a community we have spread the word by video, pdf brochures and contacting various forums/websites and other possible interested parties. What do you think Ilya needs to show the public to drive the Kickstarter through at-least it's stretch goal? I think it's a shame it's not possible to create a Paypal account where payment can be sent and this could he used to remotely add funds to the kickstarter. So RRG have a Paypal account (with email address), you send funds to that Paypal saying exactly which option you require and they take the money, add it to the Kickstarter and confirm.your pledge? I think a lot of people would like some way of adding funds by Paypal, and as the main.Kickstarter goal is guaranteed to be funded, this money does not have to be taken out straight away, so it could be added to the.pot by RRG, forwarded through their own account onto the Kickstarter and then we would possibly see the funding rise substantially quickly? Two more smaller points. I think it would be good for one of the team to visit this, their official site and just say a few words to their new community. Finally what would you like to.see in an update in the remaining days that would possibly boost the sales by engaging, impressing and capturing the communities interest and imagination? I personally think some official image/ video of the 262 external model, even work in progress may spark some interest or jst something new that is not 'current' DCS World, but something DCS1944 that shows a glimpse of whT the future holds ..without being a place holder? I'd love to see a Spitfire/109 or 262 model (or P-51/190 against the new Edge terrain or against a much improved sky texture/weather effect. Just something that shows there is a bright future ahead and something that will appeal to all aspects of the Flight community. Cheers, MP
  12. Actually for a first video it's really very nicely done. Cheers, MP
  13. Got to agree. Even though the 51 in DCS is the one that will ( so I understand) appear in DCS1944, I hope the visual model can be slightly tweaked so we have the single antenna version and external mirrors :) Cheers, MP
  14. The best Ai I ever flew against was in Battle of Britan:Wings of Victory II. The Ai coder called "Buddeye" created an incredible experience against the computer controlled aircraft, against which I found myself competing against various manouvres including Yo-Yo's, rolling scissors, Immleman's.and many more. It truly felt like you were up against a real player. My favourite moment was low on the deck while chasing an enemy I had damaged. The aircraft tried to pull a climb but went into a stall and hit the deck...incredible to watch when most aircraft under Ai fly 'perfect' routines. Someone call "Buddeye"....give him the job now :)
  15. Under the title 8 days and counting ( you may need to scroll down the page a little): http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/09/27/the-flare-path-toad-array/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-flare-path-toad-array-rock-paper-shotgun Cheers, MP
  16. This is just a video to hopefully boost the funding for the Kickstarter campaign that was launched by RRG Studios to fund a new WW2 Combat Flight Simulation for the Digital Combat Simulator world. Please share it with your friends or any aviation fans. Rememeber all it takes is just $1 to show your support. The target is $150,000 and there are just 9-days to raise $42,000 Come on guys, show your support. Cheers, MP Video here: https://vimeo.com/75431503
  17. Re. Wrong video link. He was working on something else! :) Too funny. I couldn't check link on my mobile! I just rang him and he's changed it :) lol
  18. http://www.pcpilot.net/view_article.asp?ID=6886&pubID=8&t=0&s=0&p=1&i=10 I made contact and they were really enthusiastic and agreed to put it in their News section. I'm doing my best to spread the word :) Cheers, MP
  19. I'm not complaining that we have a forum, thanks for that, it really is appreciated, it's just that most people ( I was one) are looking for "DCS WWII: Europe 1944," not "RRG Studios", IMHO. If it was listed as "DCS WWII: Europe 1944" where it says RRG, it would be so much easier to find and also "DCS WWII: Europe 1944" is what people will be searching for, not the developer, which hasn't really got a high profile (yet), at-least until they launch their sim? I'm just asking for the RRG to be changed so it's easier for people to find the actual 3rd Party software which is being developed for the DCs world and called "DCS WWII: Europe 1944" It's a bit like why is one of the other third party Sub-Forums named; DCS MiG-21Bis "Fishbed" MiG-21Bis third party DCS module by studioBECZL It would be much more useful to have the sub-forum called; DCS WWII: Europe 1944 DCS WWII: Europe 1944 third party DCS module by RRG Studios Just asking to make it simpler to find. Cheers, MP
  20. While I understand ii is RRG who are making (in partnership with ED and The Fighter Collection) most people know the project as "DCS WWII: Europe 1944 I wonder if it would be possible to change the name of this forum to that instead? May just help to garner a little interest? Cheers, MP "
  21. That's about it really. The footage has been on my PC since then and I just never got round to uploading it, so here it is, no music added, just raw audio ;) Cheers, MP https://vimeo.com/75110122
  22. Here are the default controls I have for Keyboard input (file attached). Cheers, MP Default Camera Controls DCS.doc
  23. Thanks for the link. Much appreciated. I was reading through the camera controls and found quite a few. Not sure how to control the F11 camera, still working that out. I have Track IR and use it all the time. Is there a.link for a more detailed explanation of the 6-DoF camera positioning you mention in point 11? Sounds really useful. I also tried to turn the pilot body on by hitting Right-Shift + P, (in replay mode), but no pilot body appeared :( Does it have to be recorded in the trk to appear in a replay? Thanks for the info. Cheers MP
  24. Exactly what I am talking about ;) Basically the aircraft would be lit by the current time selected ( so sin low in the sky or high in the sky, but the entire environment you fky in (Sky, ground, buildings, textures) would be bright green. That way you could Chroma key the aircraft out and add it to a different background. It would be a great film making asset :) Cheers, MP
  25. Just out of interest, I wonder if this is possible? I know that the textures are moddable and that new textures can be added.....but is it possible to create effectively just a huge Green (bright Green like Green Screen in Hollywood is) box to fly around in by changing all the environmental textures? Would be great as a movie-making tool ;) Cheers, MP
