  1. I didn't know that - I prefer to spend my time either flying or playing the games I like, rather than scanning forums and so on, so I do miss a lot of info. I had downloaded all of the *-353 modules in addition to DCSW itself, so I just installed them in order of purchasing and seems to be okay. I did get a little concerned when I saw a readme note saying if I uninstalled, I would lose the activation, too (unless deactivating first) when I had been told previously that this wasn't the case unless I changed hardware or reinstalled windows. However, so far I've only had to activate the MiG-21, which was new, so seems the activations are okay, too. To be honest, there's too much info spread around in different places to keep a good overview of what's what, when 'everything is subject to change'. By the way - was well impressed with the update speed. Over 1Gb and at 7.1MB/s it was finished in a couple of minutes! It's so nice to finally have fibre... and to have a server capable of keeping up!
  2. Well, thank you, but I already uninstalled everything! It's okay though - taking the chance to sort through my 67GB of DCS stuff while reinstalling  :joystick:
  3. Great! I just let it update, only to find that I now can't install the MiG-21bis because that installer hasn't been updated! I'll now uninstall everything, reinstall 1.2.10.32095.521-353, install the MiG-21, then update again. Had about 6 flights this year and waiting for the Hawk. Well, the Lancer got here first, so after waiting over 2 years for it, I thought it was time to get back in the saddle. Silly me!
  4. There is a huge amount of stuff around regarding the issues with this patch, so please excuse me if this has been answered: Do the problems being reported only affect updated installations, or will they still be a problem with a complete reinstall, too? (not referring to mods). Thanks.
  5. Well, having said all this, there is a manual! :book:
  6. I just downloaded the latest sound mod and noticed there are two "aircrafts" folders in it. One is "Mods/aircrafts" and the other is "Sounds/Effects/Aircrafts" Have both of these been changed in the update or just the mods one? (in fact, a search I just did found several "aircrafts" folders in DCSW)
  7. I'm thinking this may all change again - or other significant changes be made - when DCSW v2.0 comes out - so wth?
  8. Yup - got mine, too, thanks! And just downloaded the module, too! Now, then, jump in straight away and who cares about getting up early, or get a good night's sleep and jump in the cockpit with a clear head in the morning... ummmmm.... :music_whistling:
  9. One way I learn a new aircraft to fly is to actually download the YouTube video(s) concerned. Then I have two options - either watch it and take brief notes - or even full checklists - that I can refer to when flying, or actually play the video on my netbook whilst flying the sim on my PC, pausing as necessary. You could do this 'live' from YT - but I like to collect all similar videos and rename them etc. I agree with you, though - especially for new pilots the last thing you want to have to do when you buy a new sim is go looking around the internet to learn to fly it.
  10. Any chance anyone can do a French AF Fw-190 paint please? I know they only had the alphas, but if I'm going to be made to fly a Fw-190 at all (or waste my contribution) then I would like to fly one in 'friendly' colours :) http://fw190.hobbyvista.com/foreign.htm Thanks. Here's a fantasy scheme: http://www.clavework-graphics.co.uk/aircraft/fantasy_2/fantasy_172.html Photos of the original French-built machines are hard to come by, so the above pic is a good 'guesstimate'. Otherwise, it's poor angles and B&W: http://www.histavia21.net/NC900n5.htm http://www.histavia21.net/NC900n4.htm http://gaubs.free.fr/ESCADRILLES/NEUNEU/Photos/NC900.htm Don't know if this Google image link will work, but LINKY there's loads of colourful shots on it!
  11. I'm very happy to report that the latest version of D3DGear now works in perfect harmony with DCSW v1.2.8  And big thanks to the D3DGear team for their very quick response to my issue. :smilewink:
  12. The reason I was enquiring is because I have no interest in the Fw-190. I was only up for the allied aircraft, but as I have the P-51D, there was no point in getting another one and the only other choice is the Fw-190. My GP (family doctor) is a flight sim nut and he loves DCS stuff, but after buying the Black Shark (the original) he is very reluctant to buy any more, after finding he just didn't have the spare time to learn all the systems. Seriously, at my appointments we spend 3 minutes on the health stuff and 15 minutes waffling about flight sims! I always take a manual to show him and discuss. I wanted to make this Fw-190D a gift to him. Is that not possible with backer rewards?
  13. I backed in the $1-19 range and got the choice of P-51D or Fw-190D. I have the Mustang and didn't want the Dora at all, but guess I'm stuck with it, so I chose it. It doesn't appear on my products list in my account, though. Will that happen when the 190 is officially released or should it be there already? I haven't downloaded it as yet.
  14. I'm looking forward to this, too. I've not done any DCS repaints yet (well, just a trainer scheme back in FC days) just FSX ones, but I'm very keen to start, using the Sabre. Loads of nice RAF squadron schemes to do! :punk:
  15. Thanks for the replies - forgot I'd posted about this. Yes, I just restarted and everything was okay - was just reporting the bug. Would have come back to say it was now okay if I'd remembered! :music_whistling: Mind you, I only just received the reply notification.
  16. I know I'm a cycnical chap (experience ;) ) and not always the most outspoken supporter of DCS, despite having all the modules except one, but I'd just like to say thanks for the bonus system. It got off to a rocky start and things were not always as clear as we'd hope - but in the end, without it I wouldn't be flying the Sabre for a long while yet. And I still have some left for the remaining modules hopefully coming out soon. So, thanks for that, DCS and BST
  17. As I said, it worked no issues for me, just in the way El Hadji describes.
  18. Could set up my axis controls from within the F-86F mission, though not convinced they were working properly - but after exiting the mission, the controls page just showed a completely blank box, regardless of aircraft chosen. Exited to GUI and retried options - controls several times, but same deal.
  19. No need to wait - $15 of bonus spent on F-86F :D
  20. I'm an AG chappy, so if the new Sabre is not able to use AG ordnance I would be hoping to wait and use at least some of my $36 bonus (if it has been re-credited yet) on that. The problem being, as ever, it will be released as an "open beta", which means it could be in beta for months. Then, when it's no more in open beta phase it must then be a new product. So I have to wait until it is no longer considered a new product, to be able to use the bonus (if I can in the first place, with Belsimtek being a 3rd party dev and all). Hmmm. Zero chance of that occurring before my remaining 5 or 6 months are up, I think. That made me laugh! Well, I never expect bonuses - they are for mega-payouts for failed bankers and sacked BBC chiefs, not such minions as myself, so I'll just forget it exists and wait for sales for those products I'm 50/50 on. EDIT: I just went over to the DCS shop and looked at the rules concerning bonuses. I think I may actually be able to use mine on that Sabre after all. This is the phrase that caught my attention: Now, there are several upcoming releases that I intend to buy - one or two probably on release day (Hawk, P-40) although whether 3rd party purchases count as a purchase is not stipulated (please clarify, ED/DCS?), so if they count, my bonus should remain active until that Sabre is no longer classed as a new product.
  21. Well, I've checked I have the latest version but still no joy. The problem is that DCSW crashes if I have D3DGear running (regardless whether recording or not) as soon as the mission loads. However, all my previous videos were made whilst playing the track file, not live. As I don't know the intricacies of the different routines the sim goes through with tracks compared to missions (apart from the obvious) it's going to be impossible for me to have a hope of sorting this. Looks like it's back to FRAPS for live shooting - and massive file sizes. (Yes, I know there are others, but FRAPS was excellent except for video file sizes and D3DGear is excellent and with small video file sizes. The others I tried weren't up to snuff for one reason or another).
  22. I have used D3DGear recording program for making my DCSW videos for about a year. I had a break flying DCSW between 1.26 and the current version 1.2.8.27915.434-316 Now I find that, whilst I can record the GUI no problem, as soon as the flight loads DCSW crashes. If I switch off D3DGear before the flight loads, everything goes okay. I'm pretty sure what the response will be here, but you never know. I'm writing to the D3DGear devs, too, to see what they say. http://www.d3dgear.com/
  23. I know what you mean - though I didn't spend anywhere near as much - I just went to check on my rewards bonus at DCS Website and see there is nothing! Now I find this thread. It's nice to be kept informed....! I didn't see this date anywhere when I checked. Not that it would have helped, as I already have every module. Would have been nice to have been able to spend it on the Hawk, as I had planned, but with the delays.... I guess I should have guessed there would be delays. Just now, it seems to be one disappointment after another. Not filling me with confidence.
  24. 92sqn RAF would be just grrrreeeaaaat (cue Tony voice...) :) They had with and without wing fences. I can upload full 3-view paint plan, if required
  25. Fire, whilst your videos are a nice quality and your German is very nice (i.e. no dialects or such and spoken at a very nice pace), I don't think this would be the sort of thing that the OP or Abburo are looking for. Your video comes over more as a detailed review with hints and tips rather than a concise procedural tutorial. Like I said, your example Su-25T video is very watchable, though.
