And you are still having problems with FPS from smoke? They said to have fixed that. Here's something you can try, it's a shot in the dark but it might work. Make a smoke folder in the config folder and add these files to it. The folder I have is ED/config/smoke, but this is 1.2.3, haven't updated yet. Only a10c and su-25 installed. So IDK why you don't have it if you are sure it's not there.

nvidia 660ti and 8 gigs of ram, intel q9650 On further testing of those settings, it seems ground units and airplanes in the air still leave smoke trails, but the FPS hit has decreased.

My best tip for FPS. Open the /config/smoke/ files and set the value of max particles to 0 and max age to 0. The result is a small plume on crash/destruction with only fire thereafter. So no more smokestacks, which are actually really nice looking, but no FPS drop from intense shaders. I am certain the drop is a CPU bottleneck in my case.

Don't bank too far on the run in, or the seeker finds it way off the HUD. Probably best to plan a bank from the close to far target, each being at opposite sides of a 'cone' that you bank across.

Yes, the 2008 redist solved it. Really, make a sticky or something with the necessary packages.

Okay I am using Vista x64 SP2, I did install the redist with the DCS installation, I am pretty sure I have DX9c as I play Half life 2 which uses DX9. I ran DXDIAG and it said I have version 11, but nothing about 9. I will reinstall the redist. Is my post unclear? I've installed DCS WORLD and it is crashing at the loading splash screen.

So far: Bought a10c on STEAM DID NOT LAUNCH WITH X64 OR X86. X86 activated but collapsed after that. GOT DCS WORLD NOW, cannot launch DCS WORLD! It came up to the splash screen and crashed at 10% loading. Running as Admin made no difference. The multiplayed launcher crashed immediately with error code 0xc0150002. This might be windows related. I have some GP settings that are pretty strict, but almost everything I throw at it works. This is the only game so far that has given me problems. Besides the fact I payed 40$ on STEAM for the game when it was 20$ at DCS, I would really like to play it. If anyone can provide assistance, I appreciate it. The installation was successful, so I think it's possible to rule out any file corruption. FWIW, the failed launch did NOT generate a .crash file.
