What do you guys think of this monitor? Id assume my 970 should run it fine, still on the fence about widescreen though. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0JC-000D-003Z3 Seems like a great price for it as well being 45% off at the moment. Maybe would be ok for the OPs system as well?

I never had Janes, I had European Air War. LOVED that game. Even the campaign to me was very well done. You had the BoB, 1943 and end war I believe. Sparked my interest in flight sims and military history.

Headwarp, I'm with you on this buddy. I still am on the fence for about 3 months about what to buy, widescreen, curved, size, 2k, 1080 p, etc. Seems like everyone has their own likes and dislikes, then you have to get into the fact about what video card is good for what also. But I will agree with wormeaten in that it seems like the idea of using a tv isn't the best option at the moment. I haven't tried it personally, just what I have gotten from the months of asking on forums and reading reviews.

Ohh man, am I the only one still flying the X-45. Man I remember when Il-2 first came out and I got this as a gift, good days. I could never get the profile settings down though. Lucky most games have a control options menu :)

Ok thanks for the clarification gentlemen. I'm still at a loss over which monitor I should buy. If I should buy multiple, if my GTX 970 can handle it or should I wait to buy another card first and then go 3 monitors, or if I should stick with one solid monitor or use my tv. Me and my simple meaningless little problems lol

yeah my bad didn't mean to type dual even though I did twice. Was more or less asking one curved was better than three regular, or if a ultra wide was better etc. I am building a new rig and the only thing I need to figure out is the monitor situation. Having only one graphics card makes me lean towards one monitor, but even then don't know which route to go. Curved, ultra wide, or something else.

That BenQ one is amazing!! I'm drooling already lol Anyone have any thoughts on it? What are peoples opinions on the ultra wide montors for DCS and gaming in general?

Anyone have any thoughts on a setup like that? Dual curved monitors or is it better to try and go the regular flat panel three setup? Also if I try for either way dual or three panel, will my system handle it? Or is it going to be too much for one graphics card? intel i7 4790K EVGA GTX 970 8 gb ram

Well, the RAM I have listed I actually already have in this current computer. Since it seems to be compatible with everything in my new build should I stick with it or is the RAM you've shown me better?

Will probably only run one monitor but always like to upgrade any parts eventually if needed, but Im hoping I wont have to do that with this build for a couple years. Think it might be time to start slowly ordering parts....and watching for price deals. I guess the biggest thing now is getting the right GTX 970 card. Thank you. Guess that shows how stupid I am at computers that I almost bought a part I really didn't need. Also I changed video card to MSI GeForce GTX 970 Frozr V video card. Seems to have great reviews as I don't know much about the spec but, Im learning :)

I updated the list and looking at the i5k. Its only $20 more and who knows if I'll ever overclock but that will allow me to do it better I guess from what I read. Isnt DCS world more CPU reliant? Sorry for stupid question but an i7 running at 4.0 GHz isn't better for DCS than an i5 at 3.5? Again sorry Im still learning the computer specs yet. More fans on the video card will be quieter and I assume cooler? Do I still want to go the GTX 970 route? Most likely to run games for a couple years like my last video card? Updated list. Hey everyone I've done some searching with pc parts picker for my first ever full build. I know we don't know the system specs for DCS world Edge or anything but I wanted to build a computer primarily for flight sims and maybe a few titles that might catch my interest in the next few years or so. I don't need to overclock or anything, I'm buying the parts a few at a time every couple weeks at most so I hope to have all the parts ready by end of August or sooner to build. After being on the fence for months about buying F-86 the sale made me get off my butt and try it. Been watching many tutorials on youtube etc and reading the forums but just wondering what everyone else did to get going on this sim. I have a Saitek X-45, any profiles for it? Track IR 5 as well. Having NEVER played DCS online what-so-ever I would also like to try with this sim once I get comfortable with the jet so if there is anyone in the CST zone that would like a newb to tag along with I'd appreciate it. Thanks for any and all advice

Got it to work. After days of searching online and help from you guys I found that I had to delete the input.lua file. game works like a charm again and now in a few days I will get to fly my favorite bird (Sabre). Thanks for everyones help. You guys rock as always.

tried deleting that input folder but that didn't work either. Maybe uninstalling and reinstalling the game? This has me very perplexed.

Also do I delete each aircraft folder after backing them up? or just delete the entire folder?

Tried clearing it and reassigning but no go. Keyboard in game wont work as well. @ TXMTB....how do I backup that directory? ctrl +C? sorry Im computer dumb and not sure if that's what you mean by "backup" :)

No ideas from anyone? Ive been searching around for anything that would work but no luck. Really wanted to get the Sabre too......

Just went back to DCS after a long layaway. Got the new free tf-51 downloaded and went to give it a fly, but my joystick and throttle doesn't work. I immediately remembered that I needed to set up the axis commands in the options menu so restart, go back to the 51 (both easy and real) get the axis and throttle all set, do a test and the stick and throttle register fine in the options menu, start up another quick flight and .....nothing works again. Go back to copy my layout from the F-15C which I used to fly often, nothing works. Go try to fly the F-15C which I hadn't touched the controls inputs to and nothing. What am I forgetting or doing wrong? Totally at a loss here.

*SPOILERS* Im playing the f-15 FC3 campaign and I think its the third mission Im having a bear of a time completing. The one where you fly through the valleys, pop up and shoot down the enemy AWACS. I can get a HOJ fire an AIM-120 at the planes but I seem to never hit one. Also the enemy CAP fires off at me first and I usually am shot down with my wingman and other F-15s that are in support never doing a thing. Even if I send my wingman orders to complete mission and rejoin. What am I doing wrong? Should I even bother flying in the valleys for a hit and run surprise or just try to use my long range 120s from farther out and higher up?

Taking the plunge to buy one after 15 years of flight simming. Which do you guys recommend? Also, besides rudder pedals is there anything I should get for DCS and FC3? System specs and accesories located below.
