Star Trek? Donkey Kong? Good choice of wife man! :) I once had a girlfriend who was a trekkie and we used to lay at the beach and read novels of Captain Kirk's adventures (Dr Mc Coy's my favourite though :)) By the way, nice place you've got there.

Damn! What was that? An ED-209 in your garage? You must be the craziest guy around here! :worthy: You have my respect! And my respect to your ultra-tolerant :worthy:wife! I mean we had to sign a petition to persuade a fellow armchair pilot's wife to let him get a beer fridge... but now this! You're obviously the boss! :D EDIT: Oh OK now that I read the first post more carefully, I see that it's for a recreation room at your shop and not your computer room at home. Still a good idea, although not as radical, ground braking and crazy as what I originally thought! :)

Hi Reato, I mostly play A2G too, in the Su-25. I've got some missions which I sometimes host on HL. Most of them are A2G, but I've also got A2A (in which you actually have a mission to carry out), or mixed. If you see me, or other (armchair) ground pounders on HL you can ask for a host. That's when I get back from vacation of course! :) P.S. Have you tried Black Shark? It's ground pounder's paradise. :D

Note to the developers for the Apache AH-64A module

Playing with a friend in the same helicopter is going to be fun! :) -
Hey I used to play this on my Amiga! Cool game. I wasn't as good as this guy though. :)
-
Ok thanks for the info. I heard that they bought SB Pro as a desktop trainer, so when I came across that video I wondered if SB is also used on the big sim. I wouldn't mind if they'd let me play with the one on the video though. :)

People who have played Steel Beasts, could you tell me if the software used in this simulator is Steel Beasts?
-
Hi Groove! :) Used to play a game with the same name on the Amiga. It wasn't a CD-ROM version, but it was published by Psygnosis, so it's probably the same. Here's a link: http://hol.abime.net/3067/screenshot It was a nice game.

1. Give me the A-7 Corsair II and I'll be happy :) 2. If they're going to do the F-16 I'd prefer the F-16A (with that old cockpit) 3. Any Russian aircraft, because we don't get a chance to "fly" them in sims (I didnt know anything about them until I played Lockon) and because they're great :)

Pool question: aircrafts in the DCS plans !
Spyros replied to HungaroJET's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Can't choose.. I like them all! Hmm any chance I'll play the A-7 Corsair? (I guess not :)) -

JetPilot! That was a great sim, but it wasn't really playable unless you had an analog joystick. Hey, you had an Amiga too? Ok I suspected that! :) Have you still got it? Is there still an Amiga scene in Poland? Poland had lots of users at some point and Elbox who made the Mediator PCI busboard is from Poland. Haha those were the days! -

Hehe. Remember the notorious Lenslok protection on the Speccy? Why not? Are regression to childhood threads that bad? :D -

Ok "At last you can really fly" was a quote from ACE and the callsign Bluebird is from Falcon (and the two expansion disks) by Spectrum Holobyte. Hmm I didn't play any sims in the 90s with a couple of exceptions. I went straight from the 80s to Lockon! :) 3 games with the Mig-21! I want them I need them!:D I only had the 21 as a rival on Falcon 1. Always wanted to "fly" it in a sim. P.S. Wait I remembered one! Dogfight by Microprose, which had a Mig-21 vs Phantom scenario. -

Come on! I'm sure you'll find it! :) It's F-16 Combat Pilot by Digital Integration, so it has to do with the F-16 in deed -

Hehe, no, but it was a very famous sim in the mid 80s.(hint) The quote is from the advertisement and/or the box. (hint 2) The Commodore 64 version had voice! Correct! No, try a late 80s sim No Even though that's not the one I meant, you're right! I had a demo of jet on a Fred fish or 17bit diskette and it too shows the airplane flying under that bridge as far as I can remember. The one I had in mind was Interceptor though. -

F-29 Retaliator? It had one called Zulu alert Flight of the Intruder Ok I have a few quiz questions too (don't worry they're easy). 1. In which flight sim "At last you can really fly"? 2. In which flight sim for the 8-bits you flew a Mosquito? 3. In which flight sim for the 16bits the tower called you bluebird? 4. In which flight sim you had to qualify for the campaign by completing Intercept, Tank buster, Deepstrike and Recon first? 5. Which flight sim had a demo of an F-18 flying under the bridge of San Francisco? -
Crazy designator driving me crazy
Spyros replied to Karagiozi's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Apart from stabilizing you can also change the target size. If I remember correctly, you should set it to 10 for tanks etc, but 5 is better for AAA and generally smaller targets. I tried assigning the designator to the mouse once, but I generally get low FPS so when things where happening it refused to move, which is why I switched back to keys. -
Some info cross posted from the Russian Forums
Spyros replied to GGTharos's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I'd really like the A-7 Corsair and the Mirage 2000. But I think it's better to concentrate on Russian planes, since there are less chances to have them simulated in other games. In contrast, there have been many and there are probably going to be lots of F-18, F-16 etc sims. -
@Laivinas Yes I think it's the flight model that got me addicted to the SU-25.:) Break pulling over max AOA and it rolls. Pull too many Gs and the wings are ripped. You have to trim all the time and be careful, to make it do what you want. It makes flying missions a lot more challenging and harder to accomplish. It'd be great to have AFM for all flyables. So even though both are important, I think FM comes first. Then accurate weapons handling, avionics etc, to make a sim close to perfect. I've heard rumours though that weapons will be harder to operate on the 25, so I'm preparing for an extra treat!:)

Adding a country... encountered a problem!
Spyros replied to Hrvat-Pilot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
@ Designer For quick results, 1. Download a Class ID generator tool from a website 2. Edit meinit.xml to add a country, giving it a CLID and an ID (17 for eg) 3. Assign the weapons-skins you want to the country. 4. Edit countries.xml to add the country, using the CLID defined in meinit.xml, assing ranks and medals defining paths to the images, points required for award etc 5. Make images for pilots, ranks, medals, flag, etc (don't forget alpha channel) and put them in the required directories 6. Extract skins from the CDDS files and edit them, or find templates. For lom models you can add skins by adding entires in the equivalent skins file and using those IDs in meinit.xml For cmd models you'll have to overide and existing skin. 7. If you add your new skins in a CDDS file, add an entry to graphics.cfg, otherwise just put them in temptextures 8. Add an anthem 9. Make a Modman installer. There's a tool called updategfx or smth to avoid overwriting the graphics.cfg, so it's better to use that to update it. That's all as far as I can remember. A better way would be to make a little xml parser if you have time and you're not bored :), which will check how many countries there are in the xml during installation and update the files accordingly, so that you won't have to overwrite meinit.xml etc If you have even more time you can make lom models to replace cmds, so that you can add textures instead of overriding (and everybody will love you :)), or you can do some hex editing on the cmd files....ok I'm shutting up!:D -
Hmm I'm considering new a joystick too. I've got crappy logitech and if I straighten all the curves the game's almost unplayable. Fighters going AOA overlimit with the slightest move of my hand, SU-25 going out of control etc. So, I have added a bit of curve to the pitch and a slight deadzone (but no curve) to the roll, because without it , it tends to roll left even when I'm not holding the stick. With these settings I can pull some Gs instead of going AOA overlimit in the fighters (but not perfect) and the SU-25 is OK, but I'm not sure I haven't lost in realism when flying it. If the X52 is as good as you say, then maybe I'll get that, although I don't like all those fancy little lights etc, as Poko mentioned. :) In contrast, I can get a second hand Cougar very cheap. Which of the two should I get considering that I mainly fly the SU25 and SU25T, but some times I like to fly a fighter for a change? I mean I'm mainly interested in flying the 25 and the controls being as realistic as possible, but also having good controls in fighters. P.S. Hmm maybe I'd get a TrackIr first. Oh please Santa!:D But the Cougar might be sold to someone else, so if it's better for me than the x52, I should hurry.

Adding a country... encountered a problem!
Spyros replied to Hrvat-Pilot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Good to see you worked it out. :) When I added Greece to my Lockon, the Greek flag was already in the game! (but nothing more) Maybe they were planning to add it, but didn't in the end? -
I have the connection speed set to 128/128 as advised by the manual, or the forum, I don't remember. :) I could try 56 in the evening. Background activity is OK I have ADSL 512 downstream 128 upstream This only happens on some servers like RAF and S-77. I've never had this problem on VVS for example. If I enter the game and don't do anything the ping is normal. If I turn my engines on, then the ping problem appears. Some times I can play on the servers mentioned, but provided that there are only a few players connected.
-
Hello, I have a problem when joining some servers. I enter the game and my ping is normal (eg. 145) but as soon as I start my engines it starts increasing, reaching 3000 or more. Is there anyone facing the same problem, or even better is there anyone who has a solution? :) Thanks in advance. P.S. Router and Firewall ports etc are open (I can host games without problems)
-
I have a D-Link too, but it's an older model. Everything is ok with hosting games here. You'll have to do port redirection to your PC's LAN address, open those ports in the router's firewall (if you have it enabled) and if you have a firewall on your PC, you'll have to open the ports there too.
