The positioning of the TIR5 is fine. If the pause mode was enabled, I would have 2 red leds on the sides. If the TIR5 wasn't seeing all of the reflectors, one of the two green LED's would turn off. The dots are centered in the camera. I'm going to see if I can set up windowed mode so I can show trackIR software tracking while BS2 IA mission not tracking. -Damien

I'm not selecting anything other than loading up the game and loading the Instant Action mission. There is an instant action (IA) mission named KA-50 Arcade. It starts outside of the aircraft but if I hit F1, I'm put into the cockpit. The head tracking in this specific IA mission works just fine. -Damien

Number 5 centers the view in game but still no trackIR. Key assignments are changed but working and verified in the TrackIR software. The profile I'm running is set to exclusive. -Damien

Don't mind the shaky video.. I recorded it quick on my phone to show what I'm having a problem with.. The TrackIR is right beside the Vizio logo on the TV. You can see that the green lights are on. At the end I bring the hat with track clip attached forward into camera view to show that it's not moving the on screen view. The Instant Action mission I chose was the Insurgent Attack mission. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7dstXmMFRU -Damien

Yes, In missions that head tracking worked and missions that head tracking did not work, TrackIR showed 2 green lights. -Damien

I apologize, I should have been clearer. Mission loads just fine. Aircraft flies and makes relevant movements based on my controller inputs. TrackIR head tracking inputs in BS2 IA missions (except arcade IA mission) are not working. Aircraft will turn, collective will raise and drop. All other control inputs work just fine. I've verified that other modules IA missions work just fine as well as verifying head tracking in BS2 controls>axis tuning. In IA mission, even by hitting the center (reset) button on the TIR, it does nothing to the in game view in only the BS2 IA missions. -Damien

Since my last reply I've deleted the assignments in controls for all my BS2 TrackIR assignments and reassigned them as defaults. Redownloaded the BS2 module. Uninstalled the module in the module manager. Shut down DCSW, ran a registry cleaner and crap cleaner. Restarted the computer. Reinstalled the module. Ran DCSW again and used the Arcade mode to verify I have movement. Ran the BS2 free flight mission and no head tracking movement. I F2'd out to another view and came back to F1. View changed to almost straight ahead but still no head movement. Also ran the repair utility with no success. -Damien

Confirmed All Instant Action missions for KA-50 2 except the arcade mission do not work. Furthermore, all other missions/campaign work just fine. -Damien

I've verified that the TrackIR works in the other modules instant action missions. The only BS2 Instant Action mission that works is the Arcade mission. Also verified that the Axis tuning sees the TrackIR in the KA-50 Sim controls section. Just noticed that the KA-50-2 upgrade page has been removed. Looks like I cannot redownload the specific module to uninstall and reinstall. -Damien

No clue how to do that stuff... -Damien

Verified before posting the thread.. I had the latest updates of both software and game updates.. Nope.. Pause was not enabled. I had 2 green lights on the TIR. -Damien

Attack Insurgents instant action mission, same problem.. no track IR.. I've verified TrackIR works in software and is recognizing track clip. Attached is the track for the insurgent mission. -Damien notrackir2.trk

Not exactly sure but I've created a track file if that will help.. I'll go try some of the other missions and see if they have the same issue. -Damien notrackir.trk

In instant action, free flight TrackIR is not working. I cannot look around in KA-50 sim mode. I've verified that it works fine in multiplayer and verified that I have assignments for the TrackIR in the controls. Can anyone else verify this as well? Problem has been fixed! See post #35 for the fix. -Damien

DCS CoPilot. New iPhone/iPad app in development
Damien replied to TigersharkBAS's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Any update to this? -Damien -
I guess look at it this way. I am a firefighter. I have a working relationship with my dispatchers but I would not trust a tutorial on advanced fire behaviors, or how to do an emergency tracheotomy on a choking victim (emt), or a felony stop on a wanted fugitive (police). Don't get me wrong, some dispatchers come with some experience as firefighters, EMT's or police officers.. many do not. In this case, the crew chief cannot tell you how to fly a combat mission from real life experience as he is not a pilot.. only a maintainer. I find irony in the fact that someone with one post has garnered more reputation from users here than the active military aviator with hundreds of posts here who dared to question the crew chiefs knowledge in flying the aircraft in combat missions.. I'm done with this pissing match. -Damien

No problem. -Damien

Yes.. Options>controls>A-10C Sim>Axis commands> Click on your rudder axis and click the Axis Trim button at the bottom of the page you're on. Go to the curvature slider and adjust to 20 or so and hit ok.. Fly around a little bit and play around with the curvature number to suit your needs. The Curvature slider will dampen out small changes on the rudder but will give you full deflection of the controls at the extreme ends. Saturation sliders will dampen out the full range of rudder but will not give you full motion of the rudder at the extreme ends. Personally, I use curvature slider. I can make fine adjustments on the rudder with small inputs, but have full rudder range if I ever need it. -Damien

You take a huge hit in frames by using 3 monitors at that resolution. With trackIR, there really is no need for 3 screens. Give 1 a go and see your frames jump up. -Damien

I get what you're saying.. but even with wings level after rolling out of autopilot, I couldn't re-engage. I actually had to switch out of the options on my TM W Throttle and back in order to kick in the A/P again. -Damien

So.. You're a crew chief, huh? A-10C's?.. How much about setting up a bomb run or operating the systems inflight do you know from an aircraft on the ground? I did 8 years as a US Navy Aviation Boatswains Mate Handling. I dealt with all forms of Navy, Marine Corps and Army Aircraft. After my time in the US Navy, I joined the Minnesota Air National Guard and did 4 years as a Firefighter. In my time as a Crash and Rescue firefighter, I learned the ins and outs of many types of Air Force aircraft including the A-10. Certainly makes me no expert on setting up a bombing run midflight. I agree with the fact that you can pretty much tell a pilot he's not going to fly, but you need to add that the only reason a pilot's not going to get to fly is because a careless pilot or crew chief dropped or misplaced a tool, or there was a gripe (writeup) that made the plane unsafe to fly. Don't act like you can tell a pilot that he's not flying just because you woke up with a chip on your shoulder. -Damien

I've had the issue as well at times.. Wasn't sure if the problem was with my joystick or with the game. Glad to see that others seem to be having the problem as well. I've noticed it seems to happen when I am in Autopilot and change the attitude or pitch with the stick, get the "Warning, Autopilot" warning and try to re enter the same setting in autopilot which always seems to fail.. but if I disengage via the button, it'll turn right back on as commanded. -Damien

So.. what you're saying is that his military experience directly contributed to the class? How is this any different than any other youtube tutorial on any of the systems (Besides the fact that he touches the relevant aircraft on a regular basis)? I stayed in a motel 6 last night.. doesn't mean I'm ready to manage a hotel chain. I get what Robert1983NL's saying.. A crew chief only has a basic knowledge of the systems enough to get what he/she needs to get his job done. He has a good knowledge of the mechanics of the aircraft. Beyond that, he's just reading T/O's and the pilot manual like all of us are. He's not going to be intimately familiar with how to set up a bombing run because he's not the one in the cockpit or attended the A-10 pilots qualification school. An electrician is going to have good knowledge of the electronics, but isn't going to know the ins and outs of the avionics. -Damien
