  1. OK, thanks. I will have to read up on that aspect of the sim. john
  2. Programming MFDs in A-10C I got the MFD pack of two, and plugged them in and they are recognized and work fine in the A-10. My question is, can they be programmed within the sim? I have the iPAD app that shows the MFDs and it has the actual screen portion so I am wanting to use that for the MFDs. I would like to reprogram some of the MFD hardware buttons to do other things. When I go into the controller options in the sim, the only buttons I can seem to change are the actual MFD buttons already assigned. As an example if I pick say lower cockpit lights and double click on the MFD1 column nothing happens. It is as if you cannot re-program the MFD buttons to anything other than the actual MFD OBS keys. Am I missing something? Thanks. John
  3. Awesome App I had read through all of this, and decided that even though I have the Cougar MFDs I would try this one out. TrackIR is great but moving heads-down and trying to hold still (without using an IR pause button) to be able to click a button was a pain. Long story short, I downloaded the server and then setup the values, positioned the displays to my second monitor which I was not extending to originally anyway. I fired up the app, and it connected within a couple of seconds. I have an 802.11 n router. The sim automatically adjusted my resolution to now "use" the second monitor although the actual sim only displays on the main one. The switches and dials work pretty well, but my fat fingers make going back twice to get them sometimes needed. I will explore the CDU this weekend. One thing I didn't notice was any audio "click" for the switches. Having HOTAS Warthog, those switches are really easy to hear. Is there any audio on the app? I didn't seem to notice any fps hits on my first couple of flights. I do agree however that the two finger swipe is a bit of a "bother". Now I don't know whether to continue with the MFDs, or just use the app?? Great job and thanks. Oh and for $30, it is really worth it as far as I am concerned. 4. What about the Mimo montior. Are they basically the same thing just a different manufacturer? john
  5. I have Win8 64 bit. Went to the Lilliput site and didn't see any drivers for 64 bit. Before I would pursue this, I want to make sure that Displaylink is the way to make it all work? Thanks. john
  6. Things are progressing very well. I still have the 22" monitor and the MFDs have not yet arrived, but I have the Warthog HOTAS setup, and TrackIR 5. Wow, what a great experience that all is. I have my settings as: Textures, Scenes, Water, Vis Range, Shadows all set to High Civ Traffic, Heat Blur, and HDR are Off MSAA is 8 Cockpit Resolution is 1024 My monitor res is 1280 x 960 (still playing around with that) Clutter is 0 Trees is 6000 Radius is 150000 I am running full screen with TSSAA check on I am getting high 60s in high flight and as much as 48 down low. Smooth as silk as they say. Thanks for all your input. I didn't realize how easy TrackIR would be and how much of a difference it makes. Everything was pretty much plug and play. A couple of tweaks with TrackIR on smoothing and speed, and a couple tweaks on the settings on the stick and that is it. John
  7. It will be primarily for the sim. I don't do any FPS. Other gaming is stuff like the old SimCity, Civ V, and the like. Thanks. John
  8. There are so many out there with different refresh rates, resolutions, etc. The prices have quite a range too. I have never paid that much attention to a monitor before, but since I am going to buy one, I don't want to mess it up. what are the recommendations anyone has? Thanks. john
  9. John; With a Triple Head to Go configuration on the three monitors, what kind of frame rate hit do you take? Just curious. John
  10. OK, I decided to go with a 27" monitor and Track IR. I have a second smaller monitor off to the side that I will setup with the Cougar MFD displays. Hopefully this weekend all the bits will arrive and the fun can begin. Thanks for your replies. I am hoping TrackIR will be all that it is for everyone else, but I wonder a bit. I mean, if you want to look out your left window you turn your head about 90 degrees left. With TrackIR, you still have to be able to look at the screen so I am assuming the "turning" of the head is toned down a bit. John
  11. All; I have been getting prepped to take the plunge with the sim and have gotten a new rig. My question now is around the monitor configuration. I have been reading and digging into different options and wonder what you all that have been down this road think. I think it fair to say that getting good frame rates is the most important thing for me as what good is it to have an A+ cockpit configuration with a fps of 15. Anyway, here is what is on my mind: 1. One large (say 30" or so) monitor and TrackIR 5. 2. Three monitors and no TrackIR. Triple Head to Go vs. two cards? What about the SoftH thing? Sorry, I haven't had the time to dig into that one yet. I think number 1 is probably better on the frame rates, but 2 is more immersive with the peripheral vision thing. My rig is an i7-3770, 3.4GHz. 32MB RAM. NVidia GTX 660 w/3GB. Win8 64 bit. 7400RPM drive. Thrustmaster Warthog stick and throttle on the way:) Any thoughts would be great. Thanks.
  12. Thanks, I will try to find it. I can run two monitors with my new card. Another card for two more and that would probably mean more power and a bigger case maybe to fit the extra card on the board. And then two monitors. Oh well, there is always more someone can add. Thanks for all your responses. John
  13. I was thinking of the first one. I was wondering about that, although it would be very slick to not have to me mousing around. Would also work well with my Win8 system. Thank you for your insight. John
  14. Thanks so much. Any thoughts on a touch screen monitor? Not sure if the resolution would make it really workable? John
  15. I apologize if this has been addressed before, but I just got the following system and was wondering what the thoughts are about it for running the sim: Core i7-3770 NVidia GTX660 3GB DDR5 32GB RAM I think the processor is fine, but I am not sure if the graphics card is "enough". Many thanks. John
  16. Touch Screen I am just getting a new rog that can run this one, and before I complete all the purchases I am wondering about a touch screen. Anyone have one and is it really "worth" it? I hear that they can be problematic and not sure how they work with the pixel size for the buttons on all the displays. Many thanks. John
