  1. Tried opening the bomb training mission, saved, then flew and ejected and yes, kaboom! Seems you were right :)
  2. It happened to me on the bomb training mission. Engine stopped during my aborted dive recovery, about to stall on, ejected, aircraft hits the ground and bounces. But for the life of me I can't make it happen in a custom mission.
  3. You guys rock!
  4. I'm not sure you are, my mega bounce was in the take off instant action. Unless it's mission specific...
  5. Absolutely cracking work! It's a whole different sort of beast to fly, loving every minute :)
  6. Yes, but there is heavy landing and there is gear/spine breaking ploughing it in.... I've certainly had one suspiciously "holy batman" landing, stalling in from several hundred feet, just enough elevator authority to momentarily maintain a sufficiently nose high attitude to stop it being a nosecone first landing, the thing bounces off the nose wheel, rolls from side to side then settles into a perfectly normal landing roll. Whilst I bet it can take more punishment than the F-15, I had to check my difficulty settings to make sure I'd not turned on Game Mode or similar. Either something is a bit amiss or the whole aircraft is made of the same rubber as your average bouncy ball....
  7. Oh, so that's why my engine died whilst doing (attempting....) a stall turn. You learn something new every day ;)
  8. In short, original dev and current team parted ways earlier this year, LN got the code, dev got the cash. The rest you can get from skimming the locked MiG 21 forum so I won't drag old wounds into the open here....
  9. Yes, keys from anywhere work on Standalone, only keys bought on Steam (post the cutoff date, which was a few months back) can be used on steam.
  10. You're at work, the key will probably be there before you get home. Back to work! ;)
  11. Well unless there is someone else that can personally vouch for it working, I'm assuming he's winding you up.... ;)
  12. You do realise there is a new (non-Mig) patch today? That's most likely what they are downloading...
  13. Calm down dear... ;) The module hasn't been released yet, there is still time.
  14. I just do what I do with Steam summer/winter sales, never buy anything prior to the last day of a sale unless it is on a daily deal/flash sale, and even then I won't buy it unless it's at or near the lowest price I expect it to reach in the next 6-12 months. Practically (and based on previous sale patterns), that means for ED I don't buy unless it's at least 60% off. Whilst I have preordered the Mig and will do so for the Hawk, they are both dream aircraft for me, I won't spend more than I absolutely need to in order to get my hands on them. It is simple financial prudence (rather than availability of cash, at least for me) to adjust your shopping habits according to the established sales patterns, whatever the product. Between DCS modules I already own, the ones I will get from the Kickstarter, and my current P3D hangar, I'm not going to run out of things to fly any time soon.
  15. As a twist stick (X52 Pro) owner, I can categorically state that given infinite cash and infinite space, I'd go for pedals in a heartbeat. As it is, space precludes me from having pedals, but quite honestly it's not THAT much of a disadvantage, at least in fixed wing. It's quite manageable and I've never felt that it really held me back, at least no more than any other of our usual sim abstractions.
  16. Usually because you can trade resolution for eye candy without giving up fps. Only worth while when your machine can only just run DCS. The border is almost always caused by mismatched aspect resolutions. Try the following resolutions and see if the problem goes away: 1440 x 810 960 x 540
  17. In which case you are probably looking at an MSI G series or an ASUS RoG, I have an MSI GT70 2PE and I'm very happy with it. Certainly lots of bang for your buck, and the 17 inch screen is plenty big enough.
  18. How much is your budget and where are you? Most of the Alienware, Asus RoG and MSI G Series laptops should be able to run it quite well, but you are talking upwards of $1500 as a starting point.
  19. Says the man with a Piper Cub as an avatar ;)
  20. Not so much pixie dust as a sacrifice to your chosen deity...
  21. Same as any other aircraft. Pinch of pixie dust and biblical quantities of cold hard cash....... :joystick:
  22. My PayPal account is weeping. I, on the other hand, am looking forward to getting my grubby mitts on it on the 18th.... Good times
