Thanks BigNewy. Not sure how to find the file that blocked it. According to my AV software no file was quarantined.

Interestingly I completely uninstalled my ESET security suite and it worked without a hitch. This is the same security software I’ve had for 5 years and never had an issue. I have the eagle dynamics folder excluded already but clearly it still didn’t work. Not sure what to do about that. Gotta be a better solution than uninstalling my security software every time. Grrr. Anyways, thanks for you patience and help guys Jason

No one has any thoughts on where to turn to trouble shoot this? Sadly I’m treading water here. Could it be the new updater which did seem to download when I first tried the update?

I am running into a first time problem when attempting to update. I've tried both the normal way and skatezillas program with the same result. When I go to update (both the stable and beta) i get the prompt for the new version and click okay. It checks for files and then proceeds to download deltas but nothing downloads. I've tried repairing both installs. I've disabled my ESET AV program though eagle dynamics folder is excluded anyway. I am at a complete loss where to turn next. Any help greatly appreciated. they are showing online....just nothing is downloading. I have it set to just do Http method but honestly I've tried both and neither are pulling data

Trying to update the open beta. I've tried both the normal way and using Skates updater. It just tied to download the deltas but isn't downloading anything. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jason

Addendum- did it with Skatezillas program and it worked without a hitch so I’m not sure what was up.

Anyone else running into an issue this moment updating the beta? I hit the update button but it won’t go past the connecting to torrent scrolling bar and never does. I’ve never had this happen before. And I can’t seem to cancel out of it like normal to download via the http method instead. Any thoughts? Or is it possible the torrent is temporarily down? On a side note...last couple of times I’ve updated I’ve had to do it in pieces. I usually update via the http and it will be humming along and then just stop. I have to exit and then resume. I’ve had to do this like 5-6 times before the entire download finally completes and updates. Not the end of the world but if anyone has any thoughts I’d be appreciative. Thanks, Jason

Yes the moon does look full. Does that matter?

I’ve tried all the maps. Think year was set to 2016. I flew over the Persian gulf from Dhubai but still no luck. Repairs didn’t help. I know when I downloaded the update it had to be done in multiple attempts because it kept hanging. I wonder if something didn’t download or got corrupted. Still surprising that repair won’t help it. BigNewy any input here?

Anything I should delete in my DCS folder (not saved games) and then try a repair and cleanup?

Ok...so just tested...even on flat screen I don’t have stars. I must have had an install problem. If repair doesn’t fix it any thoughts?

The lighting is beautiful despite the performance hit. I cannot for the life of me see any stars. I hear people saying how beautiful they are now. I’m in VR with my Reverb. Created a simple mission at midnight, summer and no weather. Not a single star. Moon and lighting looks great. Tried multiple maps. I’ve cranked gamma all the way up, all the way down and everything in between. I’ve turned off super sampling, msaa and all graphical settings. Nothing changes. I’ve done a repair and clean up. I can’t see a single star anywhere. No matter the gamma setting. Even at midnight with zero weather. Deleted fxo and metashaders and did a repair.

Alec, I’ve always had to keep my gamma low otherwise everything has been too bright and blinding. Even at 1 I can’t look directly into the sun and see it. It’s always made me wonder in the past if it was something unique to my system because I always read other people have had theirs up higher. Anyways I’ll play with that a bit. Maybe 21:00 in summer isn’t deep enough into the night yet. I’ll try later. And yes I also wondered about light pollution over the city.

Weird. Tried to make a mission at 21:00 summer clear skies over Dubai. Maybe the city lights were affecting the sky but no I couldn’t see any even in external view sadly

Running a Reverb and have never done much night flying at all. The update greatly improved lighting with the exception of the performance hit. I can’t see any stars though. I generally run gamma at 1 but even increasing it I can’t see any. Moon has good lighting. Any suggestions or am I doing something wrong in settings?

I will try those tune up tips. I have two SSD’s. Interestingly enough, saw a thread on page files...mine was set super low. I changed it to 65534 for each SSD. It was set at 9,000. I have 64 gb of RAM so shouldn’t think it should matter. But after changing the pagefile it didn’t freeze at least on one test run

Just wanted to say thank you for them! They are amazing. Dare I say more in depth than the stock tutorials and missions.

addendum- I disabled the overclock of my GPU at BigNewy's advice a month ago...made no difference

I had this problem a month or two ago and it remarkably went away with no obvious reason or solution as to why. Not sure what caused it to come back. My DCS (beta) runs very smooth with the exception of every couple minutes I get a huge freeze (can last 30-60 seconds) where view is frozen, task manager flashes DCS not responding and if I click on DCS it will say program not responding. If I click wait for program it will eventually return and run smooth again. My Reveb headset will freeze the view and tracking and then steam VR label will pop up saying waiting for DCS. I thought this was a VR problem (with my Reverb headset) but I believe it does this in non-VR as well as I took it for a test drive and it again had long pauses (I am assuming the same issue). I have repaired and done a cleanup on my DCS beta. Reinstalled the latest NVIDIA drivers, reinstalled steamVR beta and WMR for steam beta. I have added Eagle dynamics and steam folders to my ESET virus software exclusions and also disabled antivirus...nothing seems to help. No mods running. Not sure why this problem resolved itself a month back or what re-initiated it. I posted some logs a month back in the VR bugs forum to BigNewy but never heard back. Problem went away so I never followed up. Here are my new logs...posting here as I am not convinced it is VR related anymore. Thanks Jason PS- Any help or guidance greatly appreciated.
