Hi guys, been using SSA beta for ages and wanted to prompt a question. Past month or two I have been tying to track down the cause of very long pauses (nearly 30-60 second freezes) in DCS beta. In between the pauses DCS runs great. When these pauses occur, task manager intermittently shows DCS not responding with little CPU activity. If I wait long enough though DCS will return after quite some time. I thought this was likely a V problem I was having but I recently tested it and it happens when playing on my monitor too. I did notice in task manager though that SSA was using nearly 30% of my CPU and RAM. That doesn't seem correct does it? any help or guidance greatly appreciated. Thanks, jason

Hi guys, was curious if someone could point me to a guide or reference on the VOR and Tacan signals. Thanks find I can tune them fine and then sometimes lose the signal for awhile. I assume it’s terrain related? Though I can sometimes get a good bit and f altitude and still not get it back til closer. Also what are the distance limitations in grabbing a signal? Any input is appreciated. Thanks, Jason

I can’t say enough good things about these guys and the program they run. The time I spent with the instructors was some of my best ever in DCS. I do think you guys (Radial, Blacley) are wise to get up to speed with SRS, discord, the mods, some multiplayer familiarity (I had none) etc prior to joining. I know a big mistake I made was joining and then trying to get all that stuff figured out (along with my Reverb HMD breaking and putting me out of commission for 10 days). I ran out of time to train and missed the 21 day deadline for my first solo and got booted. Really regretting it and now just waiting and hoping I can get readmitted. Take home message is these guys are amazing though and I for the first time in 7-8 years of DCS actually felt like I was learning and not just playing and winging it. Cheers, Jason

What’s the reason behind the CC variant not having TACAN by design? To me that seems counterintuitive by the aircraft designers but perhaps I’m not considering something obvious

I guess I’ll saved it under wherever Kneeboard builder custom kneeboard default saves to. Is there a way to see where that defaults to or switch it to save under saved games if it defaults to the main game directory?

Ah I see. So if I tune my Nav radio to a VORTAc frequency it will work?

Hi guys, I am having trouble understanding if I should be receiving DME information when I have my VOR tuned to a VOR station with DME. I get the appropriate directional info but no range information. I’ve searched the forums here but can’t seem to understand the answer and most information seems to apply to the CC Any help or guidance is appreciated. Cheers, Jason

Hi guys, looking for some guidance. I have created a custom kneeboard for the C-101. It works fine but I cannot for the life of me get it to save kneeboard shortcuts form one flight to the next. They save and work fine when within a flight but as soon as I starrt a new mission they are gone. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jason

Hi guys, quick question...I somehow messed up the presentation of my Viacom profile commands. Everything was initially split into nice clean categories with borders making the creating of new voice commands nice a easy. Somehow I changed how the orders are listed and now they present as one big mess. Yes I can still sort by category of command but the borders and clean look are gone making it a mess. Any thoughts on how to get it back to its original separation/organization? Thanks, jason

so it actually seems like my DCS isn't crashing but intermittently going through exceedingly long pauses/freezes. It will be butter smooth and then randomly my VR cockpit view freezes, I get the STEAM VR "waiting fo DCS prompt and that cam last 45-60 seconds, maybe more. Task manager would intermittently show DCS not responding during this with very little CPU or GPU activity shown. I had assumed it was crashed and would back out with Cntr Alt Delete. Actually though, if I sit tight for exceedingly long wait times, DCS will come back and run butter smooth til it randomly does it again. I have attached my last two logs if anyone can help point me in the right direction. I guess what I am asking is what logs and where to post as I’ve never needed to before

Recently updated to the latest beta DCS. Latest steam VR beta and WMR beta. Latest windows. My flights start fine and then suddenly DCS and/or my VR locks up and freezes. Happening in the C-101 at Mozdok on a custom free flight mission. Only other new thing is I installed latest SRS but this is happening flying offline. If anyone can help get me pointed in the right direction of how to track this down I’d be grateful. Thanks, Jason

Ah. So in reality if flying with SRS and multiplayer then the need for much of Viacom is lessened I guess. Then I’m just looking to really use my voice attack voice commands (not related to Viacom). I still haven’t figured out the best way to setup my PTT in voice attack and SRS when used together. Addendum- I did figure out that if I start Voice attack after DCS and SRS are already up and running then it worked and I didn’t lose voice commands. But even when I pressed a PTT TXT button on an open unused radio slot in the C-101 it was still firing up the radio in SRS but I guess that more likely ties into me not having it ideally configured yet

Addendum- I even uninstalled SRS just to see if that would help but no joy

Hollywood, or anyone that may be able to help.... Just ran into a problem with voice attack and Viacom Pro where when I am in cockpit I cannot execute any voice commands. When I press one of the PTT TXT buttons it quickly fires on says listening, then quickly lists some mission info in the voice attack screen and immediately stops listening. So no command can ever be passed on to DCS. It doesn't do this while in the main DCS menus or window though. For example I can execute my order to recenter view normally. Only change is I recently installed LotATC and SRS. Though neither is running. I did press the option in the Viacom options menu for SRS to see what would change but then unchecked it. Did I somehow screw up my configuration? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jason PS- It would suck to lose the countless hours of voice commands I've programmed in for each module

Or how to track down crashes/interpret logs? My beta even crashes and freezes when exiting program

Ugh, logging out crashes my DCS. My DCS has been acting up, freezing and crashing so much lately. Tried a repair with no luck. Can someone point to a post that showed how to do a complete cleanup and repair/reset of DCS that I saw once? Thanks Jason

Updated my beta. Went into module manager and purchased the JF-17 along with another campaign. Now when I start the beta back up, my module manager spins and spins endlessly as if trying to log in and never does. The JF-17 is Gretel out in the bottom of the main menu. Any thoughts?
