Some of them think ww2 is going to be a study sim for prop planes. Sweet!

Jet jockeys in a prop plane. Hmm, that'll be fun. No radar, missiles, clueless about energy management, very limited ammo loadouts, less than 10 buttons to push on the Hotas. Can't see it myself but I'll gladly shoot them down...

Three American, Three German, One British aircraft...
Altflieger replied to Avimimus's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Does anyone watch the vids? Hello anyone there? -
Found this site: http://www.dday04.com/index.php Although pictures are fairly recent they are taken from the air, might help with colours and the feel of your map. Some of those bomb craters are still there.

Apologies, I didn't notice the 'do I get all planes rrg ever makes'. It's a NO to that one, as if!

1. All of them but not until game release in September 2014. 2. September 2014. 3. We don't get a flyable 262 but as a backer you still get the other 5 at $40. 4. Ilya starts selling hot dogs for a living. Seriously theres too much riding on this for it to fail. The reason he's doing it this way is to get the time and space and money to develop a finished game without interferance from financial backers who previously called the shots. A game will be released whether we back it or not, with the 3 planes and a map, which alone would have to be good enough to gain interest. We are also promised aircraft as good as the p51 so what's not to like. The release of the map sdk should speed up the arrival of different/bigger arenas to fly in. 5. Paypal should be up later today. Ilya is on the west coast usa, so still in bed :) but later today the option should appear on the kickstarter page. Only 30k to go as I write. Hope you join us.

Ilya, Yes to one flyable upon release but let the prospective player choose which one. A sptfire nut offered a p47 or 109 will not be a happy bunny and may decide to give it all a miss over just that. This kick starter seems done, there are various reasons but the main one is that you do not have anything to show at this point and the map size is a point of contention for me (flying at 500kph across 160km about 19mins, ok, but...) Multiplayer? Map SDK? etc. I'm sure these will get dealt at some point. So you may wish to consider starting another kickstarter as and when something substantial is available to show. Have regular updates to show us what you're up to ( I know you intend somesuch already ). But heres the twist plug the kickstarter heavily with each update. Have ONE or maybe TWO options to it. Logo should be BE A BACKER, GET ALL PLANES FLYABLE ON RELEASE FOR '60?' DOLLARS as the main option and perhaps include Alpha access with it, some will not take up he latter, too busy or whatever. The other one could be your signed underwear or whatever extras you wish to add as an inducement at say $100ish? Thirdly make it ubundantly clear with each update, writ large! that theyre will only be one flyable at release but that if you back up till say alpha release you'll get THREE flyables for say $40? This will extend fundraising for a longer period (November/January?) and pull in the fence sitters as they can see progress demonstrated through the updates combined with 'If I don't back now I'll lose out on release'. By Alpha of course there will be a much bigger buzz. Also gives you 6 months to spam all the relevent forums and gaming periodicals. Will also allow you to build the 262 cockpit as we'd easily get the oustanding dollars to make the 150k I'd have thought. May even by Feb '14 get 250k plus. Early resolution to what is to be done about those of us who wish to try the 190d before release, i.e. buy in Feb 14 even though we'd get it upon ww2 release as a backer, same with P51, would be good. T shirts whatever are merchandise and should be sold seperately even after game release and will generate some revenue. Produce fan designs? Do more merchandise? Hope it turns out well, but please don't lumber us with Steam a week before release! S!

Crump does have a 190 to play with so he could be of use in this, ahem, discussion. DGC, I'm with you. Anyone have a reference to any luftwaffe pilot complaining about the revi bring blocked by a bar? If there was a problem wouldn't they just have mounted the gunsight half inch higher? Max Gunz should be in on this as well. -

I'm hoping Gaston arrives and we can elevate the debate. FW190 as a turn fighter.... second thoughts...perhaps not. -

Crashland a lot in the 109? -

Those 50's cals could destroy a Tiger, but only if bounced off grass into the soft underbelly IIRC. As if the Germans would permit a bar to obscure the gunsight lol! -

Discussion of 100/150 grade fuel here: http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/150grade/150-grade-fuel.html Basically the advantages were slightly faster speed in P51B of about 12mph and improved climb rate of 600ft/min. It wasn't used until late '44, in December. It's disadvatages were spark plug fouling and a 50% decrease in engine lifespan. To resolve that problem, an additive was incorporated but after 1 month it was discovered all aircraft using it were suffering from damage to valves. The US airforce reverted to 100/130 fuel from Feb '45. Other things you may wish to consider are increased fuel consumption at higher boost (not a problem on the postage stamp we'll be flying over though), thus less range. Also, and I don't know if this can be modelled, but the increase in the amount of time aircraft spent being maintained on the ground as opposed to being in the air, factors which heavily influenced the reversion to 100/130. Still keep whining for it! Suggest you do some reading on the 109k, it outclimbs a mustang by a 1000ft a min, if we get the lightweight K4, the G10, then mustang fans should start to worry moreso if numbers are not 10 to 1 against for the 109's but evens! See you in the skies.

I'm sure the aircraft will be fine. It's Edge that bothers me, we have no idea of it's capabilities. One small map? If we get a map sdk it could be good, otherwise are we looking at little maps released every 1 or 2 years?
-
Almazi, not sure you understand. B17 flies 10 hours, has range 3200 km with bombload. London to Moscow 2500 km. How big should the map be? We know a big map is lot of work. Is it possible? Can maps be expanded after they are finished? Some answers would be nice. No jokes please.

The clue's in the title surely. DCS WWII: Europe 1944 with Europe being the most important bit. Ilya we're going to need a much bigger map very quickly. Make the planes, people will buy them. The biggest selling point for the project will be the ambition cleary stated to create a map big enough for a B17. All of northern Europe. But we do not know if a) this is technically possible b) if it is, could the map be grown and terrain extended by updates? If yes to that, then begin by populating the big map with stuff visible from 20 000ft, landmarks for navigation and targets. Details restricted to airfields and possibly targets initially. Could a map SDK be released so that the community could help? (some people like that kind of thing!) Basically until you or someone else explains just what Edge is capable of then asking us is pointless. However you see this sim developing the elephant in the room is a map big enough for an aeroplane that can stay airborne for 9hrs and go to Berlin and return to base in England. Be ambitious, think big. Short term go with Southern England and airfields then extend Normandy east along the coast of France into Belgium then Holland then Germany and then south into the Ruhr and keep going it'll be an awsome prospect for us the punters. Tell us how it can be done. Give us a time line, a roadmap even. The bigger the map the more scenarios become possible, more aircraft needed etc,. Night bombing over Germany? Has anyone ever done it in a sim?
