No there's no FF. But they are working on a FF stick. Don't expect it too soon though. @maestro101: Большое спасибо ;) It's great to read the pedals have a solid reputation too. It seems ВКБ has great production values and that's why I was wondering about the full metal stick.

Those guys are trying to do something pretty much insane: I can only have gigantic doubts about the project. (but let ED use those eBee drones ;) )

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro profile and reference pictures for Flaming Cliffs 3, Su-27. Before buying a real HOTAS, I'm using that very decent joystick to learn how to fly with FC3. It's not a complete profile. I'm still editing it but it could give a few ideas if you like it. The main 'feature' is the use of the 6 side buttons as modifiers. It's like constantly switching modes on the fly but it needs a bit of training to keep it natural and smooth as you have to memorize the different modes to avoid any unfortunate action. I tried to keep a logical and intuitive setup with similar actions linked to the same buttons/sides. About 8 modes are already configured. Check the pictures for more informations (more pictures in the profile archive). I created the pictures for a 8 inches (1024x768 screen) Android tablet, to display them during the flight. I also use a programmable keypad and some functions are configured on that device and not on the stick. There's no communications functions/quick button implemented yet (I have to figure out what comms macros I'll use on the keypad first). I've tested some combinations like flying in a combat, switching modes (BVR/WVR, EOS/RDR, lock/unlock tgt, …), keeping a close HUD snap view for a cannon precision attack, or even strafing, and it's pretty efficient. It's still a work in progress though. Any suggestion, critic, opinion are welcome :smilewink: --------------------------------------------------------------- [ UPDATE ] I've fixed a few things and added some functions. >> NAV: - Autopilot is now on the trigger - Autopilot 'transition to level flight' added (panic button) >> DEFENSE: - SPO mode and signals volume adjustment added >> NORM: - I tried to assign the Target Designator centering function to the hat angles but it doesn't work  (same with the keyboard binding) >> MODES: - moved Vertical Scan and BVR to the hat (switched with reticle and longitudinal missile) And I updated the pictures and the config file accordingly. --------------------------------------------------------------- X3Dpro_DCS_Su-27.rar

The VKB Black Mamba is going to be available in Q2 2014. >>> more info here <<< It seems to be a very precise stick with a metal gimbal and a plastic stick which you can change for the TM Warthog or Cougar stick. >>> example <<< Unfortunately, I didn't find any recent news about the metal stick they will probably produce.

2.95kg $199 Saitek X-55 6.5kg $420 Thrustmaster Warthog (or for a few dollars more) X-55 ≃ $0.067 per gram Warthog ≃ $0.064 per gram Pretty consistent :D (even if it's not the WT original retail price)

Su-27 instruments functions (?)
Bourrinopathe replied to Bourrinopathe's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Thanks for all those very useful and instructive details! For example, it's interesting to know the canopy has a limited capacity of actuations. It's a decent and very logical choice (saves space/weight/…) as the aircraft maintenance routine should be accomplished after each flight. I'd be curious to know about the design choices for the occidental aircrafts canopy actuation - but that's not the topic :smilewink: (it would derail too much). One thing is very wrong about the picture I linked: the brakes pressures are graduated from 0 to 20 with a x100 multiplier. 2000 kg/cm² (max) would be a tremendous pressure. The multiplier should be x10: The FC3 gauges are different and each of them go from 0 to 3 with a x100 multiplier. There are some details you probably already know about the hydraulic system in the russian Su-27SK manual I linked. (although I didn't have the time to study it, yet) I also noticed an error in the FC3 manual: (interstage turbine temperature indicator) The temp seems to be around 880°c and the small inner gauge shows something like 33°c. It's not that important as it's pretty obvious but it may confuse some people at first. Also, the afterburner is initiated above 720°c (it may help noticing the full military power limit for anyone who does not have a HOTAS w/ an afterburner detent). One other thing bothers me: the FC3 tachometer goes up to 110%, but even on full afterburner, it barely reaches something like 101%. Is that a normal behavior? -

Perfectly right. Modifying the background sound level too much is like hearing someone messing up with the volume slider. As the voice goes for 30s and the background goes for 30s there shouldn't be any noticeable volume variations. I'll take an example full of excellent mixing and composition techniques. It's a very different theme and way longer but you'll notice the sound mixing approach with sound effects, music and voice over. >>> It's also very dynamic <<< -

I tend to prefer the version 1. The voice and the tone seems to have more energy (less generic) but the second version has a better sound mixing (it may be the mic), much clearer on top of the sound effects and music. In my opinion, both voice over lack a bit of energy, mostly because the 'Invincible' soundtrack and the dynamic cuts from the vid have a stronger energy. The contrast is very noticeable. Another thing for the version 1 and 2: when it says: 'Feel the speed', it's synchronized on top of the Ka-50 cockpit view, and a F-15 missile launch. I know it's very difficult to stick to the content if it wasn't precisely storyboarded but it feels a bit weird (to me at least). And in the first version 'Feel the speed…' let us wait for the 'Feel the rush' but the duration between the two is a bit long. Of course those are just my personal opinions from a critical point of view. I just hope it could help improving the video, if you think my points are relevant. Nice work anyway. DCS is a great piece of work and it deserves the best. [EDIT]: and that F-15 AFM definitely looks super sexy! -

Thanks for the confirmation and details. (I'm still studying the docs when I can afford some time) Another thing I was wondering about as I was reading the taxiing and takeoff procedures: - there are two engine modes, one for combat training and one for combat. I found the commutator/switch with the documents, next to a gauge I was also curious about. Here's a screenshot: 1. is the engines mode selector for 'combat training' mode and 'combat' mode (switched to 'combat' in FC3) Apparently the 'combat training' mode reduces the engine performance on full military power and afterburner (gas temperature reduced by 60°c and rpm reduced by 2,5% - I'm not 100% sure about my translation). The FC3 cockpit miss the markings: РЕЖИМ ДВИГ (engines mode), УЧЕБНО-БОЕВОЙ (combat training) and БОЕВОЙ (combat). I assume the engines mode selector aims at preserving the engines lifespan? 2. is the oxygen gauge (it's roughly the quantity left) (mixed with the air flow below 8000 m altitude, and pure oxygen above 8000 m). (Кислород = oxygen) (the FC3 pilot must have some great apnea skills ;) ) -

Please could anyone confirm that: 1]. the СДУ warning light (just on the lower right of the HUD) signals a СДУ-27 failure? From what I've gathered, the СДУ (SDU) is the Flight Control System (FCS) for the Su-27 (>>> SDU-10MK installed on the Su-30MK <<<)? 2]. And, by the way, is it possible that there's no information about the warning lights panel for the Su-27 in the FC3 flight manual? I didn't find anything? I found the СДУ-27 information in the very old Flanker manual: >>> here <<<. And other details in the Su-27 manuals from this thread. 3]. The related СAУ (SAU) would be the Automatic Control System, mainly operating the Autopilot? (I fly the Su-27 with the russian audio warnings, thus that would explain why I'm lost with the warning lights without any reference) (as a funny side note, I was gently pushing the Su-27 against a hangar door before going full AB to test the fuel consumption :music_whistling: Please don't do this at home, you may break your СДУ (I was waiting for the radar/pitot tube failure) - ongoing hardcore tests :D) -
Thanks a lot for your work. Both of you. For those (like me) who are not familiar with the METAR: feel free to check Wikipedia. I already used the informations from the wiki, and a visual reference helped a lot while creating my first training mission. And I really didn't want to test the mission for each clouds density value. A fog visual reference could be a nice addition to the wiki. I'll try to take some screenshots during my tests.

Hi, I was trying the Su-33 and I noticed a few minor mistakes/inconsistencies with the cockpit textures. It's mainly with the instruments reflections (e.g. a front dash is visible in the ADI reflection, the numbered buttons from the right console are visible (non-mirrored) in the fuel gauge, we can read "GUN" in the weapons panel (russian cockpit), etc.). Nothing really important, but I admit it's "distracting" when I zoom in to check the instruments. I didn't find any modified texture around and I was hoping for a user fix somewhere. I know it's Ricardo's work and I really enjoy the fine details he put in that really nice cockpit. I'm just surprised it has not been fixed for the FC3 release. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (And sorry if you didn't noticed those things  my bad) (otherwise, I'll just wait for the 3D 6DOF cockpit) Thanks!

Thanks Esac_mirmidon ;) >>> Here's an additional and quick description for a few buttons on the stick (from a Su-27 pilot). <<< (Must-see documentary film) -
I'm not sure I understand your problem, but if you have the yellow cross visible and you can click the buttons, just double-click on the scroll wheel to switch to the free head movement (the yellow cross will disappear). And if you really like the sim, I highly recommend a Track IR or a Freetrack (within FaceTrackNoIR) to control the head movements in the cockpits. It feels very natural. (I made my own IR 3 points emitter (used with FaceTrackNoIR/Freetrack) for less than $10 and it's very efficient - I can't think flying without it ;) )

I have no idea about the validation for an old technology called 'CD' but you should contact Eagle Dynamics support. If you've bought FC3 from them, you should be allowed to ask for a serial and activate your FC3 with that. Check: digitalcombatsimulator.com > Person Section > My orders (I still have my FC1.1b in there) Just a guess though. And ditch that obsolete 'CD' tech ;)

@wasserfall: Impressive work! It's a really neat pit you've crafted. I wish you the best for the next steps! It's a delight to see such great productions around, like this pit and the exceptional manual Esac edited. I was struggling translating some russian documents and as it's not a familiar language to me, I know how hard it could be. Kudos to Esac ;) And thanks for sharing! And thanks for the precisions about the cabin altimeter too. And the intake ramp ;) (I have much to learn!) -

Great commercial! Congratulations Glowing Amraam & ED! You managed to put every sexy pit and DCS/FC aircrafts within a dynamic structure. Not an easy task in such a short duration! (and Invincible is a popular and widely appreciated track + it fits very well - wise choice) I assume you removed the mirrors on purpose, maybe to keep the best rendering details (excluding the non-antialiased rendering)? That should attract more people to this amazing sim. [EDIT]: I loved the supershort sequence with the camera just between the Su-27's engines, chasing the F/A-18. If I didn't own the whole thing, I would insta-buy everything. -
Voted. Let's hope for a decent quality product ;)

Thanks a lot, Esac_mirmidon! That manual is of tremendous help. So much details with photos, schematics and even videos will provide an excellent knowledge base. And it will be easier to translate, indeed (I'm a french native speaker). And, yes, Alfa, thanks for the correction and details. I was confused about that wedge indicator. At first I translated it from 'КЛИН' (klyn) from a screenshot I took, then did some research but I didn't find anything, except some photos. I've only found that 'panely' label on that drawing from the manual I linked. I couldn't find it anywhere else, even if I searched for some similar indicator in different aircrafts (MiG-29, Mig-31), but they're identical (klyn). The following intake schematic confirms the wedge is linked to a motion sensor (ДП-111Е) described > here <. Of course I tried to test it in FC3 but it's not simulated (yet?). :smilewink: Another instrument I was unable to find, even in the excellent manual provided by Esac_mirmidon (or I missed it), is that one (next to the SPO-15 "Beryoza"): another similar gauge I found: Maybe because it's a common instrument? It should measure the cabin pressure differential (перепад давлен) (from -0.04 to +0.6 kg/cm²) and report the elevation (высота) (from 0 to 20 kilometres). (with 1 kg/cm² ~= 1 bar ~= 14 psi) (I assume the pressure differential value should increase at high altitudes and probably never decrease significantly in relation to the structural strength of the cabin?) (not simulated in FC3) (yet? :music_whistling:) Anyway, all those informations are very interesting and learning about the Su-27 systems is a real pleasure, thanks to Eagle Dynamics precision and cockpit fidelity. Thanks again for your help guys! Very much appreciated! I'll try to report back if I happen to find/learn something valuable/interesting (or probably with more questions). And I hope that will be useful to other simmers. -
Hi, As I'm currently learning how to fly the Su-27, I became more curious about the instruments. Some of them are not described in the manual, even if they are on the front console and then probably quite important. I know it's not a DCS level simulation and I don't expect a high level of detail, but I was scratching my head, thinking about those little things under my nose. And I finally found a few things. Like these little gauges I was wondering about: (I annotated the image in green) I guess that indicator is for the intake mesh panels position? Could anyone confirm? I searched for some clues in the forum first, tried to download the FC3 russian manual, and finally dug the internet with a translator and a cyrillic-latin transliteration tool. I also wanted to know the russian name for the instruments. Anyway, I found this interesting document about the Su-27 systems. >>> Download page with a tiny preview (russian .doc w/ pictures/schematics) <<< (it's ugly at first but very informative) I was also reading the Su-27SK 'Flight Manual' (with an ugly automated translation) and it shades some light on things like these (not familiar to me): It's probably familiar to most of you, but if you have any information, link, post, about the main instruments for the Su-27, please feel free to share your findings. And sorry if there's already something about the flanker's instruments somewhere in the forum. I just couldn't find any answer. Cheers.

Neutral?? I selected 'I approve' and dropped a line in 'comments' to let you know I was grateful. How could that be 'neutral'? :smilewink: 'I, Bourrinopathe, hereby declare that eXPeRT's post was superuseful and saved half of my ass. So I'm supergrateful for his wise suggestion. Please take that +rep :) ' And I still wish to upload a drink to c0ff. @Mojeaux: Do you mean the flushing DNS command didn't succeed because it warns that DCS_updater.exe is used by another program?
