Squid509, how do I determine if the course line in on the desired runway heading? In other words, when the turn the course line, within the TACAN, how will I know what heading? Right now, the only way I can get the course line is if I fly directly over the targeted runway and then plot the course line. Note: when I turn the course line, is there a corresponding heading number anywhere?

Does the F18C have a guidance system similar to an ILS' localizer? It is so difficult for me to find the runway or even the airport. I make the two 180 degree turns, coming out of the downwind 180 turn to final I seem to never come out to or near the target runway heading. Same result when I make the two180 degree turns at a 30 degree bank.

I am trying to learn the start-up procedure on the F18. At two different airports (Cold & Dark), when I get to Oxy and Radar to Opr, the screen, taking about seven seconds, slowly fades to black. At that point, I have no other option but to close and restart the mission. This has happen 4 times and I have yet to go beyond that point. Any suggestions.

How do I remove the pilot from the cockpit?

Thanks Guys Everything has worked out. I am now downloading the F18 module and will soon be ready to fly the F/A 18C jet in the Persian Gulf. Please forgive my sentimentality, but I am an old southerner for New Orleans, living in the mountains of Colorado. And the first time I had ever experience equality was as a veteran of the Vietnam War--we were truly brothers. Today, I feel that same type of comradery among you guys. Let me say Thank You my brothers and sisters.

It tried to install After going to the DOS prompt, I went all the way to the bin file and typed in DCS_updater.exe install FA-18C. This time it actually went looking for the file. But, unfortunately it came back with "unknown module FA-18C" I copied this, via copy command, from The Walrus' post. The command is correct because it attempted to go in and look for the download file. Bradleyjs maybe the alphabetical syntax of FA-18C is not quite correct. Any suggestions?

Module Install That's what I have been using, the Install Module inside the DCS program. When I click install, after about 3 seconds, it goes back to the desktop every time. It is for that reason I seek the command line option, just as I had to do with the Persian Gulf install.

Updated I am updated to 2.5.2.17559. I have no problem updating DCS. Again, is there a command line, like I did for Persian Gulf and updating, that I can type in, at the DOS Prompt, that would let me download the F18 module? Thank you guys, in advance, for your help.

Still can not download F18 I still have not been able to download the F/A-18. Is there a way, as of yet, to install F18 module via the command prompt? Trying to install via the in game Install module has been a no go for me, even after 2 days of trying. The correct line is dcs_updater.exe install PERSIANGULF_TERRAIN. Whenever I copied your line Coug4r, with a copy command, and placed it directly into the command prompt, I got errors each time because of the " --apply which was included in your post. Coug4r, thanks for your help; I am presently downloading.

Download Problem Whenever I try to download the Persian Gulf map it goes directly to Desktop. Moreover, I use the module manager all of seven times and I always get the same results--after about 3 seconds, it goes right back to desktop. Is there another way to download this module?

Hello fellow simmers. I would like to know if F/A-18 missions will ever include us flying as wingman rather than lead, especially during training? And, will we be able to create a mission (2,3,or 4 man Flight) with ourselves as either wingman 2, wingman 3 or wingman 4? In case neither of the above is a possibility, could someone lead me to a site where I can learn, from scratch, about joining a squadron and the hardware and software needed for this?

Dear Mr. Art-J and Mr. Diemos, it would be far more polite for you to just pass up such a post rather than, without conscious intent, discouraging any of our many contributors on this site. There are just as many English speaker as non proficient English speakers on this site who do not such a good job with their grammar and spelling. We always manage to figure out just what they are saying; and if we don't, we shoot them a post saying, could you further explain. As a Viet Nam vet who lived in Italy, I found that Americans are the only persons who lived in Italy, and called the Italians Foreigners. Ain't that a Bit$#?

It is a bit lonely to takeoff or land at an airport and nothing is there or nothing is moving. Or, maybe that state of affairs would slow down the frame rate. For those with a large enough video cards and processors, maybe we can have all airports in full operation. You think that is something ED would consider. Please don't get upset, I know there are more important things to consider, it is just an idea.

Hello brothers and sisters. If I recall correctly, a few years ago someone ask how to get the Russian aircraft to display English on the HUD and display screens as well as speaking English on the voice overs. I just got really interested in the SU33, its flight model, it grace and beautiful. Being an old Viet Nam Vet, it was always hard for me to fly any aircraft but a US aircraft. However, I have gotten over that. I will now fly the SU33 or SU27 until the F/A 18 come out. Again, can someone help me in converting the Russian Aircraft voice and display to English?

Frustrated At this point, I am thoroughly frustrated. Somehow I know, though not completely, that I may have done something or not done something to contribute to my problem. Nevertheless, the problem prevails. Could someone help me in contacting the DCS tech desk, if there is one, so that someone/anyone can walk me through a fix. This is now the second week I am unable to use either DCS A10C or FC3. I have already pre-paid for the F/A 18; how will it be affected by my present problem. Again, could someone tell me how to contact the DCS Tech to help me figure out why it says that my "serial numbers are already bound to a different acct. and what to do about it?"

Bound to a different account Hey Bignewy, this may help; I am also told that both A10C and FC3 are "already bound to a different account." How can I find out which account they are bound to? I don't think I have two accounts, but maybe I do.
