  1. Your main skill seems to be word jousting, just without the part where you spell words correctly. You have not provided a single ounce of evidence yourself, yet you are quite busy calling people out on evidence they supposedly haven't given you. Your argument so far has been based solely on broad statements based on nothing or inferences made by the most vague implications. For example, you stated that the Americans turning down the Russians for a F-22 vs X Russian plane duel was somehow proof of Russian performance. That is quite possibly the most inane argument I have ever heard regarding a aircraft.
  2. OH NO! I had to click some switches and start the engine and electronics..............fun, but It doesn't require skill, unless you cant read. That is equivalent to saying that since I don't have to turn the keys in a racing game like assetto corsa, that the game therefore is simple. sure, a F-16 has alot more to its start-up, but its nothing more than pushing the right switches in the right order....doesn't that make you feel special? You can follow instructions!
  3. That page is twisting the truth so hard it is almost palpable. We have no idea what situation was at the start of the fight, we don't know how heavily loaded the F-22 or the Rafale was. We dont know how skilled each pilot was etc. The Rafale Eurofighter and F-22 are all excellent dogfighters. Just because we lost one doesn't mean anything-there has never been a fully invincible
  4. I agree completely. I enjoy both the "simple" FC3 and the Grognardian A-10C and P-51. Pushing buttons and doing procedures is immensely entertaining and educational, but there is plenty going on in FC3. Even without all the buttons, there is a complex enough BVR environment to have fun with. And TBH, alot of the "procedures/buttons" have nothing to do with your ability to take down another aircraft if were speaking about the modern ships. I'd certainly be down for a fully-clickable F-15, but I dont think that without that I'd call it "simple." Furthermore, I'd like to know exactly what FC3 is being compared to. All the aircraft in game that are on the Max level are mud-movers/helos/or prop fighters. So if you want to do Fighters you only have FC3.....perhaps I just dont enjoy doing ground attack as much as I do Air-Air? I supposed you could compare it to Falcon BMS, but none of the button clicking going on in that game is pertinent to succeeding in BVR or WVR combat.
  5. So I don't think you quite understand yet. Don't worry though, we'll fix that. You asserted that the ability of the F-22 to assert air dominance was not a sure thing. You then also asserted that it most definitely would not have dominance. This is contradictory. You cannot on on hand insist that the issue is moot, and simultaneously pontificate that it is certainly not on favor of the raptor.
  6. Ah yes. You did an excellent job here of positing how all of the F-22's advantages are based on assumptions because of unknown variables, and then used all of these unknowns to make your own absolute statement: " Fact is, war is messy, unless US battles Afghanistan, Libya there is no way F22 will rule the skies against a real opponent who unites against the threat.. that is just reality.. " I congratulate you on your logical consistency:lol:
  7. To be entirely honest, you can land the thing at full power or next to none, it really doesn't matter. What really matters is that you have a steady hand and throttle. Don't got making 100 throttle changes a second as the torque will throw you all over the place. Just get in line with the runway at a reasonable and constant throttle setting. This can even be 3000rpms.....just make sure your power is constant as you touch down and apply flaps as necessary.
  8. Its on the roadmap.
  9. This thread wins the award for most gifs.
  10. upon further examination, I believe the blueish hue is coming from the reflection of the sky. Anyone know of a way to turn this down?
  11. thats kinda what im looking for. I have a GTX 680. What I really want is to make it look like the greys in the kickstarter screenshots.
  12. Im not sure it all looks kind blue tinted. Only some things though. The F-15s greys, and any steel on the 51s
  13. http://imgur.com/NiHBWwc So is there any way to actually make the textures in this game display a steel tone? everything looks blue or white. Are these images of edge, or what?
  14. Ok got some questions for anyone who really knows their stuff. 1. When cruising at 40-50k, I cant seem to ever see anyone on radar, even when I have the scan set to 0-20k or something. What am I doing wrong. 2. What is the optimum climb path for the F-15. I have found that if I just climb to 40 or 50k, I get slow enough that the required angle of attack necessary to maintain level flight causes so much induced drag that I cannot accelerate above 500-600mph TAS even with my burners lit and no drop tanks. I am assuming that I need to stay very fast as I climb and I am curious as to what the most efficient climb is. 3. Please keep your answers limited to the above questions! I am working on perfecting my high alt tactics, not adopting a lower altitude approach. Not saying this is the best way to do things, just experimenting and I want to make sure I am doing everything I can within the limits of my envelope.
  15. That is sort of what I figured. Although having to operate the engine manually to obtain full performance would be a pain in the ass. Anyhow I that is all I wanted to know.
  16. "Maybe somebody found directions to the pilots how to handle the MP in these conditions? I see only one way to get full performance: switch the prop to manual pitch control, fully advance engine lever and set the desired rpm again using manual rpm control." "You are right and wrote exactly what I mean (except the fact that at 2300 rpm and 5500 m the supercharger can give exactly 1.15 ata - it must be calculated if it's so). As the main throttle is not fully open there is only one hint allowing to get full supercharger pressure as MP - switch to the manual pitch control, then fully advance the engine lever and set desired rpm manually controlling prop pitch." that doesn't appear to be what Yo-Yo was saying.
  17. Forgive me, I'm hardly and expert on this, but let me see if i get this straight. So as i understand it, the automatic system for regulating boost and RPM on the 109 only works up to the max continuous setting? And that over that setting you have to manage pitch, rpm, and throttle manually like a old style BoB era plane? That sounds like a terrible way to do things. I am probably not understanding correctly however.
  18. I was going that slow because the plane decelerates unbelievably fast at that alt and I was trying to get to a sustained turn speed without any flaps. Although TBH, like you said 130mph without flaps at that altitude is kind of preposterous. It doesn't help it turn either as you saw. It wont maintain any airspeed above that either when turning at that altitude. It goes from 300mph to nil in about 2 seconds. I seriously doubt the DCS aircraft will fly like this. I was just trying to make a point that 109 wont be any easier to fly necessarily.
  19. I think you'll find the 109 has plenty of its own teething issues. The roll was known to snatch due to the slats deploying for example. If its anything like BOS's 109 it will waffle all over the place when trying to get a guns solution sometimes depending on what you were doing right before. I made a video detailing how the 109 behaves at high alt in BOS. Who knows what it will be like in DCS though. I am being very light on the controls btw. It is a 109G2, not a K4 like were getting. K4 will have more power but a higher wing loading as well. I'm honestly quite curious to see how it performs.
  20. How do you properly press a pair or even a single Flanker in an Eagle. I have no doubt the F-15 can do this, because I manage it sometimes. But I am hardly an expert. My main issues seems to be that sometimes I fire at a target and the opponent doesnt seem to care that he has 3 120's bearing down on him. When this happens, I usually go to gimble either vertically or horizontally(I really like vertically since I am still pointing right at him) and hope he goes into the notch at the last second or my missiles hit first. If not, I make a last ditch attempt at dodging his missiles. Not sure what else to do.
  21. Just as an FYI, the absolute limit for the Aim-120C in game is 45nm for getting LA at about 30k head-on) The R-27ER is slightly shorter legged. At around 20nm you have a decent chance of a kill with the 120C. All things being the same, the F-15 will see the bandit a few seconds in advance, and get LA a few seconds ahead. If your facing a Flanker with ERs, he can shoot about 3-5 seconds after you get LA. Your real advantage is in the active seeker of the AMRAAM so make maximum usage of your near fire and forget abilities. The order of things is like this at 30k co alt bandit: 1. Target appears on radar ~ 60miles 2. LA given ~ 40-30 Miles depending on aspect and your own speed. 3. Shoot a spoiler shot as soon as you get LA to put your enemy on the defensive 4. Continue to salvo shots each time the enemy comes out of the notch or just every so often so that he cant get in a return shot and effectively guide it. 5. If hes still not dead, fire your remaining missile at 10nm or so. 6. If still not dead, dogfight. If facing multiple hostiles, your probably wont have enough missiles to kill both. Use TWS and fire 4 120s at each and then just book it out of the AO. At least that's the best thing I've come up with so far lol. Also, about Wikipedia: The range of the 120C is greater than >57nm. If you follow the link that they dredged that statistic up from, you will see that it states it is an estimate assuming an even greater range of >65miles. You could also just do that math, as by their own admission its range is >105km or 65miles.
  22. all I know is that I need the dora soon :)
  23. 1. Most of the WW2 sims out there right now are downright ancient. 2. As an example, Flying the P-51 in DCS is nothing like flying it in other sims. The level of fidelity results in a totally new experience. This alone makes me really excited to see the new WW2 fighters coming out. Its hardly something to yawn over. 3. To reiterate, this is WW2 on a totally different level. I find it hard to play older sims like il2 after DCS P-51. By comparison, the older games feel like junk. 4. I hope the P-38 in the background of leathernecks page is a form of foreshadowing. I;d give all my duckets for a P-38 L or J-25 LO. 2 engines is more fun than one!
  24. I thought that might be the case. Thought I'd anyhow though. Thanks.
  25. Anyone know how you could mod the game to allow inches of boost on the P-51?
