Unlock, return to search, something like that. If you're using russian TWS just move the cursor off. If its RWS look for return to search function.

N001 and N019 aren't going to be as long ranged, but from experience using it in DCS against planes and the like and the occasional word i hear on it here and there it should be able to fix helis intelligently using the blades. Dunno how. N001 definitely better than the N019 for this purpose

Can anyone help me setup my F-15 controls and train me?
hvymtal replied to bigcountry's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
I can tell you some of the basic stuff that you need to do if you want. I am pretty well-versed in all of the FC3 planes, so let me know what you need and I'll do my best to help. As for those profiles, you'll want to put them in your C:\Users\You\Saved Games\DCS. That is I think where the game will look first when you put a new profile in and want to load it, wait one... EDIT: Confirmed. It should look there. Once you put the .lua file(s) in, go to controls in the menu and load each one. Again I can give you usage tips all day, I've been flying that thing since LOMAC -
No further news anywhere. Considering how everything DCS gets delayed multiple times before release I'm skeptical

I would keep turning in various directions perpendicular to the missile, dumping chaff at various points and leaving ECM off, as once they lock on its no longer useful. If you can sneak into VR, they won't stand a chance even if you're flying a B-1R; the best close-range weapons they have are R60s I think and they have shit TWR and can only pull 5 G's The only thing that you can fight them with BVR is another 31, the F-14 or the 120D, none of which we can use

I think you need to turn on the laser and designate the target. Ima look at the tutorial again to see if you need to hold the trigger like with the T EDIT: NVM he has fixed your woes. I never found raising and lowering the glass to be useful, but i might try now

I understand the aircrafts very deeply. I know the capabilities of the APG-63/70, the N019, and N001. I know the TWRs of the planes, the weights of the missiles and fuel tanks, the range and speed figures, etc. I don't need a technical manual because I am basically a walking one. That's why I asked to not give one. I can maintain SA very well in CAC and BVR. I can anticipate what the bandit is thinking in BVR. I have High-functioning autism; My brain works at lightspeed. I can process more information in a second than most people who actually train their brains can. I can keep my SA in BVR. I don't need a damn situational awareness lecture, I need tactics

This has been going about in my head for quite some time. I see people saying that Two-Seat planes are not totally feasible yet even though the Huey has changed the field quite a bit, which rules out stuff like the Tomcat and Phantom from being fully produced. Then I got to thinking, those two planes have all the instruments you really need to fight the bad guys up in the driver's seat. While no, you can't in actuality operate the radar up front, you do have a display, and that really is all you need for DCS, even is high-fidelity. The GIB's place in those birds is absolutely dominated by the sensor display, which at least is partially duplicated in the front. That is really all you need; do you really need to be sitting in the back seat to control the Radar and IRST? Plus the bombing for the Phantom and Tomcat Alpha doesn't really need any fancy displays since they only got to use precision munitions in a regular occasion later in their lifetimes. The F-14D has MFDs, so it doesn't need it per se, and the Phantom's guided munitions capability is rather limited honestly and only a couple of weapons need a TV display. Plus all the weapons can be controlled as normal, except for some of the guided munitions of course, but that can't really be helped. I am crap at send-offs, so just start ruining my whole idea and argument already :D Discuss :)

It really depends on if making multiple cockpit positions that have totally separate functions will work. Sure, the Huey has the copilot and CA has the secondary machine gun positions on tanks etc, but we're talking pilot, bombardier/nose gun, Dorsal and Ventral ball turrets, tail gun, and two waist guns. That's seven different positions, six of which have machine guns! I'm not saying its impossible, anything is possible, but it would likely be a bit ridiculous to try and do everything unless the gunners are automated, and that takes away from sim fidelity. Really, what we need is two or three people using the damn thing but I don't think that is yet feasable, especially when looking at how mind-boggling the code for the Huey is from a code noob's standpoint.

Missing a couple of words and sorry needs a second "R", but otherwise excellent English. Seeing as Hungary is not in the countries list a Hungarian skin would probably have to be put into a different country's list, Ukraine perhaps? As for a manual in Hungarian I don't see it as an impossibility. Devs will need to elaborate. Then again I could be totally wrong on both of these, but just throwing my two cents out there, soto speak

The center dot is pretty much exactly where the bomb will hit when flying straight and level. You have to drop it almost on top of a tank to deal any damage, but most other vehicles close hit are acceptable depending on the bomb. FAB-500s you should be able to do well with, just stay flying the same course as when you held down the trigger and the bomb will land very accurately. You don't have to be ten feet off the ground, leave that crap for crazy A-10 pilots with Mk82 AIRs. I don't understand RBKs really at all, I've had lots of hit-or-miss experiences with them. KMGUs you need to aim in front of the target by a good margin if its just one unit. BetABs are for hardened targets and runways only. Any further questions? I am well versed in Russian munitions

SA is not entirely lost in defense. Looking at an RWR and only paying attention to the big M is a mistake, and lets not lie, we've all done that more than we would like to think. No, RWR is not entirely reliable, especially on Russian birds, but simply putting 100% of your attention onto evading one missile that with a little early maneuvering will fall over anyways is a waste of mental capacity. You don't have to look around everywhere, but keep an eye on your RWR; it really is a second pair of eyes when you have to focus mainly on one task I appreciate the advice and I think that we need to get back on topic with sharing some BVR tips and tricks. After some personal experimentation and some more online play I find that you have to shoot seven missiles at four targets to hit something, and that under all circumstances Winchester makes a great target. (Again, I swear I double and triple checked my IFF, I did not mean to TK you last night XD) On a more serious note I read an article that details the Russians' idea of BVR combat on Aus Air Power, link at bottom. Basically, from an external viewer's standpoint, the Russians launch multiple missiles at a target within a close timeframe. The further away and more dangerous that enemy, the more missiles they will put into the air, though usually no more than two. This is meant to increase the PK of not necessarily great missiles to something acceptable, and is why the pylon count moving from the MiG-23MLD to the Su-27 was four to ten-twelve. Considering my experience, I think this is something worth discussing. I have had pretty good success thus far when I put most of my missiles into the air. http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Rus-BVR-AAM.html

Sweet! Now give us the 120C-7, 7P, 9X, and JHMCS and we'll be good! No, wait, that doesn't make sense. It'd make the F-15 almost as good as the flanker.

So basically, maneuver hard in many directions early in the missile's flight to make it turn hard and fall over? And for shooting, I can do that fine in most engagements since the guy ends up half my max range away anyways before firing authorization is given, especially with 77s (though those are not as hard to use as people say, they just have tiny motors). I usually carry Sparrows since I find they guide better than AMRAAMs in most situations and they discourage dumping a million into the air like AMRAAMs do. Probably because you have to get close to them in the first place before your radar lets you shoot whereas ACs just let you shoot whenever. I swear my mantra is gonna end up Add the 120C-7, the 7P, the 9X, and JHMCS. That will solve a lot of people's issues about US Missiles stinking, which I share to a degree

I get close range combat and that tactics associated with that. That stuff is not hard for me. My issue is that I can't seem to get the hang of BVR combat. First is shooting missiles. I usually go out there and loose off one missile at a time against targets medium/long distance. None of them ever hit, yet I always seem to be good fodder, no matter who I am facing or what I'm flying. AMRAAMS, Sparrows, 27s, 77s, no matter what I can't hit s***. What is my issue here? The really good pilots seem to usually disengage when fired upon, which brings me to my next point. I do not understand defense whatsoever, primarily because I can't find any info on BVR combat tactics in the first place. The bandit can disengage and break lock with no issue, sometimes while guiding a misisle, All I can ever do is hit the weeds and hope the Missile does not keep up. That fly perpendicular crap doesn't seem to work for me, it usually just makes me feel like an idiot. The closest thing I have come up for a real tactic is to pull up hard then pull down hard while dumping chaff at smart times, and that doesn't always work, target/weapon irrespective. There seems to be a few key tactics that separate the good from the flying bulleyes, but whenever I try to apply them, I end up with a face full of missile. I guess the best way to reply to this is a lesson on how to effectively engage BVR. I do not want a military technical manual, that is not useful to me here. I want people to elaborate tactics that can help me become better without having to bust open one of those damn things.

At first my issue started similar to GunghoGW's, where my updater keeps crapping staying in initialization phase while it updates itself. It happens after a fresh reinstall, which I keep doing hoping something new happens. I have to restart my computer to get anything to work properly since it effectively freezes my computer (can describe upon request). But I have a different issue altogether when it does start. I am perfectly able to play DCS using launcher.exe, but i can't use the updater for this absolutely senseless, retarded reason that I cannot figure out what is wrong with. I have totally up-to-date legit copy of Windows 7 64 bit. I honsely have no idea what to do. My directory is as follows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\updater.exe I tried in Program files normal as well as x86, but it seems to not wish to work. I tried turning Malwarebytes and Bitdefender off (Bitdefender as much as I could, bdagent.exe cannot be disabled as part of the antivirus protection), but it stays immobile. I am absolutely certain because I checked the processes tab in Task manager, the two updater .exe's stayed at ~5000k and ~3000k physical memory usage for three hours. They didn't even change approx CPU usage. Only after reinstalling my game can I get the updater to even run. The only thing I haven't tried is installing DirectX and visual C++ with the game, which i assumed i didn't have to do since I have those up to date as of now. Gonna try that and return to you guys, if anybody has a solution please post it. EDIT: Nope, same problem. I am forced to restart windows after updater starts working and then stops (which I suspect has something to do with it, but I can't figure out how to get it to work in the first place, so.....). This time, however, I got a rather amusing "This program is not responding" window labeled Microsoft Windows  Does anybody have any sort of answer? I can't turn bitdefender off all the way and I tried this with BD and Malwarebytes off with a reinstall count into the double digits now and quite possibly some grey hairs at age 18.

Had the same issue, I'm a Bit Defender user. I turned off everything (mainly firewall), we'll see what happens. Hopefully I can get this to work before tomorrow when I can get CA and FC with my birthday money, and before my computer shits itself with the firewall off lol. EDIT: Turns out Malwarebytes was also blocking it. Need to turn that off too... EDIT 2: Turned all of Bitdefender's crap off and nothing. I think I may have a separate issue, maybe. It says the computer won't let the updater run because it is 32-bit or some crap like that, this is the issue I had before. I can play the game just fine via using launcher.exe, but I can't update the game and I need to to play anything other than the absolute base DCS
