Can we have a realistic time-frame for steam version? Waiting almost a day is ridiculous. Steam needs to provide a window.

Please add this detail... the two square boxes on the grey chin under the gunners windscreen (Ill presume these are laser warning receivers or lights?) https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/9488555

The bump is 100 percent correct (successfully installed thanks modman7). Almost all fast jets have a compressed air system to keep canopy front clean for landing in rain / hail etc. On the F 14 its implemented as 3 pencils that spray air; in later versions as a slit that blows air. This is quite perfect but obviously a persons orientation "might" reduce its apapearance. Look at pics if ur not convinced. Very very impressed by this attention to detail. Your model doesn't need praise; it speaks for itself.

for a second I thought that was a pic!

Embarrassing newbie question. Got original lockon, added FC original on top, added Flaming cliffs 1.12b added F15C mod for 1.12b, get runtime error. Now I know you extract files and copy to correct directories. Since only lockon has scripts, config and bazar im guesing this is right place. Did previously add 3go? Could this be prob? Cheers for any help I know this is insultingly easy to many on this forum.

Terrain and Theatres (what would you like to lift off from?)
zone 5 replied to Avimimus's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Gulf!!! Almost every major war has been fought there. Plus perfect historical terrain for A10, Apache, F 15, F 18, Mig 29, F 14 , Su 25 (oddly not the Su 27?). Plus we could fly Israeli airforce and tank hunting, scud hunting, Gulf War re-enactments would all be possible and amazingly interesting for multiplayer campaigns (how would you have fought Iraq in 91?). -

I still prefer the Su 27 but the Apg 71 was incredibly advanced as was its Irst modified for use on the Boeing Yal 1. For Ed, an F14 would sell a fortune. Especially if A, B and D models were represented. The flight model would be largely identical except T/W for B and D), we could all fly Iranian, and F14D did fight in Southern Watch if ineffectually( 2 Aim 54C fired at long range in 1998 against receding high speed Foxbats but what isn't mentioned is 2 F 15C also fired Amraams that missed) See Osprey Us Navy F 14 Tomcat Units of Operation Iraqi Freedom and F15C / E Eagle Units of Operation Iraqi Freedom for details. Both by Osprey books. -

In answer to the question of "are the models above "beingf worked on. I have no idea. They were released by Ed last year in support of Bs when we all thought it to be a lomac add on. So those models probably are in BS. If not , one can only IMAGINE what Ed are capable of now. GHowever given that lomac objects appear to be in BS iots likely these models will be as well but simple answer, I don't know. -

A properly modelled Su 27 would be amazing. Ed had an amazing looking Su 27 in the works for BS when it was thought to be a lomac add on. Su 30 should be added given itsd use as multirole interceptor by many airforces. Perhaps Mig 31 B as well for bomber, cruise missile intercepts and 2 player operation. -

DEFINITELY the F 15E Eagle! Carries almost every weapon in the U.S arsenal, used in Gulf War 1, Allied Force, Operation Enduring Freedom etc. In U.S service till 2035. Great choice. But can we have a really good 3d model of the Eagle? The current one isnt anywhere near as good as the Mig 29 in Lomac. Mark Styling's scale drawings (not the cover plates in the book!) at the back of Osprey books' F 15 C/ E Eagle units of Operation Iraqi Freedom) http://www.markstyling.com/f15e.htm would make a superb basis, or see his site. Readers might recognise them from International Air Power review issues on the F15 and also articles in Combat Aircraft magazine. Alternatively looking at Aviapresses 2004 issue on the Eagle (includes F15E) would be a slightly less accurate basis. Both are vastly superior to Verlinden drawings of F15 C/ D. -
Eurasian medium fighters (what would you like to see?)
zone 5 replied to Avimimus's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
If its an issue of realism, I would rather have the Mig29A which seems to be modelled beautifully with FULL STARTUP PROCEDURES, RADAR MODES and so forth than a Mig 29SMT or Mig 35 which would be less accurate. Besides Im a fan of cold war 80s-mid 90s combat (Allied Force, Gulf War 1) which alot is known about rather than todays aviation which though impressive, almost nothing is actually realistically known about (try modelling Rafales, F 22s exact radar, start up procedures, radar modes etc with total accuracy). I believe Ed maybe thinking the same way given we are receiving the A model Apache and the original A 10 not the later variants. Adding these later along with SMT, Mig 35 would be great however but it would be sad to see this sim become survey when it has the potential to be an amazing study sim. By the way the reason the Ka 50 Blackshark can be modelled even though its so new probably is because it lacks radar and electro optical systems maybe less highly classified- just my 2 cents... -

zone 5 replied to Avimimus's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The IDEAL situation would be the original Mig 29 modeled plus the SMT variants. Remember the SMT comes in several models. Baseline, with hump and with newer radars. The advantage for Ed is they already have a very nice Mig 29 3d model of the standard Mig 29, and then could add the hump and zhuk radar. Personally though anything with Zhuk or the hump are problematic from a flight model and avionics fidelity viewpoint. Only the standard Mig 29 can be modelled with near total accuracy so I hope this is the model Ed goes with. An SMT and MRCA variant would make fantastic future modules as more info becomes available. -

While there' guesswork in every sim, where does it end? With a Mig 29 we can be fairly sure of its R27s rmax and rmin values, the Slot Back's nominal detection ranges etc. Though Ed has done a magnificent job of modelling arguably modern and obscure aircraft like the Su 25 and Blackshark neither has advanced modern multimode radars. The Su 25 / Blackshark weapons system is primarily optical, as such it can be modelled quite accurately. Now the SMK radar? Do we even know which radar it is? It could be Slot Back, Topaz M or Zhuk. Russia barely has any upgraded so that leaves Algeria with equipment standards we dont know for certain. Who knows anything about Zhuks operating modes for instance? China perhaps, Ed unlikely. For a survey simulation this probably doesnt matter but DCS is clearly aiming for unprecedented detail. Thats why the Apache is A model not Longbow. No user manuals, no high fidelity avionics flight models so while it would be nice to have, an SMT is unlikely. -
Poll question: air/rotorcrafts in the DCS plans !
zone 5 replied to HungaroJET's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Mig 29! It can be modelled to an unprecedented level of detail since the flight manual is out, is perfect historically for matchups with Western fighters (Allied Force, Desert Storm), or as a Western fighter (luftwaffe until recently) and the avionics are largely already done (flaming cliffs). Furthermore the current model already looks good ( and reportedly was being improved along with Flanker if forum posts on Lockon.ru are to be believed) so it should be quick to bring to market. -
If it had to be another helicopter i would say Hind because its historically the bogeyman of many soldiers, the Mujahedin called it the "devils chariot". It looks mean, everyone uses it and is a perfect matchup for the Apache plus in terms of timescale is playable in various variants from the late 70s to today. But like others, it might be better after Apache, A10 to have a fast mover pack, preferable 1 allied, 1 russian aircraft as a set. Many would buy this and it would allow DCS to avoid making the larhe fast mover community waut too long to buy fast movers which they certainly will given a chance to do so.
-
For almost everyone here, the preference is aircraft, fast movers especially and obviously ground movers. The fear is "does ground units that are playable come at the cost of delays in fielding MIg 29s, Hornets, Apaches, Hinds and A10s?" IMHO, most here fear this and so will answer accordingly.

F/A 18. If we see ANOTHER F 16 many of us will die of boredom (joking). Now the Hornet is a different story. It is THE workhorse of the US Navy, is multirole, comes in a night attack 2 seat variant (great for those 2 cockpit options) AND is flown by many airforces (U.S, Australia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Canada, Finland, Spain, Switzerland) plus allows for Allied carrier ops. Its also an excellent matchup for the Mig 29 and Su 27 and is both used as a mud mover and a fast mover. So its an interesting plane plus should sell well and appeal to the U.S market as well as several european nations. -

Mig 29. It's the premiere medium fighter the USAF faced in Gulf War 1, Allied Force and was the fighter Western airforces were most likely to face. Home turf advantage of DCS being Russian plus the fact the basic Mig 29 is completely compromised (USAF recovery operations from Gulf War 1, declassified manual on amazon!) means we have an opportunity to have an unprecedented level of accuracy in a medium fighter. Great for Blue / Red matchups and the basic model looked fantastic in lomac, one can only guess how good the models in development for blackshark when it was perceived as a lomac add on looked. Its a quick aircraft (intheory) for dcs to model. Avionics are already done and physical model was reportedly in development.
